Details About Antonio Brown Investigation Surface

December 5th, 2021

How NFL busted him.

Very interesting background from the Wall Street Journal published Friday morning about the Antonio Brown fake V-card investigation.

Louise Radnofsky and Andrew Beaton noted in their Friday morning story that the NFL never did prove that Brown’s fake V-card was fake. In fact, the card itself was real. The information on the card was shady.

(Brown purchased his fake V-card from “Last Chance U” alum John Franklin.)

Still, the NFL investigators could not prove the card was fake. Only after investigators spoke several times with Brown and Mike Edwards did the stories begin to fall apart. In particular, Radnofsky and Beaton noted, was Brown’s claim he got the jab in Citrus County (despite the Bucs having a medical trailer staffed by medical professionals who can administer the jab located just steps from the players’ entrance to One Buc Palace — Joe has been in that trailer several times to undergo COVID tests).

NFL sources also told Radnofsky and Beaton that neither Brown (nor Edwards) are the first NFL players popped for using V-cards. Prior to Brown’s investigation, the NFL just let each individual club deal with the naughty player on their own.

Brown wasn’t the first NFL player whose vaccine card has caused concern this season. The person said there have been several instances in which teams—who are tasked with overseeing their personnel and these issues—had flagged misspellings or the dates of a second shot being off. Those teams handled the problems internally with the player—asking them if they were sure they wanted to submit that card, for example.

Joe is assuming here that because of the high-profile nature of the Brown allegation, that is why the NFL took it over.

So Joe thinks it is fair to say if the NFL could not tell Brown’s V-card (and Edwards’) was bogus, then the Bucs never suspected it was forged either. So when the Bucs, including Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians, said it was a non-story, they believed their  intel and evidence was valid.

The NFL investigation source told Radnofsky and Beaton that had Brown’s chef never sang to the Tampa Bay Times, the NFL would have had no idea Brown (or Edwards?) used a bogus V-card.

Dan Graziano of BSPN reported Brown really did take the jab in training camp after an unidentified person told Brown how badly he would get in trouble for trying to pass off a fake V-card.

You can’t make this stuff up, AB got “corrupted” by a guy from “Last chance U”
What would Tony Robbins say? What would Darcy Glazer say? Maybe Licht and BA were hammered the day they signed these two. Hey I’m not complaining, I find it all good entertainment. 😂

  2. Cleanhouse Says:

Wonder if TB12 gives a rip about it, he seems to be one of these big Republican types who probably hates the fact that the league makes them jump through these hoops to begin with.

  3. Fishhawkbuc Says:

Time to cut the distracting clown.

  4. Robert Says:

So what. He did nothing wrong. I got the Brandon jab and I don’t know where my card is.

  5. ATLBuc Says:

Brady is not going to let them cut AB and Edwards is too good to cut over such a minor infraction.

  6. Kentucky Buc Says:

So , several NFL players were in possession of fake cards.

  7. RottenAmiigo94 Says:

I love how some fans are basically wanting to go back to the good old den of depression days. Get rid of all our good players. Some of y’all need to go be Lions fans I swear 😂 enjoy these times while we have them. There here today and gone tomorrow. Seriously enjoy these championship runs well we have them.

  8. Medicated Pete Says:

Our best WR isn’t getting cut.

Pete was kicked outta The Redneck Summer games in 2012 after testing positive for moonshine after i broke the world record in the Hubcap Hurl

  9. Kentucky Buc Says:

@MedPete. I finished 4th last year in the lower Possum County Beer Cap Snap.

  10. Darin Says:

You’re right petey Godwin is safe.
Man Brown should know there’s no reason to fake a shot. Most sociopaths die from old age in prison. Only the good die young. Dont fear the jab or sickness brownie. Soak up your fav wrs last 4 games here petey.

  11. Defense Rules Says:

Brown & Edwards obviously tried to circumvent team rules by getting fake vax cards, and if I were BA I’d be rightly pissed. But it sounds like they got vaccinated prior to training camp, and so presumably didn’t put anyone at-risk as initially reported (anyone can transmit COVID, vax or non-vax, but we won’t go there).

Now we learn that others have done the same thing, but the teams were allowed to deal with it. Doubt that any of them suspended their own players for 3 games, but that’s just speculation. Sounding more & more like the NFL isn’t being consistent in how they enforce their policies.

  12. Kalind Says:

No. One. Cares. Real card, fake card, jab, no jab. Why does anyone care what anyone else does? Take care of yourself how you feel is best and move on with your life.

I sincerely could not care about ABs fake vcard any less. What is lower than absolute zero? That’s my level of care about his fake.

