Needs Of A Champion
April 2nd, 2021Joe had to laugh at this article. Not that it was absurd or anything. But it actually required some thought.
Dan Parr over at NFL.com decided to list five needs for every team. But when it came to the Bucs, who return all 22 starters from a Super Bowl winner, the first time that has happened since 1979, Joe is guessing Parr had to earn his pay to come up with five for the Bucs. But he did.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Biggest needs: EDGE, OL, RB, WR, QBIn case the Bucs do ever lose one of their top free agents, they might want to be prepared with some younger, cheaper players for the trenches. Tampa Bay has an enviable collection of receivers, but Chris Godwin is playing on the one-year franchise tender. This would also be a fine time to begin grooming a middle-to-late round QB behind the G.O.A.T.
The only quibble Joe would have here is offensive line. The Bucs have young veterans, a couple of them on inexpensive contracts. Unless Parr is thinking the Bucs should draft Ryan Jensen’s potential replacement, as he is in the final year of his contract.
Running back? The Bucs could be really thin at running back after this season. Joe doubts Playoff Lenny will return and Ronald Jones’ contract expires after the season. Will he want to stick around? And with a 17-game schedule, having a competent backup running back is even more important with the added wear-and-tear backs will get from an extra game.
Wide receiver? That’s where Joe thinks Parr was reaching. Unless you think Chris Godwin walks after this season.

Kick returner, punt returner, gunner, QB 2, QB 3 is what he shoulda listed. Haha

C/G Round 2.

at this point i think all we need is a solid backup water boy…
to sure up the position of course…
a 3rd string photographer might be a late round need as well

I certainly don’t care about Brady anymore
He did his job…..brought a championship to Tampa……I’m so over “brady”ness.

Yeah if Etienne is still there, im all for it unless we trade back and still grab him top 5 of the 2nd.

I wouldn’t hate the best available RB here, but pass rushers and pass protectors are always my preference in the absence of an immediate need.

Edge, DT, CB, WR, RB, Oline

Bucsanthem
He’s back. Making another stupid comment.
Remember you nicknamed brady noodle arm yet he led the league in downfield throws. You almost would think you are kidding but i think you are just being you …
And dont forget when you predicted jeff driskel would out-duel brady. 😂
Man stay off the meth please. 😂

In regards to article…its all about trenches. And joe what is wrong with oline joe haeg replacement…swing tackle for running downs with 6 lineman…dont get me wrong …i was glad haeg is gone. But still
And we still dont have a running back that can catch (3rd down back). Why would you not want a chance at a running back that can do it all …especially since both running backs are free agents next year. Seems like rojo is ready to move on for some reason
Now the needs should be defensive end and d tackle. But they have said this is worst dline draft in years so we may be in pickle at 32. But hey..licht said he needs to get the young guys ready to play in 2022 or 2023 😂

Bucs need to draft Edge first. I would include DT, but it is a weak class. Azeez Ojulari, Patrick Jones II, or Jaelen Phillips in that order.

Big Uglies until you have enough solid players.
April 2nd, 2021 at 8:33 am
1. Upgrade at CB 4 & 5
2. Upgrade at Edge/OLB 3&4
3. The strongest QB in the draft to hold Brady upright after next year’s boat parade
4. Possible Next Year RB
5. The one guy who does something stupid before the draft and falls 5 rounds, no matter the position.
Yeah, this team is stacked still.

Let’s not fool ourselves, Brady, Gronk, JPP, Suh, Fournett, Jensen and possibly AB all gone within 2 years tops. Play for the now, this team is heading back to the toilet and that’s ok, go for the rings and rebuild later every great team has to do it eventually.

trenches first 3 rounds imo…DE/OLB, C/G, DT
GO BUCS!!!!!
April 2nd, 2021 at 9:06 am
Totally agree with backup C/G, possibly to replace Jensen if he leaves. Otherwise some young depth would be good. Also, another RB to throw in the mix would be nice
April 2nd, 2021 at 9:08 am
But definitely, DL. EDGE should come first
April 2nd, 2021 at 9:15 am
The thing with Oline is that Licht and Arians are so good at finding them off the street, it’s almost a waste to draft them.

Can’t disagree too much in comments on needs, other than at tackle. Starters are locked up for a while, love em or hate em, so Bucs won’t waste an early pick on a swing tackle or backup. Mid rounds or later tho, maybe.
TE could be a position of need. If both OJ walks and Gronk leaves next year, that leaves us with 2 more expensive years of Cam Brate and nobody else. If you’re looking at 2022 roster holes for draft options this year, don’t ignore that one either, maybe in the 3rd to 5th rounds.
April 2nd, 2021 at 10:39 am
We should sign Gabbert and Griffen because there is only one QB on the roster and he probably wont be participating in OTAs.
OLB3
Center 2
Safety 4
RB 4
A good returner
We also need to have bottom of the roster RBs and Receivers that play special teams instead of guys like Shady McCoy.
April 2nd, 2021 at 11:05 am
Do we expect Gabbert to resign at some point?
April 2nd, 2021 at 12:59 pm
I think you’re missing the point on WR. Who thinks they want to let Godwin walk. I’m wondering this will be Evans last season unless he takes a pay cut. Mike’s been a great player here, but his best days are behind him. Teams are having success turning WR’s into productive players in their first season.

I am tired of this drafting an RB talk. We have a few good ones. What we don’t have is enough depth on the O-Line or future edge rushers. The Chefs drafted an RB last year at 32. Ask them if they regret not getting an O-lineman instead. They won’t admit it, but I bet they do. 31-9 baby! Nine!!!
