Ali Marpet weighs in
Ali Marpet held his hand high today trying to make a point to reporters after practice.
The Bucs’ beastly left guard explained that playing guard for him is about “chasing perfection” because one or two mistakes a game knocks you out of the elite realm of offensive linemen.
The challenge is beloved by Marpet, who at 28 years old enters his seventh season for Tampa Bay.
During the offseason, Marpet talked to an athletics department media show at Hobart College and dove into how much he loves the challenge of the game and keeping his body a finely tuned machine. Marpet even explained that he’s more focused in some ways since he locked up his big second contract because money is no thought any longer.
As for today’s practice, the first of the season in pads, Marpet took a moment afterwards to appreciate how great the Bucs’ defensive competition is and how it felt like a great improvement day for the whole roster.
Damn, the Bucs are fortunate to have Marpet and his draft-class buddy Donovan Smith anchoring the left side of the offensive line. Two top-10 guys at their position — in their primes.
Joe wonders if Tom Brady looks at the Bucs’ O-line and fantasizes about playing three more seasons instead of two.

Jason licht has been a stud at drafting olineman. Wasnt their fault previous ocs drew up plays that made them block longer than needed for 30 minutes of play.

Marpet is now in his prime, same with Smith, and Jensen. Wirfs is a freak, and he has two good guards in Cappa, and Stinnie. We just added Hansey, and Hutchison. This group was the best through the playoffs, now I’d like to see them dominate right out of the gate. No reason they shouldn’t with Brady pulling the strings. Our O line should be the best in the NFL this year.
