And the defense sinks to the level of their competition per usual. This is always how they start. Doesn’t matter if it’s the bumbling Jets or the Packers. This defense does not come ready to play. The run defense has plummeted significantly also. Not going to overreact to our typical slow start but this is not how a playoff team should come out.

I don’t care if it’s the Jets. I saw them beat teams. I saw the Lions beat teams. I saw the Jaguars beat teams.
It does not matter, these are NFL caliber player still. The Buccaneers are depleted. A lot of the players are injured, not hurt, injured.
The reality is the defense gave up one big run, because shiiiiiiitttte happens. One missed tackle or assignment is what usually causes a big play. Relax.

Everyone including Brady completely agrees with what you said.
The problem is they’ve had receivers missing throughout the year.
Now they’re missing their starting running back.
There have only been two games with all the starting DBs playing together. That’s insane to me.
Now they have their two best pass rushers out. And LVD, the leader of that defense, I’d out.
So it’s hard to gel and get in sync.
They’re lucky they’re playing 2 crap teams to end the year but the playoffs are gonna be real tough this year, even more so than last year, and last year they barely won every game except the Super Bowl

They really really really really need to Shaq and JPP in the playoffs. They were the MVPs of the entire playoff run.
They also need to play tighter underneath when it’s 3rd and short. That drives me crazy. I understand the concept of the defense. They give up a lot of the underneath stuff m, that’s why they’re best in the NFL in yards per pass attempts, so it’s deceiving that quarterbacks throw for a lot of yards against them but… on third in short they need to play tighter!

See Francisco I couldn’t disagree more with you on that. You know we are almost always on the same page but this game means little IMO. I think we will still end up with 3rd or 4th seed and I know home field is supposedly important but every playoff season it’s been proven how not so important it really is. The staff is frustrating at times but I can’t want anyone off a SB winning roster gone. If I say that, it’s in the heat of the moment. Although I might make an exception for Todd. That corner had Evans stacked and was ahead of him on the route.
Brady threw back shoulder which was correct, and Evans didn’t come back for it.

Byron was not good at his job either. Awful gameplan there too. The coaching staff just got their collective asses kicked a la the Aints game. In fact, there has to be concern that the players weren’t even put in position to succeed. Todd is clueless on defense. The defense has been stomped. The offense had 1 drive worth a crap against a really bad defense. We should be kicking the crap out of this team without our starters but Todd and Byron aren’t good enough.

Mintor is good between the tackles but when they go wide you can really see where they miss LVD and his speed.
Basically, they needed to be healthy, getting in sync, and progressing towards the playoffs about 3 games ago. Instead they’ve been devastated with injuries. They’ve been playing with 25% to 33% of their starters out almost weekly for most the year.
I still think they win this, I still think they win next week, and I think they win their home playoff game.
After that it’s going to be really really tough. Even with a bunch of players coming back for the playoffs, there’s a lot of people playing hurt and or injured and they just have not had a lot of time together to peak

There’s a lot of wrong routes being run. On the play that there was holding on both teams and Brady was sacked, we had 2 guys in the exact same spot. The scheme from Byron and the lack of fluidity is a concern.

The lack of practice seems to show right now.
They don’t have a lot of hitting in practice to begin with and they’ve had so many injuries there’s a lot of extra time off.
It has led to routes run wrong, a lot of missed tackles, bad angles, missed assignments, etc…
Just looks real sloppy and they’re not good enough to just walk into the playoffs and think they’re going to flip a switch. They needed to get it going starting a couple weeks ago. It’s probably too late at this point

D Line not even sniffing Zach. He’s been lit up all year and our D Line which still has some significant guys on it is invisible. AW31 looks way off. If he’s not right, let him heal. We look content with waiting for Zack’s mistakes instead of making the mistakes. The aggressiveness was only wearing green today. We shall see what happens but it has already gone beyond acceptable.

I said it all offseason and on one wanted to listen and everyone called me a “hater.”
We let an XFL QB in Heinicke torch our terrible secondary for over 300 yards and we barely won that Wild Card game.
We got a bit lucky in the win against the Saints in that following week. The one White INT really changed the game. If that single play doesn’t happen the Bucs lose.
Against Green Bay, they had multiple starting O-Linemen out. So our pass rush got crazy pressure on Rodgers, yet our secondary still have up a 50+ yard TD and the Packers stayed in the game until the end.
In the Super Bowl, the Chiefs were without their Pro Bowl starting Left Tackle and their right tackle. I don’t care what anyone says, you lose both your starting tackles and you won’t be the same team.
Our D-Line got insane pressure on Mahomes due to those injuries and the pass rush made our crappy secondary look better as passes were forced and thrown on the run.
This “Gravediggers” stuff was non-sense.
We won the Super Bowl because we had the good fortune of playing teams with banged up O-Lines and our pass rush dominated. In all the games that JPP & Shaq struggled during last season our team struggled, and that let to 5 of those early losses.
Bucs fans don’t want to realize the ‘truth’ about this team. It’s highly overrated.