  13. westernbuc Says:

So AB corrected his mistake and they’re still punishing him. Amazing.

If the NFL or anyone actually cares, they’d audit every team. They don’t care, so they’ll just use AB as the whipping boy to serve as a warning.

I saw Rich Eisen call this reprehensible. Henry Ruggs killed a person driving drunk and the media calls it “tragic.” Barkevious Mingo ruined children and we hear nothing. Deshaun Watson is still on a roster and the media pretended he was going to play this year.

But sure, a player at virtually zero risk of dying from Covid is “reprehensible” for forging documents. Great work guys, you’re crushing it.

  14. Kentucky Buc Says:

Where’s the media outrage for all the other players that were in possession of fake cards.

  15. Roy T. Buford Says:

I never suspected the Bucs were lying or doing anything other than what they were supposed to do. I also never believed Brown was clean on it as it seems from what I read he manages to find trouble too often. But it seems he did get the vax in preseason. My point is the Bucs look to have done all the league required them to do, Brown got his discipline from the same authoritative body (NFL) that makes the rules the Bucs followed (the stinkin’ league), and they gave Brown and others a 3-game suspension. Arians spoke from the heart on this being a “non-story” and commenting at all is really his only mistake. He’s the HC and should defer all questions to the freakin’ league and others in the head office…who should ALSO defer to the league and the investigation. Arians’ comment that he hopes the NFL is looking at all teams is a logical shot at Goodell, but that should have come from the Glazers, not BA. Where are they? This is when owners should talk. My take is this is done, but guys like ESPN, CBS (Florio), et al can’t get off it. So here we are on gameday and this distraction is hanging over the Bucs. It will come up no less than 4 times during the game–as if it needs to be said. Not a good thing.

  16. Bush's Coke Spoon Says:

    Kentucky Buc Says:
“@MedPete. I finished 4th last year in the lower Possum County Beer Cap Snap.”
    .
    .

I once finished 2nd in the Chasco Fiesta’s watermelon seed-spitting contest.

  17. Kentucky Buc Says:

Let me get this straight. These other players were actually caught by their teams with fake V cards. They then got vaxxed because they got caught. No punishment. Brown and Edwards corrected their own mistake by getting vaxxed without being caught. 3 game suspension.

  18. David Says:

    Now I’m confused ….

Why were other teams allowed to deal with their own players with issues like this but the Bucs had Edwards & Brown suspended three games?

I had no problem with the decision initially but now this seems like BS

  19. Roy T. Buford Says:

Westernbuc, I agree with about 80% of what you said. Good post. I do think that what Brown did was severely wrong first, because he did put others at risk (though be it for a short time, which needs to emphasized when people talk about it–Brown is clearly not the brightest guy out there). Second, it’s the leaue rules, as sorry and unevenly enforced as they are. Brown is not in a position to decide what rules his employer and union agree on, and a condition of his employment is to follow them. There are a lot of wrongs here for many sides I think, and yes, that includes the media hacks.

  20. Listnfrmafar Says:

So why wasn’t the team allowed to deal with this issue like other teams were? They were going to suspend them for 6-8 games knowing others have done this. WTF, the NFL decides who they want to make an example of??? This is insane, thank you NGLPA by giving Godell and his henchmen the middle finger. I did believe 3 games was fair now it’s f-ing way over the top. One might ask, DID Roger’s have a fake card??

  21. Listnfrmafar Says:

Wait a minute. The NFL new others were using fake cards? If they did isn’t that covering up a so called Federal Crime? So Godell and his henchmen are aiding and abetting in a Federal crime spree. Interesting.

  22. Kentucky Buc Says:

My question exactly @Listnfrmafar . Not to mention it says they were caught on their second shot or got a booster to be covered. How long did these guys use fake cards ?

  23. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Corrected their mistake?

    Sorry, but that’s just BS.
I’m not calling for either one to be cut but to say it was a mistake is seriously misstating the original intent.

    They willingly lied.

  24. Hodad Says:

Edwards is the bigger loss right now, AB hasn’t been playing. The Bucs could also suspend Brown some games especially if he needs more time to get healthy. Hit him in the pocket book. He’s already lost 3 game checks, let him lose 2 more.

  25. Dew Says:

    Witch Hunt

  26. Kentucky Buc Says:

Yes they did doosh bag . So did the players from other teams who didn’t get suspended or fined.

  27. Man Child Says:

All I got out of this is AB will be fresh for the playoffs.

  28. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

“Sounding more & more like the NFL isn’t being consistent in how they enforce their policies.”

I am shocked and appalled that a fine, upstanding moral institution like the NFL would do such a thing!

