“Best Game Ever”
September 29th, 2021Joe remains fired up for the game delivered Sunday by second-year receiver Tyler Johnson.
He looks better every time Joe watches it.
Bucco Bruce Arians pulled no punches about Johnson on The Bruce Arians Show this week.
“Tyler had probably his best game ever,” Arians said via the Buccaneers.com stream. “And just given opportunities, he’s going to make plays. He’s a heck of a player.
“[The Rams] were not going to give us anything deep,” Arians continued, referring to it not being a Scotty Miller kind of game.
“[Johnson] played outstanding and hopefully we’ll get [Antonio Brown] back this week. I mean we’ve tried to get him out there some even when A.B. is playing, certain packages, because he is a great blocker like Chris [Godwin]. And that sets up some good play-action for him. But if you got Tyler out there, A.B. is sitting. It’s a good problem to have; that’s for sure.”
Johnson had three catches Sunday for 63 yards. It was his highest output since debuting in the Bucs offense last year in Chicago.
With Miller now on injured reserve, Johnson should get at least a few more snaps than usual even if Brown returns.
Joe feels like Johnson is ready to explode. Just a feeling. He must be steaming with confidence now after overcoming a rough start to training camp and having a strong game

I still think its funny some fans actually thought he was in danger of being cut

Tyler Johnson might be the slowest WR on the Bucs roster but his hands and ability to catch the ball is just as good as Godwin.

TJ looks great coming in and out of cuts he looks like a natural NFL Wr. I expect big things from him.

Agree.

During training camp we were told by the guy that coaches from a golf cart seat that Tyler Johnson was a fat lazy bastard.
September 29th, 2021 at 7:49 pm
Going to be hard to explode with the guys in front of him.

gotb… not close…Saints much? They said he came in out of shape and should know better than that. Not that he was what you said. Wow.
And Hodad… glad we have him if Godwin prices himself out of Tampa next year.

@gotbbucs Just for clarification can you show us where that was said?

Tyler Johnson wins at the line of scrimmage, seems to get some separation (although I am still access that) and has good hands.
On top of that Arians says he is a good blocker. He seems like an excellent replacement for Godwin next year. Not suggesting 100 percent of the production but if he can get 80 or 85 percent than he will be well worth the 5th round pick.

I like Tyler better at #4 than Scotty

TJ reminds Ben of another reciever Brady use to throw to. His name was Malcolm Mitchell. Injuries cut his career short, but Brady loved him because of his hands and body position. His 70 recieving yards and circus sideline catch were instrumental against Atlanta. Ben sees the same body control and incredible hands.

The kid has a lot of promise.

This is your moment Tyler. Take it & never look back

i am glad aikman reminded everyone in the broadcast on sunday on the huge catch he made in the divisional vs. the saints. i will still say that catch was the most clutch (given difficulty and magnitude) catch the bucs had last season on that 3rd and 11. we dont get that first down, we punt and dont take the lead as we did on that drive when it was still 20-20. changed the entire game and we never looked back!!

As medicated Pete says … You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow … TJ

he looks good, for now. with TB12 approval(of course), trade: angry(with Tom choices)/low class(in national TV)/great player(you can get good value) ME for a pass rusher, and play TJ instead. He got really good hands.

AlabamaBucsFan … With the caveat, Tyler actually caught the ball in the playoffs.
