“You Got To Fight That Urge To Be Complacent”
October 18th, 2021With a 5-1 record, it’s hard to believe the Bucs are experiencing a Super Bowl hangover. But they indeed may be and are talented enough to overcome it.
Vita Vea danced around that subject Friday on SiriusXM NFL Radio.
He noted how valuable it is to have the entire Super Bowl team back, but he implied that comfort also can drive a level confidence and calm that can lead to complacency.
Vea talked about the great challenge of “figuring out what we gotta improve and stop focusing on what we did last year.” He called it a weekly challenge.
“That’s another tough part of it [getting the opponent’s best effort]; the biggest thing coming into this year is we’re the defending champs, so it was harder for us because you got to fight that urge to be complacent,” Vea said.
It was an interesting take from Vea in Week 6 of an NFL season.
Joe is ok with the Bucs finding their groove and not playing their best football in October, though Joe would suggest the offensive line and Tom Brady look in playoff form right now.
Fight any complacency again next week if you need to. Get your minds and approaches right against lesser opponents.
Regardless, Joe expects to see the Bucs firing on all cylinders in two weeks at New Orleans. No excuse not be on your A-game in that electric atmosphere against your top division rival.

Complacency will cost them the 1st rd bye & Superbowl bid. They need the top seed this season badly.

Right where we need to be.

The Rams, Packers, Cowboys and Cardinals didn’t look complacent yesterday. Bucs better have it strapped on. Long way to go but this looks like a strong playoff field.

If we can come out of NO with a W, we’ll be sitting at 7-1 going into the BYE. I like the sound of that. I hope we have some of our starting DBs back for the 2nd half of the season. Want everyone to be firing on all cylinders when we enter the playoffs, hopefully with the No. 1 seed.

When you feel like getting complacent just look at the other top teams and their records. If we want home field in the post season we better keep winning and not get complacent.

He sure looked complacent dancing on the sidelines at the Eagles game.

Love Big Vita. I surely would not like to be one of his Sundays targets
