“The Guy Knows Nothing About Nothing”

June 4th, 2021

Bucs OC Byron Leftwich.

Bucs offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich seems to like working with a green as grass rookie quarterback like Kyle Trask.

The second-round pick is a blank canvas, Leftwich said. And Leftwich seems to enjoy working with Trask to paint the picture of an NFL quarterback.

“The guy knows nothing about nothing,” Leftwich joked. “So it’s great to start from the beginning. Start from the first brick.”

Leftwich confessed there is only so much a coach can ask for or expect in a rookie QB just drafted over a month ago and is in his third week of practices. Still, some traits the Bucs liked about Trask are showing.

“He’s a smart kid that knows what he is doing,” Leftwich said. “He just has to get repetitions. The more repetitions he gets the better he will get with more reps.

“I like where he is at. He does a lot of good stuff right now to be this early. He sees the field well. He is able to command the huddle.”

Bucs quarterback coach Clyde Christensen noted Thursday that Trask was “swimming” with all the information the Bucs are giving him. One day, Christensen said, he left One Buc Palace for the day but saw the light was still on in the quarterbacks room.

There was Trask, Christensen said, taking film notes.

whoooooah Nellie!!! Let’s cool the jets here. Wanna know how I know who BL is? He went to Marshall University in WV where my son also attended. I actually had to google to see what NFL team he played for. In other words, you might want to earn your contractors license before you start with the first brick. Any idea how many high draft picks fizzle before they ever play a full season???? Me either. I taught my son what i knew about deer hunting. No matter what I taught him, HE is the one that pulls the trigger. There was a list of the worst NFL QBs to ever win a SB. I’m sure you all know who was near the top(or bottom) of the list. Trent Dilpher and, of course, Joe Namath. Yes, do your research, JOE NAMATH. He was at best average. And who do we all know and love that won a SB in their 1st season as a starter????????????? Tompa Bay!!!!!

  2. geno711 Says:

Who knows if Trask will be up to the task.

Yet, spending a lot of time in the film room certainly gives him a shot.

  3. Bellingham Bucs Fan Says:

Anonymous: why did you have to Google what team BL played for? Haven’t followed the Bucs long, I’m guessing.

  4. Swampbuc Says:

Anonymous either forgot his meds or took too many.

  5. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

People need to learn some reading and comprehending skills because nowhere in the article did it claim Trask was going to replace Brady. All it talked about was Trask is in a good spot so early on. It seems that when people don’t agree with a particular draft pick they can’t wait to get triggered when they get any kind of praise. Sheesh!

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I know this will be a controversial statement but:

If Byron Leftwich wants a HC job….it would help him greatly to clean up his English.
Also, the guy is constantly stating the obvious in his pressers and really reveals very little…..very uninteresting.
My favorite is “We just want to put our players in a position to succeed.”

Of course, if he is promoted in Tampa….that would be best for him..

  7. PSL Bob Says:

Anonymous, what did you expect BL say? Trask sucks! That would certainly build up Trask’s confidence. Let’s give things a chance to pan out before we start throwing shade.

  8. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

this is why I do not read half the comments on here. Stupid people who feel a need to constantly criticize others, even if they have to make sh!t up. No one said Trask is the second coming of Brady, or even if he will be a starter one day. But thats the world.

TBBF is correct about BL. If BL ever gets a HC gig, he needs to hire a stand in for the presser.

  9. 813bucboi Says:

    nothing wrong with BL’s English….

watch Dan Campbell and get back to me….

    GO BUCS!!!!

  10. alton d green Says:

Bellington you are 100% correct. I’ve been an NFL fan for 60 yrs and a Brady fan for his entire career starting as a freshman at Mi. There has never been an NFL team in my home state. WV the closest was the “Stealers” and the indiginous American Indians. As a kid in the 60’s, we cheered for whoever was the winner haha. At that time it was the Packers. Plus, they had Green in their name haha. So i’m just repeating what sports writers say. If Tom went to play for the Giants, I would be a Giants fan. GOTCHA!!!!!!!!!

  11. alton d green Says:

wanna know how good Brady could have been???? Google “Seamus Livine” He could make the playoffs

    nothing wrong with BL’s English…

According to BL…..”I done good in English class.”

