Who Has A Better Roster?

July 29th, 2021

Max Kellerman discusses.

So would you rather have Tom Brady in his 20s with the Belicheats or Tom Brady in his 40s with the Bucs?

It may sound like a ridiculous question, but Molly Qerim of BSPN posed this to Max Kellerman during a recent airing of “First Dump.”

Qerim asked Kellerman what is more impressive, what Brady did in New England or what Brady has done in Tampa, single-handedly almost overnight turning a team that couldn’t find the master bathroom in the dark with the urgent need to go into a possible juggernaut with a loaded roster? At age 43.

Kellerman applauded Qerim’s question, but he had to side with Brady with the Belicheats. Why? Because Kellerman believes Brady didn’t have to carry the Bucs, just show them the way.

“The Bucs roster, just eyeball test, you go, ‘Oh my God, that’s the most loaded roster in the NFL!” Kellerman said. “Both sides of the ball, overall. Like, by a lot. What roster comes close?

“I think that is the best [starting] three receivers ever on one team. Receivers. Not to mention [Brady] still has Gronk as his safety blanket and two other tight ends who are really good. Three receivers, three tight ends who are great, offensive line, you’ve got everything.”

This came up on the next “Ira Kaufman Podcast,” recorded yesterday. Ira ran into a fellow Hall of Fame voter in town researching the Bucs. Joe won’t spill the beans but this journalist talked about the damage the receiver group alone can do with Brady.

Even at 44.

Man, how times have changed in less than two years. Pretty awesome, huh?

  3. Razor Ramone Says:

They gotta come up with a new name for that show.

  4. Mike Says:

Bucs have a 3 headed monster at WR, TE and RB (Gio completes the RB backfield), a beast offensive line, Brady at QB and some pretty good backups in Miller at WR (and potentially Darden) and Vaughn at RB. Just absolutely stacked on offense!

Pete believes that Max is a psychopath (this is not an official diagnosis & Pete is not a doctor).

One man’s opinion… If all goes relatively well, last year will have served as a warmup for greater things to come!!! GO BUCS!!

Minister, the Joe’s are writers; they’re adding color. It’s what they do, and they tend to do it quite well.

Kellerman is a self loathing d-bag and one of the self anointed priests of the order of whack jobs. He does know his boxing though, which is further proof that there is at least some good in everything.

  13. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Yes, Kellerman does know his Boxing, but that sure as hell does not make him an expert on everything, though he thinks he is.

  14. AtlBuc Says:

Before last season Kellerman made the bold prediction that Brady would fall off the cliff. He ended up having to retract those words.

  15. Duane Says:

The context of the question is not clear. To me, Kellerman, who is a jackass, is saying Brady in his 20s is better than Brady in his 40s. He also says this current roster is better than any he has had before. I cannot disagree with any of that. This team did not need a physical talent that could throw ropes all over the place, they needed the greatest decision maker of all time. Yes, its a convoluted way of throwing shade, but the subject matter is a typical hot take from a talking head that realizes that not only did Brady win number 7, but that an 8th is a possibility.

While Brady in his 20’s may be better, and while this team may have more talent than any he has been on, the achievement of last year is most amazing, as Brady had very little time to learn the system, get in sync with the team, figure out the coaches, also, no training camp, no preseason, etc. Doing all this with a new team on the fly is harder than anything he has done in the past.

    BACK 2 BOAT !!!

  18. Pickgrin Says:

Evans, Godwin and AB is easily the best 1,2,3 group of receivers ever assembled on one NFL team. Add Scotty Miller, Tyler Johnson and now Jaelon Darden to that WR room…. just crazy how much talent the Bucs have at WR….

Then there’s the TE group – which may also vie for the best ever collection of TE talent on one NFL team – if OJ Howard can finally have the “breakout” season Bucs fans have been waiting 4 years to see…

Oh – and now a top 3 receiving RB has been added and will see PLENTY of snaps this year – perhaps more than most expect….

Evans, Godwin, Gronk, AB, Gio, Howard, Miller, Brate, Darden, Johnson

Thats 3 sure fire HOFers and Godwin also playing at that level. What an EMBARRASSMENT of receiving riches for old man Brady to choose from – the likes of which will never been seen again on one team.

    Exciting times Bucs fans!!!

Uhhhhh…Totally lost. This dumbass said Bucs couldn’t repeat on FT I watched yesterday. I’ll take the Brady hate all day from this idiot because that gives us that much more of a chance to go back to back.
