“Throw That One Away”

December 9th, 2021

Bucco Bruce Arians talks film.

For those who went to bed early Monday night, you missed one of the most fascinating football games of the decade, and it featured the Bucs’ next opponent.

The reeling Buffalo Bills, losers of three of their last five games, hosted the Belicheats in a critical clash for AFC East supremacy. New England proceeded to run the ball 46 times for 222 yards in windy winter weather conditions and walked away with a 14-10 victory — as their quarterback attempted just three passes.

The word “outcoached” comes to mind quickly.

Bucco Bruce Arians says ignore that game when assessing the Bills, who will be in Tampa at The Licht House on Sunday.

“Throw that one away,” Arians said on SiriusXM NFL Radio last night.

Former Bucs rock star general manager and co-host Mark Dominik asked Arians how he evaluates that Bills-Belicheats game, and the head coach basically said it’s worthless. Arians was more interested in the film of Indianapolis hammering the Bills 41-15 three games ago.

He noted that the Colts had plenty of success running the ball from formations that the Bucs implement well. “A little more spread, a little more two-tight end offense and that’s right up our alley,” Arians said.

Arians also joked that it’s a safe bet Tom Brady will attempt more than three passes — on the first drive.

Joe isn’t terribly worried about the struggling Bills. Have they beaten a strong team this season? Probably not.

Buffalo (7-5) did beat the Washington Heinickes (6-6) in Week 3, before they were playing well, and they took out the then-struggling Chiefs in Week 5. But that’s it.

The Bills have no pass rush, and you won’t catch Joe trembling about any pass-rush-challenged team facing this mighty Bucs offense.

Old man defensive end Mario Addison, now a situational edge rusher, leads Buffalo with four sacks.

Also, Bills Pro Bowl CB Tre’Davious White tore his ACL and is out for the year.

  2. Bucsfanman Says:

We’re going to get their best shot. That’s the mentality we need to have going into this game. Forget NE and forget Indy. We need to take the Bills seriously in defending Raymond James.

  3. Buc50 Says:

I normally hate ground and pound it games but that was entertaining. The Patriots were faster to the hole on almost every play until the Bills LBs finally got a clue and shot the gaps first.

  4. Pruritus Ani Says:

The projected “victory” games are the ones that always seem to be the most difficult. It’s not just this year but has been a pattern with the franchise from day 1.

  5. Bird Says:

They are up and down team. They lost to the dang jags
Thats almost like losing to a college team

But they have talent. No question. Need all our dbs to play
We cant let Allen get out of the pocket
I Like that we play much better at home

I will be there with my 8 dollar beers
    Go bucs

  6. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

With as poorly as Buffalo defends the run, this could be a Rojo game with as hard as he runs.

  7. Bird Says:

When i read title , i thought it was about the designed timing screen on our own 4 yard line with 15 seconds left before half
    😂

What a dog turd that play call was

  8. Kgh4life Says:

The Bills on paper don’t have a ferocious pass rush, however, unlike the Bucs, the Bills get off the field on 3rd down.

  9. Listnfrmafar Says:

Don’t be fooled the team embarrassed themselves on national TV during and after the game. They are a pass first team with 3 great receivers and a good TE. If Bucs don’t get after Josh Allen this becomes a shoot out and I like their chances against a hurting secondary. This is a front 7 game and needs to be won in the trenches.

  10. Miller5252 Says:

Reading the title of article I was thinking this was going to be about that halftime INT Brady threw last week.

    @Rob

Which Buccaneers team are you watching?

    1. This will not be a Rojo game.
    2. Decent chance there will never be another Rojo game.
    3. Playoff Lenny has run as hard as Rojo this year and gets the ball more.
    4. Why would you want to switch from Playoff Lenny to Rojo?
    5. This will not be a Rojo game.

  12. PSL Bob Says:

I’m glad this game is in Tampa. I think the home crowd with give the Bucs the juice they need to ensure a win.

  13. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Rojo is listed as doubtful.

His vaginitis is flaring up again.

  14. Ouchywawa Says:

Was noted on MNF, that when defense set the edge on Josh Allen’s right side it made it difficult for him. He struggled when Pats were able to do that. He rolls right and runs/ throws as well as anyone in league.Bucs front should be able to do that and more.

  15. Lesco_Brandon Says:

This will definitely be an interesting game. A BUCS team trying to gain supremacy in the NFC against a rabid dog that has been cornered trying to survive and ready to jump on everybody. Definitely a must watch. GO BUCS !!!

  16. cover deuce Says:

Remember when you wrote off Washington and NOLA too? Foolish.

  17. Hodad Says:

My guess is their D is still sore from the beating they took from the Pats running game. Coming off a short week traveling to Tampa can’t help. I’d come out and see if they want to tackle Lenny, and stand up to our strong O line. Body shots, the run game, than the knock out blow to the head, play action passes. They will be a backed in a corner creature. The Bucs need to put them out of their misery.

  18. Cobraboy Says:

    Bet the over.

This one will be a track meet, since neither team’s D is stellar, especially if the Bucs D can’t get middle push/outside contain against Allen.

QBs with wheels are a Bowles nightmare.

  19. Stanglassman Says:

New England did a 12 personal with extra OL instead of TE like BA loves to do and it completely flummoxed the defense in their run fits. It’s too bad that took in the bag of tricks won’t be working anymore. I’m sure the Bills will be ready for it now.

  20. godlovesbucs Says:

As the defending champs, you get everyone’s best shot, period. The biggest advantage is we had a soft opponent on Sunday (atl is not physical) where’s buffalo had a slugfest Monday night. Harder more physical game and a day less rest, and travel to Tampa.

  21. captivajim Says:

Pats, Titans & Colts beat the Bills by running.. Lenny/Rojo running up /down the field will keep Allen on bench..

When Lenny gets us to the red zone; TB12 connects with ME,CG , & Gronk.

Allen will have success against our secondary–but BUCS WIN at Home 38-33
