Gambling Outfit Thinks Bryon Leftwich Is Favorite For Jags Job

December 16th, 2021

Bucs OC Byron Leftwich

Joe can fully understand the dot-connecting many people are busy with, linking Bucs offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich to the newly-opened head coaching job with Jacksonville in the wake of Urban Meyer getting tossed out of the First Coast area.

And now, a place that makes its bones in gambling believes Leftwich is the leading contender to be the next coach of the Jags.

By way of Evan Closky of WTSP-TV Channel 10, it seems Leftwich is 4/1 leading the pack of favorite candidates for the opening in Jacksonville.

You know what is strange to Joe about this list? Nowhere is Josh McDaniels included. Joe thought there was some 11th Commandment that an NFL team cannot have a head coaching opening without someone floating McDaniels’ name as a possible hire.

Joe is guessing McDaniels’ agent doesn’t have contacts with BetOnline.

Look, Joe thinks it would be cool for Leftwich to get that job — if he wants it. What concerns Joe is Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians has mentioned what could lead him to a permanent spot at his retirement lakehouse in Georgia would be if he had to rebuild his coaching staff.

Maybe that day is coming sooner than we want to believe?

I would like to see Bryon Leftwich be the next Bucs coach.

  2. geno711 Says:

That gambling outfit wants the sucker bettor to bet on any of those possible outcomes. Those are the ones that make those gambling outfits the richest!

  3. Medicated Pete Says:

Brady is gone in 7 weeks so who cares. This entire Franchise is starting over with Kyle Trask

  4. JimmyJack Says:

I think Byron would be a fool to take that job. Its like taking a Tampa Bay job during the lost decade……His career is likely headed nowhere if he takes that job. I say its a bad move.

Hopefully we keep one of our coordinators in house to become our future HC. Id rather keep the offense in tact and keep Byron, but that might be tough if he becomes a hot candidate.

  5. JimmyJack Says:

Pete we might go with Trask or another cheap option after Brady retires. That doesnt make Trask the future. If he cant hack it you better believe we will make a big move at QB……..Just like the Saints are doing we will have to use a cheap QB for one year to get into a better CAP position.

  6. BucfaninMi Says:

I don’t see Trask as the future. I’d like to see it, any QB that wears a Buccaneers uni. I root for. I can see another vet coming in and starting. It’s time though for our own “homegrown” QB.

  7. WillieG Says:

Hopefully there’s already an OC in waiting for when BL gets a head coaching job. Also, I hope BA wants to stick around to help that OC (with the Bucs and as a head coach candidate in about 7-8 years).

  8. Capece is Kaput Says:

Leftwich should avoid answering the phone if Khan calls. Block that number. That job is cursed. He should wait. That list of guys is not exactly hot competition. Better jobs should open up.
I would not worry about us yet if Leftwich goes.
My guess O-Coordinator next year will be Brady and Clyde. Now if Bowles goes somewhere else before he can appoint him next head coach, then that would probably send BA off into the sunset.

  9. Capece is Kaput Says:

Does anyone know…did Brady sign for 3 years or 2??

  10. Wesley Says:

Capece – originally signed a 2year contract but then signed an extension for a 3rd year.

  11. Roy T. Buford Says:

You never turn down a job to be a head coach when it’s your first shot at it. Leftwich should embrace the challenge if he’s offered it. Certainly he will be interviewed for a couple of reasons, but he’s a logical choice.

  12. Swampbuc Says:

Between Clyde and Harold Goodwin, with Tom being the defacto passing game coordinator, Arians won’t leave because Byron leaves. He’d be super pumped for Byron, I know that. As we all should. Other than what a crap job, although having the dude who looks like a chick as his quarterback might be a plus.

  13. Rod Munch Says:

Not a single trans or woman on that list and people want to pretend like we’re making progress? WOW… just pure, 100%, fascism at work.

  14. crazybucs_CL Says:

Absolutely, great guy, good luck as HC, NOT here.
BA, as far as we know, 7 more weeks. Great, back to retirement have fun.
    TB12 become QB/OC ; keep what JL and Tom decision is as far as coaching staff;
    Shall be a great 2022.
    Prepare Trask.

  15. Lamarcus Says:

I wouldn’t even consider BL over Eric B and Doug P. Eric B has experience with your Qbs and helped develop Patrick Mahomes while BL is a total disaster developing young Qbs.

  16. Craig Says:

I am not always in agreement with BL, but I still wish him luck. He is going to need it, The Jags are a disaster and it will hurt him more than help him.

It will be worse than when Bowles was coaching the Jets

  17. Swampbuc Says:

Hey Rod Munch — I think because the Jags already have a tranny at quarterback, they’re exempt from that kind of diversity.

  18. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Munch, if you’re married, do you drag your “old lady” around by the hair?

  19. cover deuce Says:

Goodwin is the odds on favorite to replace Leftwich if it happens. You’re being deliberately obtuse here bc I don’t think Arians would have to look far to find someone he trusts. We all know that Arians and Brady will continue to wield the lions share of influence wrt to the scheme.

  20. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Fancy Man,

Even worse than that….. no Native American, Hispanic or Asian candidates either.

My…..what a no -inclusive league this has become.

  21. Sc.Bucs fan Says:

Unless he is bringing Brady with him he’s in for a short stay. Like the Bucs they need a player to change the loser mindset.

