Three Speed Bumps On Road To Repeat
June 2nd, 2021Last week on “Good Morning Football,” seen weekday mornings on NFL Network, the gang debated what would be the pothole that derails the Bucs’ chances in their quest to “Go for Two.”
James Palmer, who covered the Bucs daily in 2020 training camp, thinks there could be three things, even though he believes the Bucs have the best shot in the NFL to go the distance.
“This was the toughest question I was asked all week,” Palmer said. “Because everything lines up for them to be repeat champions of the Super Bowl. We’ve all mentioned the 22 starters. The schedule is extrememly favorable for them with one playoff team in the first six games.
“They could be spending the playoffs in Tampa Bay. It could be an easier road this year compared to a season ago.”
So what are the three areas Palmer cited? Schedule, health and history.
While Palmer raved about how the Tampa Bay schedule is “favorable,” he did mention a stretch that potentially could sink the Bucs’ playoff chances.
“The one spot that they could have trouble with is an eight-game stretch with six teams that made the playoffs last year,” Palmer said.
Palmer also mentioned how fortunate the Bucs were with injuries last season.
“Vita Vea missed a long stretch with the bad ankle,” he said. “That was about it.”
And then there is history. NFL history. In the 55-year history of the Super Bowl, only eight teams have won back-to-back titles.
In fact, that’s only happened once this century, and Joe knows who the quarterback for that team. (Hint: He has seven rings and is still playing in his mid-40s.)

3 speed bumps, but a monster truck of a team.

I’d say really one….injuries….
Crucial players……Brady, D. Smith, Vea, White, Shaq, Davis
Sure, you could argue D. Smith but when is a LT not considered a crucial player.
We have depth at most other positions.

In the ’80’s, the 49ers’ big three stumbling blocks to repeating were said to be Complacency, Commercials, and Cocaine–not necessarily in that order.

Again, another take from people that should know better, I mean this guy followed the team.
The Bucs had their share of injuries to overcome, and they had a deep enough roster to do it.
Again take a bow J Licht for building the best roster in the NFL.
GO WORLD CHAMPION BUCS!!!!! BACK TO BACK BABY!!!! 20-0!!!

Trust me , Brady & BA will NOT allow complacency to be an issue ! The only “bump” in their quest to repeat will be the injury bug . GO BUCS !!!! And Bolts & Rays too !!!!

They have the right leadership and culture to win. They will need some bounces and fortune to stay relatively healthy.

…been posting this for months: The Bucs need a playoff bye this year. The fans are back. Homefield advantage means something. Gotta earn that. TB12 knows this. Win a playoff bye. Peak at the right time. Stay healthy. Advantage, Bucs.

8 teams back to back. 16 of 55 Super Bowls about 30% not really impossible. I like their chances. Go Bucs

That is actually a high percentage, wow what do you know, simple mathematics lol.
When so many tow the line of thinking “Well you just do not see it happening” or “Well it has not happened since 2004” or some other blah blah blah lol
