“He Didn’t Miss A Practice”

May 5th, 2021

Buccaneers quarterback coach Clyde Christensen, the Father Dungy era offensive coordinator, delivered a message many Bucs fans want to hear during a visit to CBS-TV affiliate Channel 10 in Tampa.

“I don’t see any end in sight,” Christensen said when asked about Tom Brady’s future. ”He didn’t miss a practice [last year].”

Joe hadn’t really considered the latter. Yeah, Brady got a couple of veteran days off in training camp and watched the action, but not missing a regular-season practice is very special for a guy 33 years old, let alone 43.

Christensen also re-told the story of Brady calling him before 8 a.m. the morning after the Super Bowl to talk about how good he thinks the Bucs will be next season.

Christensen’s reply to Brady, “Would you relax for a second?” Brady wouldn’t. “He goes, ‘No. I’m just telling you. I think we can be really, really good.”’

  2. Alexander Nascimento Says:

    LFG!!!
    Go Bucs!!!
    Is it September yet?

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

No Brady monikers on this article…..much easier and more pleasant to read.

  4. Casual Observer Says:

Brady is right, of course. Barring injury this could be one scary team. Could set records. A great and fun season in store.

  5. Bruce Blahak Says:

    THE Juggernaut! 28-0 !

  6. Fred mcneil Says:

    Tbfan is right.

  7. Fred mcneil Says:

The passing yards record is only about a thousand yards away, give or take.

  8. Davenport Says:

We all can live without that horrendously long and ridiculous preamble before Brady’s name. So nice to read an article without that tired piece of wasted space.

Come on Joea, enough already, its a new season.

  9. theodore Says:

I just think it’s cool Clyde Christensen went from loathed Bucs OC to beloved QB coach two decades later.

  10. Winny Testaverde Says:

Clyde The Glide…enjoying his 2nd stint with the Bucs more than his first no doubt. Brady proves yet again the drive of an all time great.

  11. Bucsjunkie Says:

I have to agree with the others. I read every article every day, and the Brady monikers are ridiculous. To place it in every article mentioning Brady is too much. It’s not in every article. Not even close. The archives are there for you to verify. –Joe Once a day or once a week ok, like with Peter King. Actually I like the Peter king one since he is a buffoon.

  12. Fred mcneil Says:

Swaggy baker had a really long one also.
Some sportscaster guy has one 3 pages long.
By the time you get to the guy’s name you forget what the article was about.
Sorry about the critique, Joes, we luv ya anyway.

  13. TampaTown Says:

“Would you relax for a second?” Joe could you set that as an automatic response to a couple of posters here? Also- nobody was sleeping in the day after the Super Bowl? I know I was

  14. JWBUCS Says:

There is no doubt that Tom Brady provided an amazing contribution to the Tampa Bay Bucs football team in 2020…. We all now his valuable input went well beyond the Quarterback skills preformed on the field, but the change of Mindset for all team mates and boost in Drive and Team confidence made the difference throughout their 2020 season production.

I hope Brady is just as willing to help develop Trask, and meanwhile I will be pleased to see him remain as the Bucs Quarterback, even if he wishes to perform through 2022.

  15. BucsBra Says:

Irony is there’s no way Joe actually reads them when he reviews an article. Why? Because they are annoying and worthless.

  16. Swampbuc Says:

Injuries are inevitable. Just can’t be to Tom, Devin or Lavonte unless it’s a hangnail.

  17. Bucsjunkie Says:

It’s not in every article. Not even close. The archives are there for you to verify. –Joe
Ok Joe. I do not need to go read the archives, I read all articles everyday and enjoy your site very much. I guess it just “seems” like every article mentioning our great Super Bowl winning QB.

  18. Robert Says:

Tom, THE GOAT, Brady or TGB would be enough moniker for me.

  19. SOEbuc Says:

I love Clyde. He would be my HC if Bowels and Byron left.

