Yes, National Media Folks, The Bucs Do Need Antonio Brown

December 8th, 2021

False national narrative.

Since furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing, fake-V-card-flashing Bucs receiver Antonio Brown got sentenced by NFL warden Roger Goodell with a three-game suspension for his phony V-card, Joe is seeing a lot of national media folks claiming the Bucs don’t need Brown.

Joe guesses, literally, the Bucs don’t need Brown. But if they are serious about winning a Super Bowl, you damn right they need him.

Anyone who watches the Bucs regularly knows and can see this offense isn’t the same, isn’t as smooth without Brown. But don’t tell that to folks who live outside the Tampa Bay area, those who have zero invested in the team like Adam Maya of NFL.com.

The Buccaneers don’t need A.B. Tampa Bay is unbeaten in the five games Antonio Brown has played and lost three of the first four games he missed. That probably wasn’t a coincidence, as Brown produced in line with his stellar career norms. But with his favorite early-season target sidelined almost two months now by an ankle injury — and the next two games because of suspension — Tom Brady has adapted. He shredded the Falcons defense with a litany of short and intermediate throws to lead Tampa Bay to its third straight win. Fifteen of his 38 completions went to Chris Godwin, the most for any receiver this season. Rob Gronkowski, whose extended absence largely overlapped with Brown’s, caught two touchdowns and Mike Evans and Leonard Fournette had seven receptions apiece. This offense is still loaded at receiver, and its passing game is the most productive in the league. The Bucs can stop here with Brown.

If the Bucs were playing the Dixie Chicks each week and knew they had foot-rubbing, car-littering film guru tight end Rob Gronkowski available, then yeah, maybe the Bucs wouldn’t need Brown.

Now if you want to ask why the Bucs’ offense sputters despite having Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, that’s a fair question. December isn’t the time for philosophical debates in a coffee bar on Central Avenue in St. Petersburg. It’s about results, specifically production and wins. With Brown, this offense is virtually unstoppable.

Either you are playing to win the Super Bowl or you are not. That’s all there is to it.

Another media bozo pushing their agenda. Brady thinks he needs him & that’s all that matters

right, win at all costs, no matter the moral compass….sounds like the way of a certain political party. Money before morals…

    – couldn’t have said it better, Joe

  7. Kentucky Buc Says:

The national media doesn’t want to see TB and TB12 in the Super Bowl again. They love them some Kyler . #FreeAB

  8. VSyl Says:

This circus has gone too far. That’s why I don’t watch any TV anymore at all. The media is just trying to make us thoughtless zumbis, just like any other power.

  9. Kentucky Buc Says:

That 3rd receiver slot isn’t producing. They moved Gronk outside a few times even.

  10. Mr Bean Says:

I don’t think it is an on and off switch – good offense vs unstoppable offense. Add a piece (Brown) and you improve; remove a piece (Brown) and you are worse off. You increase the chance to repeat with AB, but that is is. You can still repeat without him and lose with him. Anything is possible. Now AB is a very important piece, I agree.

This whole talk about cutting AB is ridiculous. When BA said he would cut him if he misbehaved even once – he meant in the locker room. AB has been a perfect teammate. Everybody loves him. This is a relatively minor transgression for which the league punished him accordingly. Case closed. He will be back.

  11. Medicated Pete Says:

If MJ & Phil Jackson could deal w/ Dennis Rodman, we can deal with AB

  12. Robert Says:

We need him. He is our BEST WR that can play underneath and take it to the house.

Hahaha, nice! Another way of telling Brucie to take his political posts to a political website.

  14. SOFIERCE Says:

Morals left the NFL a long time ago. Now go back to sleep.

  15. Jimmy Says:

    >>> no matter the moral compass….sounds like the way of a certain political party. Money before morals… <<<

Think the players are getting the shiite kicked out of themselves for charity? Want morals? Call a priest.

  16. Rico210 aka wutdaBucisthis Says:

This offense is bonkers when Brown is playing. Simple as that.
    Some of y’all need meditation.
    Go Bucs

  17. Medicated Pete Says:

You think the Giants were gonna cut Lawrence Taylor????? Hahahahaha it’s all about “WINNING” Charlie Sheen said it perfectly

  18. D-Rome Says:

The NFLs COVID policy is, like a lot of decisions they make, hypocritical. It’s funny how Bruce Blah Blah has the audacity to talk money over morals when there is nothing immoral about refusing to take a vaccine that was not properly tested and has killed 10,000 people in the United States and has caused long term adverse reactions. Funny how Bruce Blah Blah talks about money over morals when our own government protects Big Pharma and themselves from being sued if you have an adverse reaction from the vaccine or if a loved one dies from it. The Bidone Administration wants every employer to mandate vaccines but if you die or have an adverse reaction then their response will be F-You, not our problem, we won’t help you. Mandates are a desperation move from those who do not have the consent of the governed and as we all know, this Administration is desperate.

More people have died under the Bidone Administration than under the previous Administration. They won an election over by hammering home how many people died of COVID under Trump’s watch. Turnabout will be fair play in the upcoming elections.

  19. Kentucky Buc Says:

There’s probably a nice Chess club in your area for the morally offended. Then there’s ice skating. Woops, no not ice skating. Maybe gymnastics ? No not that either. Just go with Chess. Just don’t check the members too closely.

  20. Curse of Gruden Says:

    Pickle Ball! LOL

  21. Ash Says:

Yup definitely need ab for the Superbowl run no doubt.

