Who Is The Fastest Bucs Player?

Fastest?

Now this is kind of a fun study.

Over at the four-letter, Jeremy Fowler and Brian Burke teamed up to look at the fastest and slowest teams in the NFL. Using official NextGen Stats, they determined the fastest player clocked in a game situation by NextGen sensors.

The Bucs are not the fastest team and not even in the top-10. The Bucs are ranked No. 12 for speed.

Why are the champions not ranked higher? Because, per NextGen, the Bucs’ slow-arse quarterbacks are dragging them down. Per NextGen, the Bucs quarterbacks (Tom Brady and Blaine Gabbert) make up the slowest position unit on the team.

The fastest unit? The secondary.

Now the article doesn’t list who the slowest Bucs player is. Just a hunch it is Brady or Gabbert. But the fastest?

Is it Antonio Brown? Is it Chris Godwin? Is it Sean Murphy-Bunting? Could Antoine Winfield squeeze in there?

Nope. Your fastest clocked in a game situation is cornerback Jamel Dean.

The Bucs have the 19th-fastest offense and the seventh-fastest defense.

Joe is a bit surprised the defense isn’t faster with Devin White, Lavonte David, Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and even Vita Vea.

I remember when dean got drafted he ran a 4.3 at the combine and the guys on NFL Network was saying they didn’t see that kind of speed on tape!

  2. Kentucky Buc Says:

Nobody faster than AB in a short burst or gear shift. AB is the master of the gear shift.

  3. JGhotier Says:

Darden hit the 3rd fastest speed in the entire League this past week (and he’s not even settled in the NFL yet….wait until he gets comfortable and the NFL game starts to slow down for him)

Dean being that fast for his size is kinda nice though. I do find it funny the Bucs official website has Dean and CDIII measured at almost the exact same height and weight….yet Dean looks noticeably bigger and taller than Carlton on the field to me.

    Here’s another useless stat.

That pick he got a couple weeks ago was a good demonstration of that, he pretty much just outran the receiver

  6. SB~LV Says:

Dean is a very large DB if you ever see him live.
Say… what’s the word on Scotty?

  7. Listnfrmafar Says:

    TB12, he’s everything else.

  8. Joe in Michigan Says:

Gabbert actually ran a 4.62, one of the reasons he was overdrafted. Brady’s 5.28 and Trask’s 5.08 are what makes the Bucs QB’s the slowest.

  9. Bird Says:

Yah brady running like a baby giraffe straight out of the womb does not help. Plus we have one of the oldest teams.

    Several players 30 and above

  10. Roy T. Buford Says:

I would have thought Scotty Miller. He’s got to be up there.

  11. Dman Says:

Tom Brady is the fastest 💭💭💭💭 😂😂😂😂

  12. Joe Says:

I would have thought Scotty Miller. He’s got to be up there.

Remember these are game situations, not 40-dashes.

    Here’s another useless stat.

    Not to NFL folks.

  14. Kalind Says:

Does that include Miller??? I’d think he would be the fastest on the team

  15. KingLDavid54 Says:

Here’s what my gut tells me from tape… for offense, initial burst, AB, but top-end speed, Miller, and overall, Darden! For defense, initial burst, GetLive45, but top-end speed, Dean!

  16. Tackleblockwin Says:

Heck yeah, In pads Dean is very fast. On offense my guess would be Scotty, but It will be interesting to see how fast Darden is when his time comes. He looked fast on the return last week, but I still think he may be faster than that.

  17. Kobe Faker Says:

“AB is the #1 mismatch in the NFL

If AB plays Sunday, Bucs win

If AB doesnt play, recent Harvard grad Jameis Winston will be victorious”

  18. Anonymous Says:

Brady, fastest ever to 7 rings !!!

  19. Danr Says:

You don’t have to run as fast if you run to the right spot to start with.

At least on defense if they are playing zone and averaging out the speeds of all players it would kill the average.