The dream: “My name is Tom Brady. If/when i retire playing footbal it willl to become the head coach of the Buccaneers. Me and Jason already got a deal set up.”

  20. SlyPirate Says:

It’ll be interesting to see how players respond after winning Super Bowl #2.

I wonder if they’d have the same motivation to 3peat?

I wonder if TB12 would retire?

  21. Ash Says:

So excited for this upcoming season can’t come soon enough go bucs

  22. Doctor Stroud Says:

I love the Brady-Jones feud. I believe that Jones was called for yet another penalty during the Super Bowl. Jones says that he wants to get under the QB’s skin, but the refs get under his skin.

  23. NOLES Says:

Dude is cut from a different Cloth no doubt…

Used to hate him 😉 NOW I LOVE HIM
    Bc he’s a BUC

No one wants to compete against this guy

  24. Curse of Gruden Says:

I must admit, I wasn’t a fan of Clyde during his first term with the Bucs. I was convinced that I, 75% of the fans, and every defensive coordinator in the league could call his plays as the Bucs’ offensive walked up to the line. It’s great to see him part of the our revival and give us old guys some good memories.

  25. ocala Says:

TB12 is right. If this team stays healthy they could win 15 regular season games over a 17 game schedule.

  26. EA Says:

Brady is all in to get that perfect season, it will be very exciting to watch every game this seasons and beyond.

  27. SB~LV Says:

Please don’t plant the kiss of death on Tommy Boy !

  28. BA4President Says:

    Agreed @Tampabaybucfan

  29. Swampbuc Says:

I personally like the monikers. Easy to skip if you don’t like it.

  30. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    OK…..so let’s have a Brady Moniker Poll……

  31. AtlBuc Says:

  33. I CARE NOW Says:

I just got a bad case of flash backs and my PTSD just kicked in.

This is the Bucs we are talking about people, this next year the Bucs are going to revert and Brady is going to be humiliated…

FOR THE LOVE OF THE FOOTBALL GODS……

STOP PRASING TOM TERRIFIC AND THE BUCS….. They haven’t done SQUAT in 2021-2022

  34. SufferingSince76 Says:

    Swampbuc, you are so right.

I definitely agree Clyde has come along way since the old days. Glad to see he’s a help these days instead of the hindrance he seemed to be back then.

  36. Anonymous Says:

I daily thank the enormous ego of Bill Belichick every day. Players play and I think he forget that. He bought into his voldemort wizardry and thought he was the reason for success. Nope Brady was is and will be the greatest qb to put on a helmet. Can you imagine the ego billy has to just throw brady out and say I can win and do it better with a more mobile qb like Newton. Completely dissing all Brady brought to that team! Just like Tom said I found out you can win a different way..lol…That my friends says it all.

  37. Fred mcneil Says:

I’m watching this prima donna baloney about Aaron Rodgers.
Why is he not as successful as TB?
Aaron is selfish and greedy and me-first attitudes destroy teams. TB isn’t greedy and he isn’t selfish. Thus, 7 rings with more to come for TB and only bitter dregs for AR.

    ———

AMEN to that. Does anyone enjoy reading all that unnecessary drivel other than the author?

  39. Rod Munch Says:

I love how when Joe takes out the monikers out that dopes still complain. It’s pretty entertaining.

Anyways Joe, don’t give into the terrorist mob who think they can intimidate you into writing articles the way they deem to be acceptable. You be you, and annoy the hell out of these cupcakes.

  40. mark2001 Says:

    Gabberts back.

  41. Capt.Tim Says:

    Yup!
    We got the Goat
    Now goat jr. Is back
    Plus the goat tender.

And whatever you guys wanna consider Trask
    ( goat mini me?)

  42. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Seems like Brady will continue his days as a coach when he hangs up his cleats

  43. Rod Munch Says:

Why is Gabbert back, he sucks. Ugh. I’d literally rather have Griffin in there than Gabbert.

