JTS Getting Better Each Week

August 28th, 2021

Excitement building.

Joe has tried to hogtie himself and not swallow the easy bait.

“It’s preseason,” Joe kept repeating to himself. “The guy is going up against Waffle House managers. Calm down.”

Joe can no longer stay calm. Joe is shaking off the chains of reason and logic. It’s time to let loose.

Joe is officially driving the Joe Tryon-Shoyinka train.

Saturday night in the final tune-up for the regular season, JTS was going against Houston’s starters. He damned near sacked Houston quarterback Tyrod Taylor once and instead, flushed him out of the pocket to make a bad throw. Then later in the second quarter, JTS got a strip-sack.

Four tackles Saturday night in the first quarter!

Each week in these three preseason games, JTS has gotten better and better. Yeah, this came against a worthless Houston team. But at least these guys he faced tonight will be employed in the NFL next week.

Man, you put JTS on the field on passing downs with Jason Pierre-Paul and Bucs sack king Shaq Barrett, this could be friggin’ lethal to opposing quarterbacks.

Yeah, Joe is fully buying the JTS hype now!

    Shoyinka*

  2. BradyBucs Says:

    J-T-S… JTS! JTS! JTS!

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

He is a force already…….I keep looking for the rust.

  4. firethecannons Says:

I would think he stands a chance at DROY but he needs time on the field for that and we already have our pass rushers. We need to rest our guys more often considering a 17 game season and play JTS. Off to a really decent start.

  5. DaBux Says:

Like I said during the draft; if this kid can be effective and spell JPP 40% of the time, it makes all the difference in the world having a healthy, fresh JPP and JTS for the playoffs. Nicely done Jason, nicely done.

  6. Buxszntkt Says:

Like that nickname, JTS, looks good too !

  7. Mike Says:

Man, this kid is going to make a lot of GM’s kick themselves for passing on him.

  8. Bird Says:

    Yup. Get him in rotation.

    Keep guys fresh too

  9. Drunkinybor Says:

He just seems like something special. Our G.M. has to feel like million bucks. How? How? Did 10 let alone 31 teams pass on this guy? I hate to say it but I would like to see him over Shaq in passing situations just to see what he’s capable of. By far he is looking like a elite back up pass rush specialist. What a STEAL!!!

  10. BradyBucs Says:

If he can play well at stopping the run, Shaq and JPP need to be worried about their starting roles.

    HOW QUICKLY WE FORGET…

There was a stretch of games last season where Shaq & JPP did NOTHING.

  11. Colin in Canada Says:

Dude should not have changed his name…

  12. adam from ny Says:

    joe-sho is a nice nickname…

    the kid’s beasting in preseason…

    #JoeSho

  13. Leighroy Says:

Saw him drop in coverage a couple times too, seemed fine. His run stopping was pretty good tonight tho. I wouldn’t be so quick to limit him to pass rushing specialist exclusively!

  14. Buc50 Says:

He never changed his name. He only had one name on his jersey and has now corrected it. I have a feeling that JTS will be a popular name for a long time.

  15. A Real American Says:

Joe Tryon is the 3rd best player after Brady and Blaine!

  16. Joe Says:

    He never changed his name.

If memory serves, he was asked in a Zoom call the night he was drafted (Joe can’t remember the occassion but was on the same Zoom call) what his name was (his draft bio from the NFL and from his agent was “Joe Tryon” but at Washington, the name on his jersey was “Joe Tryon-Shoyinka.” JTS said when asked that night he goes by “Joe Tryon.” And that’s what everyone including the Bucs referenced him by.

Only until about two weeks ago he had a change of heart.

You must have been drinking what I’ve been sipping on! LOL! This stuff is great

  18. FortMyersDave Says:

The kid is going to contribute this year and that is a plus even if he does not play every damn down as from what I have seen he is going to do something along the line to create points for the Bucs and stop the opposition from getting momentum. Ed Edholm gave the Bucs a C or C+ on this pick, I wonder if Edholm makes and publishes NFL picks every week as I suspect you could simply make coin by betting the opposite of him. I checked the NFLpickwatch site and did not see him but quit after looking at the people who hit 55% or higher, the ones who actually break even, I suspect if he is on this list that he is a bottom feeder…..

  19. Bucschamp Says:

He need to slow down a bit. It’s a long brutal season. Unleash him come playoff time

  20. PassingThru Says:

Yeah, I keep calling him Tryon too, based on my lingering memory of how he was listed on all the predraft reports.

I’ll try to remember to append Shoyinka to his name. A man has a right to be called by his true name, like Ali. The only problem is that I might screw it up with an occasional typo.

I agree! Thats the perfect time for Blaine to show what he can really do!
    Playoff time!

  22. Reddington Neck Shores Says:

Just sayin…. $500 on the Bucs going 17-0 currently pays out >25k on the reputable wagering apps we all know. Even $100 would pay out enough for a Super Bowl ticket on the secondary market. It’s not impossible that’s for sure. That’s a lot of big storm beer. Now watch their only loss be to the saints and the curse of jameis killing my dreams continues lol

  23. Noles Says:

Wow… this kid POPS off the screen. Love how Ronde said I’ve run out of ways to describe him. Lol….

  24. Bird Says:

    Adam in new york

The joe – show. I like it
“The joes” from Joebucfan would like it too

Shout out to all the joes while we are talking about joes 😂
Make some “the joes” shirts guys 😂

  25. Wild Bill Says:

JTS was a highlight! Kid got a major motor. And Trask really showed up. Some very strong throws. Kid has great size and arm strength. Looks like a young Brady. Should be number 3 for sure. Maybe number 2 by mid-season.

  26. Cobraboy Says:

This. Kid. Has. “IT.” In. Abundance.

I also really liked Trask’s game, his arm, field awareness, and pocket savvy. He could have a bright future…IF not rushed into the fray too fast.

I can easily see Trask as Brady’s #2 next season. Easily. Their game is eerily similar, even to some of the footwork.

  27. mark2001 Says:

A poor mans Myles Garrett? Definitely should have been a top 10 pick.

  28. Brandon Says:

I can see Shaq, JPP, and JTS all getting about 2/3 of all edge snaps and being extra effective because of it.

  29. mark2001 Says:

JTS in rotation, And the rest of the picks? Trask spending the offseason working on his mechanics and footwork, Hainsey working on a few hundred snaps daily, Darden… needs work, work work, Stuard…bye bye… just not fast enough…Britt…slow but Special Teams…Wilcox.. practice squad.

  30. Buc1987 Says:

    A Real American…you’re not funny.

  31. bigdaddio Says:

Wears #9. Plays like a wrecking ball. His nickname needs to be Waterboy.

  32. mark2001 Says:

    Garrett Lite.

  33. mark2001 Says:

    Myles Lite?

  34. gp Says:

    Mean Joe “T”(S)

Joe said he is driving the train. Watch out now. LFG!!!!