Commissioner Mangina: “We’re suspending Ray Rice for two games for violating the league domestic violence policy. Wait…… there’s a video? In that case we REALLY REALLY are upset now and we are double secret suspending him. After all, we have a reputation to uphold.”

  29. Brandon Jeff Says:

How is this a federal offense when the vaccine mandate issue has already been addressed in a court of law with the judge ruling that the mandate is illegal. It goes against our constitutional rights.

  30. Capt.Tim Says:

Are the the Feds still called the FBI, or have we made the change official to
    “KGB” yet?
Land of the free. As long as you do as your told.

  31. Jp09 Says:

**make sure you get two boosters today before the game

  32. Demete Says:

Rob in LOL, I triple dog dare you to reveal where you heard of this “double secret suspension”!!!

  33. Alanbucsfan Says:

The Storm Troopers have re-emerged in Austria and Germany and Bucs fans are debating AB’s availability for playoffs.

Dr Andreas Noack story is online

  34. Jbeachbuc Says:

    I dislike snitches.

  35. Winny Testaverde Says:

In an attempt to appease the law firm of Stroud, Florio, CoughMan, Dickum & Howe…the Bucs agree to suspend John Benjamin-Franklin for life. Hopefully this brings an end to this charade disguised as “journalism”.

  36. Since76 Says:

I could understand someone getting their panties all wadded up if the vaccines worked. But come on man. Vax doesnt prevent you from getting covid and doesnt stop you from giving the gift of covid to someone else. This is all BS.

  37. ModHairKen Says:

Okay. Huge lapse in judgment. But the punishment does not fit the crime. And to not now scour the rest of the NFL is wrong by Goodell and his band of idiots. They don’t want to know because the publicity is so bad. At least these guys will come back rested, albeit poorer and angrier. Need that playoff money!!!

  38. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

Demete says: “Rob in LOL, I triple dog dare you to reveal where you heard of this “double secret suspension”!!!”

State v. Dean Wormer – citations to follow….

  39. Listnfrmafar Says:

So ALL you Bucs fans that wanted AB cut and his head on a platter because he is the virus of the NFL. How do you feel now that many additional players from other teams did they same and the NFL swept it under the rug? No doubt in my mind Roger’s had a fake card. I give DR credit in pretty much every post he made on this subject he claimed there was more to the story. The rest of you do-gooder awipes go right to the jugular before hearing all the facts.

  40. Beeej Says:

So. AB stiffed a guy for $10k who had incriminating evidence. NOW, AB is out 3 games without pay, which iv reckon to be about $500k per game. Clearly, he didn’t take economics in his college career.

Anyhow, the only people on the Bucs who are in danger from Covid are BA and Tom Moore, owing too they’re age, and BA’s impressive beer gut. I’ll assume they’ve had every shot that’s available

  41. Cobraboy Says:

If the vaxxxes work, does an unvaxxxed put anyone “at risk?”

Fact is the Noble Vaxxxed can transmit the WuFlu as efficiently as anyone else. Maybe more. and their infection/hospitalization/death rate is skyrocketing.

  42. Cobraboy Says:

I’m surprised the NFL didn’t sentence Brown to a couple of ours in public stocks so the Uber Vaxxer Stormtroopers can throw tomatoes and rotten eggs at him.

  43. Jmarkbuc Says:

Once it made it into the media cycle.. the Shield had to act. I assume all the other players didn’t stiff their employees and piss them off enough to expose them to the media.

That’s one of AB’s biggest problems, too much Sapp in him. Pay what you owe.

  44. Beeej Says:

This is why corporations often pay off nuisance lawsuits

  45. Cobraboy Says:

I’m not pi$$ed Brown tried to get around the vaxxx poison. I give him props for that.

I AM pi$$ed he tried to stiff a guy who rendered an honest service at an agreed price.

The former is classic civil disobedience, and we need more of it. The latter is unethical and immoral.

I’d be shocked if any Buc players actually give a crap about Brown’s jab evasion tactics, and suspect many also considered such a strategery.

Brady is a health freak. Has anyone actually audited HIS Vaxxx card?

We are usually about 6 months to a year behind them. “Buckle up, Bucaroos!

  47. The Beer Whisperer Says:

Fake cards for fake vaccines, should be acceptable.

Since these vaccines don’t actually work, the CDC and Mirriam-Websters Dictionary, recently changed the definition of vaccine.

Don’t take my word for it, look it up.

  48. Joe Says:

You can’t make this stuff up, AB got “corrupted” by a guy from “Last chance U”

LOL Ain’t that the truth! 🙂

  49. 1sparkybuc Says:

It’s still the unvaccinated who are being hospitalized and dying. Oh well, those people won’t be voting next year…….or will they?
