Antonio Brown = Jerry Rice And/Or Randy Moss

May 6th, 2021

Superstar.

Sometimes, we as Bucs fans forget how lucky we are to be living in this moment, in this time, in this age.

Only months ago, Bucs fans were waking up trying to shake the memory of yet another losing Bucs season. Fast-forward and the Bucs are celebrating a Super Bowl win at home with a roster totally stocked with embarrassing riches.

One of those players is furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing receiver Antonio Brown.

Max Kellerman had plenty of things to say about the loaded Tampa Bay roster last week when the co-host of BSPN’s signature hollering show, “First Dump,” aired in the hours after Brown re-signed with the Bucs.

Kellerman said the Bucs adding Brown (again) is like a genie nodding her head and all of a sudden Jerry Rice or Randy Moss fell from the sky at 32-years old.

“The quality of [Brown’s] prime was just about as good as the quality of any player who ever lived,” Kellerman began. “You could take Jerry Rice and Randy Moss, [Brown’s] numbers fit in comfortably with those kind of players in his prime. And who is not to say he’s not still in his prime?”

Joe believes Kellerman has a point. Brown wasn’t just one of the Bucs’ better receivers in the second half of last season, you could argue his production may have been the best. And Brown’s YAC was on pace for more than he had in his last year in Pittsburgh. His catch percentage was his best since his rookie season.

Remember, Brown arrived in October. With a full offseason and a full training camp and preseason, there is no telling what he may do.

Now let’s say tight end O.J. Howard comes back 100 percent (though Joe doubts it). We can all hope. But let’s say that is the case. Howard and Mike Evans and Chris Godwin and Rob Gronkowski and Cam Brate and Scotty Miller and Brown… most offensive coaches would become dizzy thinking of having that kind of firepower.

Joe doesn’t know what a defensive secondary is supposed to do outside of purposely commit pass interference and pray for a turnover on the next play.

I hope ME is OK with all this after paying his dues and breaking his body for the Bucs … he didn’t get that SB TD… being a team player only goes so far.

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Antonion Brown, our #3 WR…..i simply can’t get over that.

  3. Jaymiss Pick6 Again Says:

Just an amazing roster.! Well done JL.

  4. Casual Observer Says:

AB was incredible with the Bucs. An electric player. I hadn’t realized how good he was until he showed up here. As stated, with getting more in sync with TB and all, he may even show us more. Outstanding addition to an already first class receiving core. So glad Licht was able to re-sign him.

  5. Drsesq Says:

I hope Evans gets another 1,000 yard season. The Bucs need to keep that streak going! HOF!

  6. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

And all Todd Bowles has to do is hold our opponent to under 25 points? That seems more than doable…

  7. Panthers suck! Says:

This is where Lovie Smiths defensive philosophy of waiting for the offense to turn the ball over comes into play.

  8. SB~LV Says:

    Finally the “Yang”
    To Tony Dungy’s
    “ Ying”

  9. Ash Says:

AB building even more chemistry with Tom man so hyped for this up coming season bucs look so good let’s go bucs

  10. mark2001 Says:

This entire team with an full offseason? Wow…👍

  11. DingleBerry Says:

Last year when everyone was still up in arms in protest over the signing of Antonio Brown. I said “If you don’t like that we signed AB, don’t celebrate when e win the Super Bowl!”

Turns out I was right. This year, basically a full year together for the entire team, I have no doubt that we’ll win the Super Bowl again this year, only this year we are going to dominate the regular season as well.

    Let’s go Bucs 20-0!

  12. Youngbucs Says:

And some fans still mad smh bunch of losers.

  13. I CARE NOW Says:

So really what this tells me is that we have a chance to be good.

    Are we currently good??? NOPE

We are 0-0 Just like every other team.

Lets just hope we make the playoffs at this point and time. Nothing wrong with that.

Are we the best ever??? NOPE

Not even close. We have put up 1 yard or 1 score as of today.

And no one wants to embrace POTENTIAL more than me.

But I am a BUCs Fan. I know better than to get excited before a season starts.

