“It Doesn’t Look Like There’s Anything Broken”
January 4th, 2022The Bucs have been stacking running back injuries as well as wins.
Against the dreadful Jets, Ronald Jones left the game early with an ankle sprain and Ke’Shawn Vaughn, Tampa Bay’s leading rusher the past two games, injured his ribs.
Bucco Bruce Arians said today on his official team radio show that the early prognosis is good for Vaughn.
“It doesn’t like there’s anything broken,” Arians said of Vaughn, noting he’s very hopeful the second-year running back will play Sunday against the Panthers.
Arians wasn’t just optimistic about Vaughn’s health. He likes what he’s seeing after some shaky outings earlier this season.
“Really good. Really ran the ball well, caught the ball well. It was one of his best ballgames,” Arians said. “I thought he was going to take it to the house and he tripped one time on that turf. … He’s getting better and better.”
Joe is fired up for Vaughn. Every year in the NFL young running backs catch fire. Maybe Vaughn is that guy for this postseason. He’s fresh and perhaps his growing confidence will make him a much-needed weapon if Leonard Fournette can’t return.

I like Vaughn, he just can’t catch the damn ball. Lol. Speaking about catching the ball how about Golden Tate? Just released today…

I really don’t understand the problem with catching the ball out of the backfield. It’s not that difficult. On top of that, Vaughn was a decent pass catcher in college. Rojo was never really utilized that way but should college but this far into his professional career running swing routes and chip blocking and picking up the Blitzer should’ve happened by now. Rojo is a good runner and nothing more, he’s going to be gone after this year

Buc4ever… Doesn’t he have a diva reputation like the one we just got rid of? I could be wrong. I have no proof. Just heard.

Seems like wrong time to complain about catching the ball. He did a heck of a job catching an absolute dart early this last game. Previously he has had so r issues though

David……I feel the same way. Catching a ball is all coordination. How can the top 1% of the World not be able to catch a simple pass.
I am 58. Played HS football but then enlisted. I still throw with my 15 yr old son and he is amazed at my hands. I have always taught him to catch a ball with your hands first and then make your decision.
I don’t understand the concept of an world class athlete not being able to catch a 5 or 10 yard pass.

Vaughn has been running so smooth, decisive, his vision is getting better, his skills are heating up, I want to see him with the ball more.

Rojo left the game early… imagine that.

No. Vaughn is not the guy. He runs scared and with little authority. He will not be the saving Grace.

Don’t think we’ve seen the best of Vaughn. Has great vision it appears. Picks the right hole.

My college ice hockey coach used to say ‘You are what you practice’. Certain drills would be repeated over & over & over until they became instinct. Took me awhile to understand what he meant, but he was right. The results got reflected in our games.
I suspect that the same holds true for football. There’s only so much time to practice, and the Bucs emphasis under BA is throwing the football. Pass-blocking probably gets a lot more emphasis at practice than run-blocking does. 4th-tier RBs like Ke-Shawn Vaughn (drafted 3rd Rnd 2020) probably don’t get near the opportunities to run the ball with the Bucs that say Jonathan Taylor (drafted 2nd Rnd 2020) gets with the Colts. With more practice & playing time coming his way, Vaughn MIGHT surprise us all. Or not.

Golden Tate?
He would be great on WR screens and in the slot.

Golden Tate is no problem, the Patriots actually wanted him but for whatever reason it didn’t happen, I think they took Sanu instead, what a waste. My only question is why was he on the Titans practice squad? I would think Brown, Jones & Tate would be a pretty good receiving core. As far as catching the football at the NFL level is not as easy as it sounds that’s why so few are elite. If your timing is slightly off, that tenth of a second is the difference of a reception and a drop. SB mentioned catching with hands, Gronk, Moss and yes AB are perfect examples of that, when you use your body it creates a cradling effect, you can’t extend your arms and that’s not a natural body position. The rest is looking it into your hands so your head doesn’t turn to quickly and I won’t get into the whole defender barreling down on you. It’s like shooting free throws and apparently Vaughan wasn’t in the Brady circle like Lenny. Look at his progess.
