Rob Gronkowski Has Multiple Fractured Ribs

October 2nd, 2021

Bad news.

Bucs foot-rubbing, car-littering, film guru Rob Gronkowski may be out a while.

Per Adam Schefter of BSPN, Gronk cleared initial X-rays on his ribs last Sunday against the Rams but further tests revealed he had suffered multiple fractures.

So it appears Gronk will be on the shelf a while.

O.J. Howard, time to make yourself some money.

Glad Bruce let him go back into the game. Did we use an old Flintstone’s X-ray machine at So-Fi

  2. HC Grover Says:

Ouch. Been there and it HURTS! Not much can be done for it.

  3. Bojim Says:

Oh man. Been through that. Hang in there big guy. We are thinking good thoughts for you.

  4. Buczilla Says:

Damn, that sucks. At this point, I expect nothing out of Howard other than continuing to be a near bust.

  5. Dewey Selmon Says:

Here comes the OJ talk, I think Brate benefits more with Gronk out. Could become Brady’s safety blanket with Bernard being out and no faith in the pass catching abilities in Rojo and Lenny.

  6. unbelievable Says:

    Gonna be a while folks

  7. DaBux Says:

At least our “rough stretch” is early in the season. But man oh man OJ Howard is now on the stage with a make or break career opportunity.

  8. NPRbuc Says:

I fell on pool ladder last October. X- rays showed one broken rib. After two months of sleeping in a lounge chair Dr sent for MRI. It was then reported that I had “ four, HEALING fractures at ribs 7,8,9 and 10” At least I didn’t feel that I was such a woozy! In total, 4 months before I could sleep in a bed with no pain.Being a tough guy like Gronk, I’m sure he will heal much quicker. Maybe this will lead him to wear rib protectors/ flack vest? They make them for a reason. Get back soon Gronk. GO BUCS!

  9. unbelievable Says:

Many of you seem to be forgetting OJ is still not close to 100%.

Expecting anything much out of him before week 8 is misguided in my opinion.

It is what it is. We have plenty of talented receivers and backs, one tight end missing ain’t an excused.

  10. unbelievable Says:

    *an excuse.

  11. mark2001 Says:

And just waived Khalil Davis? Wow.

  12. Coburn Says:

I figured the moment it happened broken ribs. I guess it must be hairline fractures that wouldn’t show on xray

  13. Rod Munch Says:

Injuries really starting to add up now, and we’re only 3 games into the season. Ugh.

  14. Winny Testaverde Says:

Gutsy…but curious as to why he reentered the game vs the Rams. “Clean” X-rays or not. Bucs got the chocolate knocked out of them at SoFi…sure hope they get a rematch vs those guys…Sean McVay might be more painful than Sean Payton these days…and that’s saying a lot.

  15. crazybucs_CL Says:

multiple huh…it was very dangerous hit…feel bad for the guy.
he came here for Tom, Tom should let him go now.

  16. DanBucsFan Says:

STR8 WARRIOR!!! Anyone who questions that needs to stop lol… Take 2 weeks off and the quit hahaha… Heel up Gronk. They can hold dwn fort and when he comes back his whole body will be fresh and ready for the playoff push

  17. DanBucsFan Says:

Good thing we have 3 #1 wide outs lol

  18. DanBucsFan Says:

Prob gave him the ol cortisone shot n back at it bubba lol.. Im sure he goin bk in was on him he ALWAYS BEEN team 1st dude

  19. Jerry Says:

Probably hairline fractures. Still take awhile to heal. Probably out until after the bye.

  20. Swampbuc Says:

How do they miss broken ribs ion X-ray? Idiots

  21. Jerry R Jones Says:

    Probably.

  22. Aceofaerospace Says:

I hope he sits until the playoffs. We need him then. Take care Gronk! See you at the show.

  23. Bojim Says:

    Apparently, I’m wasting my time?

  24. PassingThru Says:

And the hits keep on coming.

I had a feeling something like this was going to happen to Gronk, he rarely ever played through a 16 game schedule. Just be thankful that it was his ribs and not his wheels. Lots of players aim for Gronk’s knees due to his size and strength.

  25. BerrickDrooks Says:

Well we won’t need him to block really because the running game sucks no matter what

  26. mg Says:

Mr. Magoo must have been reading the initial x-rays.

