Hall Of Fame Bucco Bruce Arians?
July 22nd, 2021Yes, we all marvel at the ageless Tom Brady. We enjoy watching Todd Bowles’ defense eat running backs for Sunday brunch.
But are we overlooking the big guy?
Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians likes to deflect credit and mock how he doesn’t do much as Tampa Bay head coach.
Joe thinks that’s more Arians trying to prop up Bowles or offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich to help them land a head coaching job than reality.
When a certain football numbers guy hears Arians wave off credit or praise for the Bucs offense, he simply isn’t buying it. Warren Sharp, a noted handicapper and fantasy football guy, wrote in his Warren Sharp 2021 Football Preview that Arians is one of the best offensive coaches in the NFL.
In his last five years as a head coach, Bruce Arians has led a top-three scoring offense three times with three different quarterbacks (Tom Brady, Jameis Winston and Carson Palmer). Though he obviously benefits from a roster with elite talent, Arians is no small part of Tampa’s success.
If somehow the Bucs are able to repeat as Super Bowl champs, Joe thinks Arians will lock up being seriously considered for the Pro Football Hall of Fame someday. Usually, two Super Bowl wins is the benchmark for a head coach to get in the Hall.
How important has Arians been to the Bucs? Well, he immediately began working on running off loafers before he ever walked the sidelines.
And Joe will lay cash Arians knows exactly why the Bucs didn’t run many play-action passes last year.

That final part is my biggest question

Didn’t BA win the coach of the year twice?

Who won coach of the year last year?

I am a very big believer that it all comes from the top in all businesses. No matter if one is talking about the D with Bowles or the O with Lefty. First, BA hired them. Second, its BA’s philosophy. It all flows down hill.
At minimum, either Licht or BA should have had more recognition last year. But in fairness, I know the Bucs success came late in the season.

Wow, they barely have BA in the top ten of possible coaches of the year for the upcoming season

He’s won coach of the year twice. For two different teams. Once as an interim coach. And he’s won the Super bowl now. And that team is not one of the two teams he won coach of the year for. Pretty impressive resume already.

Coaching is more important in the NFL than any of the other 4 major sports. Arians continues to show he is an excellent coach. Whether that is HOF worthy, I would say no. Yet, if we win again this year…

What would Realist say?

Hahahaha, hahaha, let me catch my breath, ha ha hahahahahahaha. Arians a hall of famer? I know it gets hot in the south in summertime, but seriously, did anyone confuse arians with a Hall of famer before Tom Brady arrived? Coach of the year is a nice little award, but name me the last 5 with looking it up. Nobody cares. By the looks of him, He appears more dedicated to liquor than football. Win or lose we booze, right. He doesn’t belong in the same breath as an Andy Reid, or even a Pete Carroll. I’ve got him middle of the pack, maybe even bottom third. Had Tom Brady not shown up at your doorstep, it would have been another 6-10 or 7-9 underachievement. When did his team ever overachieve. He is a pretty good NFL coordinator, not a Hall of famer. Don’t make Ben laugh curley joe, I just had hernia surgery.

Jimmy Johnson went in with 2, Dungy went in with 1 so if Arians wins another, he certainly deserves HOF.

Jimmy Johnson had a juggernaut in Dallas in large part due to the raft of draft picks they got for Herschel Walker. However Barry Switzer winning there as well took a bit of the shine off of it for Johnson. He was a mediocre coach in Miami. As noted Dungy only won one and that was with Peyton Manning. He did well here but I think the consensus is he underperformed given the defense we had. Arians compares well with both of those guys. He’s won a Super bowl, albeit with Brady. He’s been to the playoffs with other teams and yes, he’s won multiple coach of the year honors. It may be a stretch at this point but not much of one. Particularly if he wins another Super bowl.

He doesn’t have enough seasons in the big chair to make it a layup, and zero chance without a second Lombardi. However, i would argue that what he has done is as impressive as what Dungy did here in terms of a turnaround

Win #2 SB and
a few more make HOF from this team. GO BUCS!
