Batman And Robin Of The Bucs

July 4th, 2021

“Holy linebackers, Batman!”

Yes, the Bucs have a Dynamic Duo of their own.

They’re a pair that stands for all that is good, and fight the career villains and evildoers of opposing offenses. And they don’t need special gadgets or superpowers to get the job done.

No, when opposing offenses take the field, the Bat Signal shines. And who jumps out of the Batmobile? That would be Bucs inside linebackers Lavonte David and Devin White.

Bucky Brooks of NFL.com decided to select the best “Batman & Robin duos” of the NFL. Making the list at No. 4 is David and White.

(Before any of Joe’s readers begin typing in outrage and groaning out loud about this subject matter, it’s prudent for Joe to remind readers it is Fourth of July. Training camp opens in less than three weeks. This is not August with worthless preseason games. Nor is it September, October, November, December, January or February with real games. It’s not combine time in February. It’s not free agency in March. It’s not the draft in April. It’s not underwear football season in May and June.)

…White and David sparked the unit’s impressive play with their ability to control the game as sideline-to-sideline playmakers. White is a unicorn at the position. He shows a knack for getting to the quarterback (nine sacks last season) while also displaying solid instincts and awareness in coverage. David is the ultimate sidekick as a speedy run-through player with a nose for the football. The veteran’s experience and expertise combined with White’s explosiveness gives the Bucs a disruptive linebacker corps that is a nightmare to face on Sundays.

Joe has written this before but it bears repeating: Name a better pair of inside linebackers in the NFL. Go ahead. Think about it for a moment.

In Joe’s mind, you will not find better. You just won’t.

David and White are a big reason why teams do not run on the Bucs.

Oh no, an analyst did not list buc players as 1st in their random list. That must mean they are all idiots because the bucs arent first in every list in the offseason smdh

    Joe,

Props to you and your work. I remember you hammering for Lavonte David to be a Buc in 2012. Once you showed me his film, I was instantly in love. He just does everything so well. He is a great tackler, coverage guy, and a blitzer as a rookie. His stats are comparable to Like Keuchly and David, IMO helps White get better every day by setting the example.

Lavonte is a HOF w another ring, so let’s win the next two championships and send Brady out on a three-peat.

Thank you. Glad someone remembers Joe banging the drum for the Bucs to draft Lavonte. 🙂

  8. Mike Says:

I think it should be TB and Gronk with 4 SB

  9. Brandon Says:

Batman and Robin would be David and White, not the other way around.

Once again disrespected. Gotta love it, F them good luck to opposing offenses. The verdict is still out on Bucs secondary.

  11. Buczilla Says:

Oh look, it’s Bucky making a fool out of himself again. Mike and Godwin clearly deserve the number one spot, with David and White being the obvious choice for number two. None of the other players on this list deserve to be mentioned in the same article as the folks mentioned above.

  12. Bucman Says:

I agree with Brandon; White should be David’s sidekick.

  13. John Sinclear Says:

If I recall, the real “Batman” was Richard Wood, also a linebacker?

  14. Bkyrdbob Says:

Somewhere, Gerald McCoy is crying because he wanted to be batman.
