“There’s Just A Lot Of Bluntness Here”
September 17th, 2021Just before Christmas last season, the Bucs were having their ass handed to them at halftime, 17-0, by the bumbling Falcons.
The story goes that Jason Pierre-Paul stepped up in the locker room, freaked out, said things that needed to be said and the Bucs lived happily ever after en route to a Super Bowl win.
Left tackle Donovan Smith was asked about that yesterday and noted that he doesn’t remember what he ate yesterday.
But, Smith said, whatever JPP did and said is commonplace in the Tampa Bay locker room.
“There’s just a lot of bluntness here … our numbers were called,” Smith said, adding that the team knew it wasn’t playing its best ball before smothering Atlanta in the second half.
Joe’s glad the Bucs have JPP’s powerful voice, but Joe’s also glad the Bucs are a mature veteran team with talent to overcome issues every week. The rah-rah stuff is nice, but it’s ability and coaching that typically win out.
That’s how the Bucs beat Atlanta twice in December and January last season, and how Joe expects them to crush the Falcons on Sunday.

It’s all about accountability and responsibility. Do your job and beat the man in front you.

Scoring more points wins out every time without fail.

It’s crazy how confrontation when done right can be productive. But then other times it can be devastating. Anyone see golladay go off on Jones last night? I doubt that will help their team.

We will never eat a W speeches in this town again thankfully. Tom Brady goes out and does his job and leads his team every week but you never heard about a pregame speech ever. Defense needs it more then offenses

I expect that there were a few in the locker room after last week’s close escape that laid down the law. We’re better than this. Get it together. Let’s go!

The fact that they were down 17-0 to Atlanta in that game, which was a playoff game for all intents and purposes, with the same roster they trot out there Sunday, tells you everything as far as expectations. This is the NFL, amd this team goes to sleep way to frequently given their talent.
I expect another close game. You should too.

We also expected them to crush the Cows last week!