There are no gimmes in the NFL….running game has been avg, propped up by high powered offense. Same with secondary, very avg….propped up by superior front seven. The dynamics of this defense changed drastically when JPP hurt his shoulder. Simply hasn’t been the same…now you are missing JPP, Lavonte….defense is exposed. Jets are playing Brady aggressive and we are playing a rookie soft.

We need an update ASAP on Brown.
It looks like it was a good year and a half run, for the most part, and the crazy just surfaced and he’s done.
I have tolerated everything since he came to this team including the Covid BS, but he just took off his pads and quit the team in the middle of a game.
Contract should be ripped up and he should be thrown off the team five minutes after the game ends. I don’t care what caused it or what got him upset. There is never an excuse for that.

1. Our pass rush is way too consistent. When they get no pressure our secondary gets torched. We have one of the worst 5 secondaries in the NFL.
2. Our O-Line is decent at pass protection for quick throws, but they stink for Run Blocking. Without being able to establish a run of any kind, we can’t open up opportunities for Play-Action. We’re also often stuck in 2nd and 3rd and long. Math is just against you at the point.
Teams know they just need to bring pressure up the middle against the middle against Brady. That’s his kryptonite because he rarely moves outside the pocket and plans to step up into the pocket to buy time on an outside rush. So teams jams the middle and send pressure directly up the middle.

I remember when I said the team needed to at least make a phone call on OBJ, he wasn’t washed up, the tape showed that, and you need all the WR depth you can get because the Bucs WR’s have a consistent history of getting injured every single year. I don’t know the Bucs had the money to do anything, but if you can add a star player, you do so, because you never know what is going to happen.
Now the Bucs will likely be going into the playoffs with Evans playing on one leg and Cecil Grayson as our other starting WR.

Horrible Play Calling on Offense. This game has been all about getting Evans the 1k yards record. You play to win not get meaningless records. #2 seed was in our grasp. Throw the ball 30 yards on 3rd and 6.

You are correct. The team is 11 – 4 and they’ve played with 25% to 33% of the roster missing almost every game this year.
They haven’t been able to get in sync.
They’re missing the two pass rushers that should’ve been MVPs of the playoffs and Super Bowl.
SUH is half of what he was last year.
LVD is the leader of the defense and makes so much more of a difference than people realize and he’s missed a lot of time.
They’ve had a total of two games with their starting defense of backfield.
So the reality is, they’re probably going to win 13 games this year. They’re probably going to win their home playoff game
. After that I don’t expect anything. They have a few holes on the defense to fill, and a draft that is loaded with D line and DBs.
Grayson and Perriman and Johnson all look pretty good but I expect them to find another young receiver and tight end. They will be a contender next year

David – I appreciate the non-PMS take, its amazing so many people here lose their s— when they literally have no idea what happened or how the team reacts to it.
As for WRs, you’re higher on them then I am. Going into the year I thought Tyler would take a step up, but that hasn’t happened. Grayson looked good last week, and might make a nice depth gadget player, but I wouldn’t expect much more than that. Perriman got cut by the Lions and the Bears this season, he’s played a ton of snaps with very little production to show for it, I think he’s a fringe player at this point, probably shouldn’t be on a SB roster.

Grayson and Perriman and Johnson have looked decent to me for what they are… receivers 3-5.
I thought Johnson was going to really step up this year too but he started out of shape and he continues to drop balls he should catch but then he’ll make a remarkable catch. It’s frustrating but I would not give up on him.
Evans and Godwin aren’t going anywhere. Darden catches everything near him but I don’t know if he’s just too small or what the issue is.
Either way I think AB is gone now and OJ is going to be gone and they will be looking for another receiver and young TE next year.

Disagree with people bashing the Jets, they had been running at will, only need 2 yards, and its deep in Bucs terrorist. You get the 1st down, the game is over. Conversely, you kick the FG, give the Bucs the ball back with over 2 mins left, only up by 7 points, against Tom Brady, and the Bucs likely go for 2 and the win if they get a TD.
So 2 yards, to game being over, versus needing to hold Tom Brady.

Unbelievable…
With a pass rush… A healthy LVD and Shaq… I think they can beat anyone in the playoffs.
The biggest problem to me is still the Rams on the road.
But because they have played with 1/4 to 1/3 of their starting roster hurt most this year they are not in sync, they have not peaked heading to the playoffs.
I see them winning next week and the home playoff game and that’s about it, unless in the next two weeks a lot of people get miraculously healthy. Not just healthy enough to play.