  44. All lives matter Says:

    Licht Signed Gabbert

  45. Reddington Neck Shores Says:

So once Brady retires we should go ahead and get Aaron Rogers to finish his career with a ring or two. Rogers would still be less than 41 so a few years in the tank. Tampa can be where the rich and famous go to finish up champs and retire- kinda like it already is for regular rich folks today!

  46. SB~LV Says:

    Alabama
If Brady goes into coaching I might have a chance with Gisel .. TB might have an interest in a front office job but coaching is life consuming , Brady has a passion for football and the game not teaching and cat herding

  47. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I can think of at least 4 reasons why Gabbert is back:

    BA likes him
Brady likes him (a default reason for everyone returning, especially QBs)
    He’s cheap
    He has a ring

  48. August 1976 Buc Says:

Tom Brady, the MONIKER MAGNATE lol lol monikers forever loL. It is good to be the World Champs. GO JBF GO BUCS!!!!

  49. SteveK Says:

This is awesome. Gabbert also has years in BA’s system. I hope Gabbert gets to help Trask learn the O and be hands on, while the Goat gets to be our general and chief commander.

  50. Cainishere Says:

I got news, Brady loves the Bucs and we are mighty lucky that we do it how we do because if we didn’t he wouldn’t be here or have given himself to this franchise. Brady wanted out of New England and courted the Bucs. He chose Tampa Bay to be the team he wanted to devote to. After this past season, I am sure he wished he had of had this talented of a team in all of his seasons of his career. So it doesn’t surprise me that he woke Clyde up to say that he thinks we will be better this season. If anyone knows he does. The Bucs are something truly special and unique, the best team of all time. Find me a team more stacked than the Buccaneers I have yet to see one. Go Bucs!!!

  51. BucEmUp Says:

    TBBF EXACTLY!

  52. Ne+ bucs fan Says:

I agree enough with the monikers,,,the goat deserves respect,, although I do skip em,,, there was a few articles he put them in Red so it was easy to skip over that I could deal with,,,,,no days off!!!

  53. Ne+ bucs fan Says:

Reddington rather have Edelman than Rodgers at qb,,lol I know it was MVP this year but never been a fan,,,1 Superbowl,,reddington,,,1

  54. Ne+ bucs fan Says:

    Agree with Homer

  55. Tbbucs3 Says:

I do not understand how we’re not the clear cut Super Bowl favorites in Vegas.

  56. Rod Munch Says:

Tbbucs3 – Who cares if we’re the favorites or not, Vegas sets odds to get people to spend money. Also it’s incredibly difficult to repeat, just ask the Chiefs. Anywho, if you want to change the odds, go put some serious money on Tampa and the odds will change.

  57. Buc You Says:

Just supposing… Ariens retires after a 2021 Super Bowl win. Lefty becomes head coach and Gabby joins coaching stall ass OC or some other of job. He knows the system and if Trask is the real deal it would form continuity. Just sayng.

  58. frogfromthemud Says:

I think Joe dreams big. One they the Brady moniker will be long enough to be it’s own article.

  59. Bbro Says:

I’d much rather be talking about the teams great potential no matter which players they’re talking of rather than worry about a player being convicted of something. We have a lot to be proud of with the team we have. Thank w 🙏

  60. Owlykat2 Says:

I really hope that Brady will become the Bucs Coach after winning two more Super Bowls and BA retires with plenty of Super Bowl Rings on his fingers.

  61. PoundTheRock Says:

Munch, you are not serious about Gabbert? C’mon man! Gabbert at least is an experienced backup QB that has played 50 games in NFL.

Ryan Griffin has attempted only 4 regular seaon passes in his entire career…let that sink in. With the drafting of Kyle Trask in 2nd rd, Griff will be the odd man out.

You should think a little before you post.

  62. OneBuc55 Says:

An undefeated season and another Super Bowl win has to be the goal…This is unreal that I’m actually saying this about my Bucs…

  63. Steve M.] Says:

    Joe,

Add TB12 and Mr. 7 Rings.