  22. Defense Rules Says:

Wow, just read that Urban Meyers contract was 5 years at $10-$12 mil per year. Didn’t even make it through his 1st year. Said he was ‘fired for cause’ which will probably make for a real messy divorce. Personally hope he gets nothing out of it since he screwed the pooch BIG-TIME.

  23. Rayjay1122 Says:

Maybe this is a dumb question but, has BL even indicated interest in a HC position now? I mean OC for champs while working with TB12 and collecting some more finger bling or be HC for a sorry team? Hmmm, if it were me I choose stay and go for an open HC job later and possibly even the Glazers give an opportunity right here in a few years. Who knows?

  24. Tye Says:

Let’s say Left does get the job, Who might be a good replacement for him next year?…

Maybe Tom will do like Kellen Moore… Brady for OC when he retires… LoL

  25. Cainishere Says:

I have to say that Byron should stay as long as Brady is playing. Arians will be staying as long as Brady stays, and I believe whole heartedly that Todd will too. The odds of one of the two inheriting the team would be a possibility. I appreciate Byron’s connection with Jacksonville but if he is smart and waits a bit more his value will be through the roof. Taking the first stab in an organization like the Jaguars will heap way too much pressure on the young man to “WIN NOW”. GO BUCS

  26. Georger Says:

Love to see BL get the job, we would get a second round comp pick

  27. Eddie Marz Says:

Hope Leftwich stays with The Bucs. He could be our next head coach. 👍

  28. tampabayallday Says:

    It makes the most sense

  29. Shark Coast Tactical Says:

Let’s see? Coach Brady, live in Tampa where everyone loves you, learn from Arians, possibly get the HC job here or move to the dumpster fire that is Jacksonville? Put down the pipe. Any of the coaches would be foolish to leave until Brady retires. Everyday that man steps on the field is once in a lifetime event. It’s truly a special situation in Tampa that will be written about for years to come. I pray to God the Chaka Khan guy doesn’t call BL.

  30. ClodHopper Says:

    Anywhere except Jags and Jets.

  31. webster Says:

Larmarcus thats an idiotic statement. BL was the oc with that kid in arizona maybe a half a season. That same kid was cut the next year for murray and has been cut by 5 other teams since including by the bucs. That means rosen sucks period. U cant develop a player that sucks. BL had winston for one year and the bucs were were top 3 in total offense and top 3 in pts. BL has proven himself to be a viable candidate. I was just listening to freddie and fritz on espn and they were interviewing a sports writer for usa today and he was saying BL should be the #1 candidate for the jags job. He reason was he has talked to brady and BA and he emphasized how they told him BL runs the offensive show. He talked about and praised how BL interact with players. So all you people that keep trying to say BL does nothing are full of it. Every analyst who calls the buc games every week say the same thing during games. Regardless what you guys say BL is a good coaching candidate and its being noticed. Selfishly i hope he doesnt get the job. Im good with having both the #1 overall and scoring offense. There is nothing better than 1st no matter how many of you call him an idiot.

  32. adam from ny Says:

i forget her name but isn’t the girl quarterbacking the jags a svedish trans woman named svetlana ?

    🙂

  33. adam from ny Says:

    🙂 🙂 🙂

  34. Listnfrmafar Says:

Who cares? It’s not like he’s teaching Brady anything. Take the Pop Warner offensive schemes with you.

  35. webster Says:

Pop warner scheme that is number 1 overall and in points? Yea keep confirming you are an idiot

  36. Pickgrin Says:

Christensen is the QB coach and has had the most direct contact with Brady over the last 2 years….

Assuming Clyde and Tom’s relationship is a good one – I would think that makes Christensen the odds on favorite for promotion to OC if Leftwich leaves for a HC job.

Longtime Bucs fans will roll their eyes at that idea – because Clyde ran a truly pitiful offense here as OC some 20 years ago under Dungy… but that was a long time ago obviously and its BAs offense now which is a proven system. Aaaaand the talent level on offense is a tad bit higher now…. LOL

  37. Listnfrmafar Says:

Webster, oh ignorant one. Just because the offense is designed for children doesn’t mean the most talented offensive players cannot win with it. Take you blinders off and watch KC, Patriots, Dallas, San Fran, AZ and see what a real creative offense looks like. I know you’re going to say, ya we beat Dallas and Patriots snort snort. My answer to you, barely, Daks first game off the couch and a rookie QB had you shatting in your pants.

  38. webster Says:

No dumb @$$ if those team were so creative, they would be #1. THEIR NOT!!! The bucs are. Alot of teams have great offensive talent but only the bucs are #1. And again, romo spoke on BL’s creative play designs during the last game as do EVERY analyst that calls the bucs game. But sure lets listen to the crack addict on jbf listnfrmafer who is obviously the offensive playcalling guru. You are nuts my dude. Again there is nothing better than 1st you idiot

  39. Listnfrmafar Says:

Webster, I can only imagine the verbal abuse your wife has to endure if your not happy with her choice for dinner. Bucs are #1 because they have the best QB to play the game, the best oline in the NFL, 2 possibly 3 eventual HOF receivers, one was 7 time probowler and SB MVP and IMO the best TE to ever play the game, another HOFer. Is their another team thT can match that talent arse wipe? I can’t wait until BL leaves and goes 2 & 15. His only savior would to hope he coaches a team with Wilson, Roger’s or Watson to make him look good. If not you will be the next Ndog and disappear into the abyss from embarrassment. Dbag!
