Anthony Nelson A Question Mark For Sunday
January 12th, 2022UPDATED 12:59 p.m. – A guy who was coming up big replacing a couple of big-name players may not be available in Sunday’s playoff game with the Eagles.
That would be outside linebacker Anthony Nelson. It seems Nelson hurt his ankle. Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians said Nelson was held out of practice today. His game availability for Sunday? Arians doesn’t know.
“I have my fingers crossed,” Arians said. Arians didn’t go into further detail but did add that the immortal Cyril Grayson and Ronald Jones are doubtful.
Even though the Bucs are just having walk-throughs for practices, Nelson will be on the sidelines in the hopes that rest is all he needs to recover. In his last three games, Nelson has been a force on defense. Nelson has three sacks, four quarterback hits, a fumble recovery and a pass defended.
The Bucs are already down fellow outside linebackers Bucs sack king Shaq Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul. Both are expected to play on Sunday but who knows how much Shaq can play with his gimpy knee (he’s wearing a knee brace). Last night on the Buccaneers Radio Network, Arians said Shaq and JPP are 100 percent ready.

Weather forecasted to be mess on Sunday. That favors the Eagles.

Backup OLB “Major” Anthony Nelson presence is pretty damn important. I’m not sure what the starting OLBs can bring to the game, but we know their snaps and performance might be a bit more limited than we’re used to.

Still 4 days until Sunday. The Gulf Stream will have the final word; she’s pretty fickle.

How do you injure an ankle in a walk through? No one said anything during or after Carolina.