  27. CarolinaBuc82 Says:

Joe, don’t you mean time to earn his money 💰

  28. Listnfrmafar Says:

I think you are all forgetting the blocking support he brings to keep Brady upright.

  29. Ben green Says:

Its been great watching gronk this year. Reminds Ben of the old days. Nothing worse than ribs. You can’t do squat, breathing is incredibly painful sometimes. It’ll be a long road back also. It’ll could be at least 8 weeks before contact. Ben has seen gronk take some life threatening hits. The TJ ward hit left gronk in hospital for a week. He’s the best tight ends in the history of the game. Ben doesn’t want to see anymore hits. The man hasn’t spent a dime of his NFL salary, just endorsements. Walk away while you still can walk……

  30. D-Rome Says:

I think you are all forgetting the blocking support he brings to keep Brady upright.

I’m not. It’s also the reason why he’s arguably the greatest TE in NFL history. No TE on this roster can fill this loss. OJ Howard won’t cut it.

  31. Joe Says:

Joe, don’t you mean time to earn his money 💰

Nope. Joe meant what he wrote.

It is a contract year for him. At this point, there aren’t going to be too many GMs getting into fistfights trying to sign him next spring.

  32. Bucschamp Says:

How many weeks will he miss?

  33. Jeff Says:

Without Gronk this is a 10 win team. Pats 24 Bucs 21

  34. Coburn Says:

Swamp if they are hairline fractures and. It broken all the way through they won’t show on an x-ray. Had one in my foot x-ray didn’t show. Bone scan will show it with contrast dye. Apparently MRI will as well, which I didn’t realize.

  35. IDROOLPEWTER&RED Says:

“O.J. Howard, time to make yourself some money.”

Nope. It’s time to earn his money and get a 2nd contract!

  36. Oneilbuc Says:

No excuses we have a top 5 roster with a lot of depth we are going to win so don’t worry.

  37. Hoops Says:

Hope Cam is healthy and the master of his domain. He’s been money and time for him to shine. One more TD from him will make it 30. He came real close last week to getting it. Go bucs.

  38. Buxszntkt Says:

Brate can’t block, he’s really more of another wide receiver. Our very bright Harvard grad TE isn’t built like a TE from the big schools, can’t fill the same role as Gronk.

  39. adam from ny Says:

i think gronk is banged up good without fractured ribs…

but if he plays tonight, he could easily leave the game with fractured ribs…

knowing how tender those ribs are, if belichik really hates on gronk, he might have guys just run thru his ribcage on multiple plays he gets the ball…

    so yes, best he sits…

    watch him play next week

  40. adam from ny Says:

it really is oj howard time…

time to earn your coin and give the fans something to remember

  41. CalBucsFan Says:

Didn’t HC Arians say post game last Sunday Gronk’s MRI was negative? And if x-rays did I show 3 broken ribs, then what the hell was he doing coming back into the game in the 2nd half?!

  42. former ne fan Says:

Yes Bucs took an overall beating from the Rams. But it’s just one regular season game. Remember the NO games last year….

Injuries occur–that’s football. Gronk will be back; he always is. Brady knows his stuff and he knows he has the most potent group of receivers in the league, even w/o Gronk. He won’t miss a beat. He’s not going to NE to feel nostalgic or set the passing record. He’s going there to demolish the Patriots!

Bucs will play LAR’s in the playoffs and probably in Tampa. Do you REALLY think a QB like Stafford–who’s nothing more than a clone of Goff and who is 0-3 when his Detroit teams were good enough to go to the post-season–isn’t going to fizzle out at some point this year?

OJ shines tonight. Cam steadies the ship until 87’s return.

  43. Buxszntkt Says:

Makes you wonder , the bucs must have known his ribs were broken at latest by their first injury report, that’s Wednesday right. So was this BA gamesmanship (rule violation or not) forcing Belicheat to game plan for Gronk a bit ??? Fx’s may be missed on x-rays but they are pretty obvious on exam and can’t miss on mri, Whenever that was done. Good for BA and the Bucs if that was the point.

  44. Ben green Says:

Stafford is light years ahead of that bum goff.

  45. webster Says:

Former ne fan you obviously have no clue with what the he11 you are talking about. Another clueless individual who put wins and losses on an individual player and not the team. Since you are a new england fan, you should know just how important a TEAM is to win and not just a qb.
