Carlton Davis Edging Closer To Activation
December 1st, 2021How optimistic is Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians?
He believes there is a shot that for the first time since the first half of the season-opener against Dallas, the Bucs may have their full starting secondary available.
While Arians wasn’t yet about to declare starting corner Carlton Davis ready to rock and roll, Arians was very upbeat about his progress to reclaiming his spot with the Bucs’ starting defense.
“There is a good chance,” Arians said of having his starting backfield play against Atlanta on Sunday.
“Carlton looked real good again today. His volume is picking up a little bit. Sean [Murphy-Bunting] did well last week. Fingers crossed, we will get them all back.”
But it is not just Davis, who hasn’t played since the win over the Belicheats in Week 4, who is dinged up. Mike Edwards is nursing a sore knee suffered when he made a potential game-saving tackle on a kick return Sunday. And Jamel Dean has a banged-up shoulder that Arians yesterday said is more of a pain-tolerance issue.
The Bucs’ pass defense crumbling when Dean left the field with his injury, and the porous way the pass defense played without SMB in November, demonstrates just how important it is for Davis and the rest of the gang to be game-ready.

Please hurry… If SMB made such a big difference I can’t imagine how solid our defense will be with both CD and SMB healthy at the same time.

With Edward’s playing so well in the slot Davis Coming back and Dean Just dealing with a bruise smb might be seeing a lot of the bench I wouldn’t be mad at that

We shouldn’t need Carlton back for the dixie chicks…. I’d be cautious & hopefully he’s ready to go against Bills & the playoffs

Maybe it’s just Joe but Matty Ice has weapons to use. And Pitts seems to be getting better and better.

And Ridley. And Gage. And their second TE. They just can’t run the ball much at all.
