Jordan Whitehead Close To Returning
August 22nd, 2021Hard-hitting starting Bucs safety Jordan Whitehead has missed most of training camp with an unspecified injury. But his return is nearing.
In his day-after presser, Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians said he thinks Whitehead will be ready to rock and roll for the season-opener against the Cowboys on Sept. 9.
“Jordan is getting really, really close,” Arians said via Zoom. “I would anticipate him to be ready.”
What the Bucs have found out in Whitehead’s absence is that they may be deeper at safety than initially expected. Early in training camp, the Bucs gave Ross Cockrell a test drive and he has been solid if not strong.
Today, Arians lauded the play of Chris Cooper, a backup safety.
It’s been bad luck for Whitehead this summer. He started off on the COVID list, missing the Bucs’ ring ceremony. Then he got hurt with an injury Arians and the Bucs have cloaked it in secrecy.

It’s not cloaked in secrecy it’s covered by HIPPA. What a drama queen you are.

Who backs up Winfield at ss? (Or are fs and ss personnel interchangeable nowadays?)

Beej not a bad question. Cockrell can also play CB and Edwards can make plays in the passing game as well so Im guessing both guys are versatile enough to play the position.

Forgot about whitehead ! That’s gives us a little depth at one position or two at least ! After yesterday we need something !!
Just saw Noah Spence signed with the Bengals ! They feel he can help their depth, hmmm.

And of course we’ve got Mike Edwards, who has a knack for getting his hands around the football, and is more experienced than Cockrell or Cooper.