  22. Stone crab sam Says:

Could you all imagine Aaron rodgers with Antonio brown? I don’t even wanna go there. The owners didn’t pay all that money keeping this band together to let that happen imo. no effin way.

  23. Lloydmurphy19 Says:

According to the league, 20% of all NFL players received their vaccines off-site, just like AB. So, obviously if they examine that 20%, they are going to find players who faked it as well. Why aren’t they doing this? They let Rodgers off with a slap on the wrist, and now a three game suspension for our guys? I guess the rest of the league gets a free pass. Ridiculous!!!

  24. sauron's eye Says:

The media is just trolling for views. The Bucs offense has a higher gear when AB is on the field. We need him back to play to our potential. Cutting him would be lunacy and he could come back to kill us on another team.

  25. Listnfrmafar Says:

Who needs a 7 time probowl 2 time SB winning receiver on your team??? Ya let’s cut him lose. He would fill Woods spot on Rams very nicely or Bill’s pick him up so they can have Diggs, Sanders, Beasley and really shove it up Bucs secondarys backside Sunday.

  26. Doctor Stroud Says:

And, we need Mike Edwards. AB is taking up a lot of the oxygen in this discussion, but Edwards represents the future of the team. His involvement in this might actually help AB hang on.

  27. CChead Says:

To quote Hildabeast. “At this point what difference does it make?” data shows vaxed and un vaxed can contract and spread the China virus at the same rate. Wake the eff up people.

  28. Listnfrmafar Says:

Dr. Stroud, Edward’s or AB? Who is more likely to come up in the SB? Answer: AB, he already has. Safeties are a dime a dozen, 7 time probowl receiver are not. Need I remind you 5-0 with him on the field.

  29. Bruce Blahak Says:

    Fascist fans…great

  30. Bucsfanman Says:

Does everything have to devolve into a political donnybrook?!

Welcome to 21st century America where EVERYTHING is about money!

And guess what? Don’t like the rules? Too bad. This is what you signed up for. Nothing is perfect and I’m sure they will look to modify the rules as more and more information is available. HOWEVER, these were put into place prior to the season and the players and coaches must abide by them, regardless of their views on vaccine efficacy and lost elections!

They broke the rules and will be suspended for 3 games. THAT’s the story. It was dumb on their part. Move on people.

  31. PassingThru Says:

As I said before, Antonio Brown is the de facto WR1. He’s an absolute handful anywhere he lines up, and he is by far the best slot receiver on this roster. AB and Gronk open up opportunities for themselves and everyone else when defenses use a Cover 2 shell against the Bucs.

  32. Doctor Stroud Says:

@Listnfrmafar: true enough, but the Bucs are undefeated when Mike Edwards gets an interception or forces a fumble. The secondary is decimated, and we need him.

  33. WalkdaPlank Says:

    Bad take.

Need and want are two different words.

The Bucs don’t “need” Antonio Brown just like they didn’t “need” him last season. Dude only caught 8 passes for less than a 100 yards, and, oh yeah, didnt even play a single down in the NFC Championship. But yeah we “need” him.

To guys like D-Rome that wanna say “but he scored a TD in the Super Bowl”. Oh yeah the Bucs really “needed” that second half TD in a DEFENSIVE rout of the Chiefs. Couldn’t have won without that I’m sure. Sarcasm.

The Bucs WANT AB they absolutely don’t NEED him.

  34. BT-Tampa Says:

    D-Rome,

Can I hold the nail while you swing the hammer?

Just for a little added data, we moved to Vero Beach after 1996-2017 in Tampa. Since January 2020, I have noticed that ambulance sirens have picked up from 2 a week to 2 a day (there were 4 yesterday, but none yet today). We are not close to Cleveland Clinic, so this is only a fraction of the ambulances heading to the hospital. I did not want to assume that these were vaccine victims to put a check on any confirmation bias, but I recently read an interview by a 25-year nurse from Cleveland Clinic VB who exposed the evil coming from higher-ups. You can search for it and come to your own conclusions. Do not go to the hospital if you get COVID.

AB should not have faked his vax card, but I don’t blame him for avoiding the bioweapon. It would have been better for him to answer in one word: Tuskegee.

  35. Bellingham Bucs Fan Says:

This hot take brought to you by Pfizer.

  36. Ben green Says:

The real question is does Brady think they need him to win. His love for the cretin should answer that for y’all. Alex is right in the middle of this fake covid shot stuff. Brady doesn’t want a jaded AB on the street. It might jeopardize the whole operation. Ben told y’all about Mr Guerrero, a man who once claimed to have a cure for cancer. Do you think anyone like that would advise someone to get a shot, produced and directed by a government that sanctioned him for making false medical claims? Ben thinks not, and y’all that continue to protest….well, y’all know what Shakespeare said about protesting. Many of y’all lauded to Ben how everyone was vaccinated because the media reported it.

  37. Ben green Says:

Ben doesn’t believe Mr. Brady’s vacc status. He might have gotten it after all the Rodgers stuff, or certainly after this fiasco.

  38. Captain Dan Lawrence Says:

I see it the same way,… We don’t Need him to be a very good team, but he does make is a Better team!

  39. buxxWun Says:

AB = str8 up freaking baughwlur.period.end uh scussion.. AB has mad separation , leaving fuulz in his wake. Full sails and sun on our face .