I cant wait for toe to hit leather though cause this should be an entertaining year one way or another

  14. Bird Says:

And dont forget Gio Bernard, our receiving (running) back
Bucs did not have that last year
    Rojo has stone hands
Playoff lenny has just ok hands

Watch gio get those third and 3 or third and 5 looks with catches for a first down/ move the chains and therefore , score more points.
Brady did it with james white in new england

Looking at schedule ( thank God we dont play rams/ seahawks division ) and no reason our points per game will not go up

Can we average close to 35 a game this year? I see why not

  15. Bruce Blahak Says:

    28 straight…

  16. Couch Fan Says:

I would not say Buc fans are lucky. We have had to endure many many losing seasons to get here.

    SB-LV:

If you understand Mike Evans, you know he doesn’t lose one second of sleep over AB getting that TD. He’s a SB Champ and everyone on offense loves their teammates. This is probably the best chemistry this team has ever seen on offense.

Where are all the ME diva WRs? Nowhere worth remembering.

No Bucs fan will ever forget Mike Evans or Chris Godwin. IF AB keeps it together, the same could be said for him.

Hmm. Sounds like the Chiefs’ plan. Yum!

I’d say we’re luckier than these teams.

The 12 teams that have never won a Super Bowl are the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Falcons, Los Angeles Chargers, Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

  20. Beeej Says:

“And who is not to say he’s not still in his prime?”

    That was my thinking

  21. Cainishere Says:

Bucs will dominate like no other team. Hard to find a game where the Bucs will be underdogs.

  22. Greg G Says:

I said this earlier, but a lot of discussion has AB considered as our #3 receiver. But based on last year’s trend, and projecting that forward to a full season next year. AB may very well be our #1 receiver (at least in terms of targets, yards, catches, and touchdowns)…and we just resigned him to a $3.1 M contract! Amazing!

“Joe doesn’t know what a defensive secondary is supposed to do outside of purposely commit pass interference and pray for a turnover on the next play.”

This is funny because it’s true!

  23. Winny Testaverde Says:

Glad this worked out…he will be key in a run to repeat…those thinking “take him or leave him” we’re ill advised.

  24. Kentucky Buc Says:

Many said bucs didn’t need AB. Well, Brady didn’t need that new boat either but he got it.

  25. cover deuce Says:

You beat this team by pressuring Tom, keeping the run game contained on 1st down, and forcing them into unfavorable down/distance situations. Really hope they can find some decent tackle depth after roster cut downs and/or someone really shines in camp. Don’t want what happened to KC last yr to happen to us.

  26. Joe Says:

This is where Lovie Smiths defensive philosophy of waiting for the offense to turn the ball over comes into play.

    LOL!!!

  27. Buckaroo Boozie Says:

Let’s all hope ABnormal stays on his TB12 meds!

  28. Capt.Tim Says:

So AB my be our best WR?
    Yeah. Said that.
We easily have 3 WRs, that are top ten in the league!
And AB may be the best of them.
    Its incredible.
    Then you add the TEs!
    Unstoppable!
    With The RBs!
    Legendary
    Add the OLine!
    Mythic!

  29. sauron's eye Says:

We have the best receiver group in the NFL. Second place may be close with the Dixie chicks. But since they usually choke in big games I like our odds.

  30. SlyPirate Says:

The WR we should be talking about is M1k3.

Evans will be going for his record 8th 1,000 yard season in a row to start his career. Evans needs 4 seasons to match Rice’s streak of 11 in a row.

  31. BUCFAN4LIFE Says:

With our Offensive weapons every single DC will go to bed with a headache before they game plan for is . These are definitely GREAT times to be a BUCS fan indeed #

  32. BUCFAN4LIFE Says:

    “Us” . Oops !

  33. Jessie Says:

DingleBerry LMFAO YA’LL AINT WINNING ANOTHER SUPER BOWL EVER!!!!!!

  34. August 1976 Buc Says:

20-0 20-0 20-0 20-0 Yeah that has a certain RING to it lol lol lol GO BUCS!!!!

  35. johnny o Says:

slow down kids! there’s no doubt AB is supremely talented, but remember who we’re talking about. the most telling line from this column has to be, “with a full offseason…….., there’s no telling what he may do.” fingers crossed,GO BUCS1
