Hidden Benefit With Bucs
August 2nd, 2021Bucs Super Bowl-winning Bucco Bruce Arians has stated one reason he came to Tampa Bay was to get his old band of assistants back together.
Arians didn’t feel like trying to turn the bumbling Bucs into winners and coach up the coaches.
So when the Bucs won the Super Bowl, almost as impressive as it was for Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht to retain all 22+1 starters, was keeping the coaching staff virtually intact (only assistant wide receivers coach Antwaan Randle El left to take a wide receivers coach gig with Detroit).
Often Super Bowl staffs are cherry-picked for bigger and better jobs.
Arians said yesterday not to discount that fact.
“It’s huge,” Arians said of nearly retaining his entire staff from last season. “There’s no coach that’s not on the same page [with the Bucs this season].
“The hardest thing is when you have coaches come in here and they try to coach their old way. They don’t coach your way, so you’re coaching them and then they’re coaching the players. And sometimes you have to re-teach. We don’t have any of that, and it’s a blessing.”
There won’t be any mixed messages from new coaches who may deviate, even if involuntarily, from what and how Arians wants guys coached up. So no confusion with players. Everyone is on the same page.
This could be a hidden yet critical piece to a repeat this winter.

We are very fortunate to have Coach Arians. Besides Jason Licht, his old friend, one reason he came to Tampa Bay was that he was able to get his old band of assistants back together.
Jameis made his offense look bad, with all the interceptions.

With all the starters and all the coaches, I wonder “where” the Bucs are mentally?
Are they mid-season form or are they ready to take a step forward?
Hearing how well the defense is communicating leads me to believe the team (at least the defense) is already better mentally.

The Bucs are going to rock the NFL this year in route to a second Lombardi trophy!
On another note, I’m actually looking forward to watching pre-season games this year. We pretty much know who the 1st and 2nd stringers are going to be, so the battles will be farther down the depth chart. It will be interesting to see which late round draftees and UDFA are able to make the team or practice squad.