  13. JimmyJack Says:

Byron Leftwitch all year long week in and out was berated by the majority of Bucs fans.

And nobody hardy at all has manned up and given this guy credit for OCing us to a title.

Many of these fans are the ones who know nothing about nothing.

The proof is in the pudding. Yall were so dead wring about Leftwich its actually embarassing.

Whens all said and down Leftwich called one of the greatest plays in the entire history of the NFL tight before halftime…….That play literally was what won us the SB in mine opinion…..and there is no way that play in not on a top ten list of greatest plays ever 70 years from now!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  14. JimmyJack Says:

The constant beatings on Leftwitch was a narritve fans heard on various(most) Bucs podcasts. Bucs fans heard lousy podcasters say Leftwitch was bad and they merely repeated what they were told. As typical, people cannot think for themselfs.

The Leftwich beating were disturbing to me. I wont name names but I avrually heard one nerdy fool say(after a good game) that Leftwich “is finally starting to get it”…….That was the most condesending, trash opion i never heard……..So this moron podcaster actually thinks he knew better then Leftwich? Really? You gonna say he gets it? Like you knew better then him the whole time?………Give me a break. What a joke and what a clown.

And I would like to give Joe and his podcast credit for not buying into this narritive and repeating it like everybody else. I appreciate that the Joe team formulates their own opinions and try to keep open minding. Its why Ive always listened to the Joes podcast and have given up listening to most of the others.

    ***END RANT***

  15. JimmyJack Says:

TBBF dont understand a thing about slag. Quit being a nerd. Listen to some Hank and chill out dude, jeez.

  16. Leighroy Says:

Yeah, it’s a proven fact that the most important thing owners are looking for in their HC is how their grammar is during pressers. 🙄 Give me a break you people. There’s a difference between controversial and moronic. Bellicheat never states the obvious and is the life of the presser huh? The guy is openly hostile to media!

  17. Swampbuc Says:

Now we have people saying BL doesn’t speak the queen’s English and that somehow defines him as deficient for a head coaching opportunity?

    😂🤣

    Queue Warren Sapp.

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    JmmyJack

I like Hank & I like Leftwich……..You will never find a post with me criticizing him as an offensive coordinator.
I was merely stating that his job prospects would improve if he dropped some of the slang (maybe he does in intervews)
He’ll get some slack because it’s football…..but try that with any other executive vocation?….I don’t think so.

  19. Eddie Marz Says:

Anonymous lighten up man. The coach is evaluating his player. Say what you want about Joe Willie but his team won the first Super Bowl from The AFL. In style I might add. GO BUCS!

  20. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Articulation be overrated……..

  21. JimmyJack Says:

TBBF…….Thanks for letting me jab at you a little bit without getting hyper sensitive about it. I respect that.

And yeah you do make a good point about proper grammar……But thats kinda what i like about football is wins will always Trump all of that stuff like manners…….Just take a look at some of the more colorful coaches that have been through the league, wildly entertaining.

At the end of the day you a diehard Bucs fan and you like Hank and that good enough for me.

  22. JimmyJack Says:

When I read that quote about knowing nothing about nothing about nothing I snorted……thank god i didnt have a sip of bloody mary in me.

  23. Swampbuc Says:

Please stop with the grammar crap. Please. That’s a stupid thing to be criticizing. Unless it’s really something else.

  24. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    JimmyJack

I really didn’t have a problem with the “Nothing about Nothing” quote….but if you watch the entire presser, it is full of grammar errors…
And…that’s perfectly OK for a player…..but HC/GM material….that’s a whole different PR world and you are the spokesperson for the team. Maybe it shouldn’t matter….but in the real world, it still does.

Like Hank, Hank Jr……..Like Eagles…..Al Green…..lots of stuff.

  25. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Well stated TBBF.

  26. Godlovesbucs Says:

I think it helps him relate to players. Coaches have to dance such a fine line of being what the owner and gm want but also what the players want and also what the fans want. Ultimately, he was the OC for a sb winner, a former high draft pick and starting qb. He should be a hc someday, good grammar or not.

