Aaron Stinnie Has Patellar Tendon Issue

November 30th, 2021

Super Bowl guard Aaron Stinnie

The Bucs were dealt a blow to left guard Aaron Stinnie just 10 offensive snaps into Sunday’s game in Indianapolis.

Stinnie left with a knee injury and a little more clarity to the injury was revealed today on the Buccaneers Radio Network.

Bucco Bruce Arians said Stinnie did “something to his patellar tendon” and Arians was not upbeat about Stinnie’s return. The head coach was, however, sounding positive about starting left guard Ali Marpet coming back very soon.

Arians described how the team was hopeful until Saturday that Marpet would be able to play against the Colts, but Marpet let them know before the team plane departed that he couldn’t pull it off with his bad oblique muscle.

The Bucs have yet to place Stinnie on injured reserve but it smells like that’s what’s coming next. Hopefully, Stinnie’s issue is one that can heal fully before the playoffs.

Old school Bucs fans will remember that torn patellar tendons were what short circuited the career of fan favorite running back Cadillac Williams.

Yikes. That’s usually season ending and a year recovery.

  2. Anonymous Says:

Just don’t ask him to play running back

  3. PassingThru Says:

    Yeah, that’s a potentially season-ending injury. Let’s hope it’s a strain and not a tear.

  4. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Joe, is Aaron Stinnie in a contract year?

  5. Buc4evr Says:

Leverette needs to be ready, hope it’s not a torn patellar tendon? Any more news on Dean, Edwards for that matter Sherman?

  6. Sparky Says:

Geez, enough with the speculation. Just report what he says and stop guessing.

  7. SOEbuc Says:

He’s a free agent with everyone else

Good to hear about Marpet, not so much for Stinnie.

I hear Cadillac’s name come up and I can’t stop the tears from flowing. I love that guy and it was sad that the injuries depleted a super promising career. Hopefully Marpet comes back this week and that Stinnie can heal up for the playoffs just like Joe said.

Sparky man, if you just want regurgitation of quotes instead of speculation, predictions and critical thinking, then go pick up a USA Today or start your own website.

    Get well, Playoff Stinnie.

  12. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Yep, torn patellar tendons were what took the wheels off of Cadillac.

  13. Bucsfanman Says:

Get well soon Stinnie! Hopefully Marpet will be a ‘go’ for Atlanta. If not, Leverett played admirably on Sunday.

  14. Hodad Says:

Maybe we’ll see the kid we drafted from N.D., Hainsey soon. We did have another guard undrafted out of S.C..

  15. Jeff Says:

His career is over but he earned more than most of will earn in a lifetime. I’d tear my patella right now for 2-3 million.

  16. Dean Giusti Says:

God damn injuries are gonna cost us a repeat this yr.

    @Leighroy
I enjoy this site and I’m all for critical thinking, and predictions based on stats, or in-depth knowledge. But when it comes to injuries, Joe has neither. He only has vague updates from BA and that is not enough to come to even an educated guess, as evidenced by how many times he’s been flat wrong.
