Mark Dominik Says Bucs Should Trade Back
April 9th, 2021Former Tampa Bay rock star general manager Mark Dominik has firm advice for his beloved Buccaneers.
Simply stated, Dominik essentially told his SiriusXM NFL Radio audience today that if the Bucs’ front office texted him for his first-round opinion (they wouldn’t), he would advise them to get out of Round 1, if possible.
“I think you could and should consider looking about that possible trade back, and I would do it for 2022 picks and not worry about 2021 as much,” Dominik said of the Bucs’ strategy with the last pick of Round 1.
“Meaning, you know, if I can move back from No. 32 to No. 41 and pick up a [first-round pick] next year, I want to do that. …So I would be looking to move from No. 32 back somewhere between No. 38 and No. 45 and try to get a next-year [first-round] pick. That would be really exciting, or a [second- or third-rounder] in 2022.”
Dominik went on to say he thinks the Bucs would be wise to seek interior defensive line help, but Dominik added he likes versatile edge rusher Joe Tryon out of Washington. (Joe wrote about him in January.) Dominik says Tryon is a late second-round pick on some team boards but could be a solid value as early as No. 32.
Nobody will find Joe arguing loudly against drafting an edge rusher.

If that’s what Dumbonik would do then Licht should definitely keep the pick and augment a skill position. Mr 28-52 talking – losers listen up!

NO!
Rondale Moore…better hurry…4.29 40, squats 600 lbs at 180…KR/PR/RB/WR…just go watch him….and his interviews, smarts all the way around….MR. LICHT?

Immediate impact!

Like Costanza…do the opposite of the Domer and things will likely go well. Plus…trading from 32-41 wouldn’t score a 1st round pick…unless of course The Domer was on the other end of things.

In what fairy tale world is Dominik referring to where you pick up a first round pick AND turn the 32nd pick into something only 6-12 picks later. Was he dropped on his head as a child? Does that explain the reign of error he laid upon us for half a decade?

Tryon my man. No problem with trading down what so ever. Maybe trade down AGAIN in the second. We need NO impact players to step in right now. Rack up picks and let Licht do his thing.

He aint wrong about finding more dline help. Imagine being able to keep suh and jpp fresh with a better rotation

I am for trading down if the right option is available to the Bucs, but Dominick is living in a dream world if he thinks a team will give up a 2022 1st round pick to move up 10 selections at that point in the draft.

No hell, that would humiliate TB.
Trading down the first and filth to get the 2nd and 3rd is much better. The Bucs should go all this year.

It would help with less money needed to sign draft players under cap which is currently …i have seen anywhere from 800,000 to 2 mil.
I trust licht to do right thing
Dominik dont so much care for his opinion

How can anyone say ‘Trade down out of the 1st’ without knowing first who’ll be available at that #32 pick? Trading down MAY be the wisest strategy when it’s time for #32 to pick IF (1) there’s no player on the board that YOU absolutely have to have; and (2) whoever you trade down with makes it worth your while.
Of course, that same thing probably holds for EVERY PICK we have. That’s why these guys get paid the big bucks to play poker at the big boys’ table.

Here’s one for the Realist
The “Pop Star” Mark Dominick thinks we could get a first round pick by trading out of 32 to 41….that shows you how out of touch this idiot is.

Rondale Moore or trade down and get Elijah Moore! Moore or Moore you can t go wrong.
April 10th, 2021 at 7:51 am
I agree about trading back for 2022 picks, a #32 for three in 2022, or some other combo.
At some time, the team will need to re-stock through the draft. Just not in 2021 in a weak draft year.

Ocean Blue-lovin’ ex-GM Mark Dominik just doesn’t get it! He wants to trade between something and nothing to get out of the first round? He’s relegated to appearing on satellite radio, which shows that his reputation is clearing drifting, falling. He’s like a ballerina out of control!
April 10th, 2021 at 9:41 am
Please do the opposite of what Dominik says.
There is a reason he is not a GM anywhere.
April 10th, 2021 at 10:08 am
The worst GM in NFL history is giving advice yona team that just won the Super Bowl…
With all due respect Dominik belongs on TV or radio pretending to know anything about football like most of the talking heads at Walt Disney World.

You forgot to throw him a few… !!!!

I agree with the Rock Star (Mark Dominick) who so much wanted to win, when he was here.
Unless someone really really good is looking like he will fall to us, I say trade back.
If we take that player in the second round, instead of the first, the cost to us will be a lot less.
Something to consider, when you are as broke as we are.
April 10th, 2021 at 2:17 pm
Mark Dominick was fired for a reason. He sucked at the draft, so he is not the guy I want to take advice from. I am not saying he is right or wrong, but he is definitely not the guy I want to seek out for advice on the draft. Given enough chances, you are bound to get something right eventually, but his draft record speaks for itself. If he is a rock star, I would compared more to Yoko Ono

The crockstar ex GM failure should just get JL another cup of coffee.
April 10th, 2021 at 6:09 pm
Mark Dumbasheck will always be remembered as one of the worst GMs in the history of GMs. I doubt he could manage a 7-11.
Joe, couldn’t you just as well pull a bum to the side to get some insight from? No one cares what he has to say.
April 11th, 2021 at 9:46 am
Simple. Wait and see whats available at 32 & what teams are offering. This is not rocket science folks.
April 11th, 2021 at 1:59 pm
So the ex GM says to trade back. Yeah, let’s listen to him.
Now, I’m not completely opposed to trading back, but I want to see who is there at 32 before we do it.
Even if the player we draft at 32 isn’t going to play much this year, he may play more next year or the year after. And the fact that if he’s worth it, we can pick up the 5th year option on him when the time comes, it may be financially beneficial to do so versus having to look at a contract extension after year 4.
April 12th, 2021 at 7:25 pm
Nobody is going to give up a first round pick to move back nine spots. The 32nd pick is essentially a second round pick.