  27. JimmyJack Says:

Ive listened to Byron Leftwitch in at least 50 press confrences and I arent heard him make a grammer error yet. But I arent the best English guy either…….I also run a successful business that Im training my son on how to build into a empire so I completely disagree that grammer defines success that greatly. So long as you can make rational points in a respectful way with those you deal with.

In some sectors of business, yes you are right. Just not in every walk of life. Like in my business for example……and I would wager sports and music are also the same way.

Its just all relative man. Every environment is different and people everywhere are different. As my mama always told me thats what make the world go round.

  28. 813bucboi Says:

    TBBF

is BL teaching kids to read and write or is he a SB winning player and coach?…lol…he gets paid to win games…not win you over in pressers…

BA doesnt use proper “english” at times as well….dont hear you bashing him…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  29. 813bucboi Says:

    well said jimmyjack

    GO BUCS!!!!

  30. JimmyJack Says:

Speaking of business….Joe when ya gonna throw your loyal readers a bone(like you did once before) and let us run a little ad at a discount for local small business? I got some cool plans in the work that I believe Bucs fans would be intrested in.

  31. JimmyJack Says:

813…..well said? Ha ha ha ha. Im fairly certain it wasnt well said at all which was kinda the point.

  32. crazybucs_CL Says:

wow, this is what a coach is saying for his player, for his draft pick, for his future hopefully QB; out in public, and laughing… wow… this is going to be our future HC??!!! I hope not.
Without interfering professionally with BL, what is the need to say this with full mouth, and laughing….
BL, forgot how he new nothing, and remain a NOTHING QB.
    So sad…… shame of him.

  33. SB Says:

But……………………………….Do you like Pink Floyd TBBF?

  34. SB Says:

I speak three languages: English, Spanish and Construction.

As the owner of the company I won’t turn anyone down with the proper skillset based on their Grammar. Then again I don’t pay anyone to talk to the customer.
    That is my job

  35. 6throundpick Says:

NO JOKE…but that is what Kary Mullis- the inventor of the PCR test who warned that it should not be used as was -said about Fauci…who would not debate Mullis several times. And I brought that up, because that was the last instance of hearing that phrase used. Honestly, football dudes, I am not even thinking past TB12…just saying.

  36. JimmyJack Says:

Crazy its not sad. It is hilarious. And something tells me Trask doesnt mind hearing it at all. Now, if what Byron said offended Trask then Byron made a bad mistake with that quote.

  37. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    SB…….Love Pink Floyd……pretty much anything 70s…..

I’m not saying it isn’t possible to succeed with poor English….but what I am saying that it certainly helps to use proper English….there are those who will count it against you.

And, when BA uses poor English…he is doing it deliberately…..being cool….

  38. SB Says:

I Cuss WAY too much but that is the nature of my business.
Once my mom said ” Surely you don’t hire ex-felons do you?”\
    I said ” Mom if I didn’t I couldn’t run a business!”

How you communicate to people only matters if communication is a part of your job description right?

BL is fine! People need to focus on how good we will be in 13 ‘short weeks’.
Stop looking for BS to biotch about

  39. BucEmUp Says:

Trask should be thanking the gods that he was drafted tonsit and be coached by brady, because it it was leftwich running the show his career would be over before it started.

Leftwich has the easiest OC job in the league because of the coach at qb and the rest of the league knows it, which isnwhy he will never get a hc job.The guy is almost as bad as Biden in his pressers with his mumbling and incoherent responses. He is the reason Jameis imploded and Sean Payton reviving his career with good coaching will only further prove that point.

  40. SlyPirate Says:

The most well spoken coach in Bucs history was John McKay.

“We didn’t tackle well today but we made up for it by not blocking.”

Genius behind the microphone. His football record was 44-88, including 0-16.

You good words. You bad football.

  41. Kentucky Buc Says:

I enjoy Byrons down to earth manner of speaking. I’m sure his players do too. He relates to a lot of people. Btw, Bill O’brien and Josh Mcdaniels both got head coaching jobs so coaching Brady should work in Byrons favor.

  42. Patrianakos Says:

I believe Tom McEwen asked the question:
“How do you feel about the execution of your offensive line?”
    “I’m for it.”
I know I’m late to this thread, I just wanted to get the exact quote on a fading record.
