Antonio Brown Needs Food

April 17th, 2021

Cutting bait or fishing?

So what are we to make from furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing free agent Bucs receiver Antonio Brown’s latest social media plunge?

The last we saw publicly of Brown, outside of his cryptic if not taunting social media posts, was him bro-hugging Bucs teammates as red, pewter and white confetti filled the air over The Licht House field when the Bucs won their second Super Bowl trophy.

Though he hasn’t done much Twittering and posting on Instagram since, Brown has done enough to get Bucs fans’ attention.

There was Brown posting “Sign @AB” on the Bucs’ Instagram page highlighting all the veterans that returned for Tampa Bay. Then there was the video soon after of Brown seemingly taunting the Bucs by working out with receiver-needy Crows quarterback Lamar Jackson.

It was as if Brown was telling Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht, “Better hurry up and sweeten your offer(s).”

Brown, however, is still a free (agent) man looking for work. And he’s back to his cryptic messages that you could interpret to either mean he’s waving goodbye or is capitulating to Licht’s contract offers.

Thursday on Instagram, Brown posted the following:

There’s always a light at the end of the tunnel #callgod #igottaeat

The way Joe looks at it, Brown might want to put ink to paper fairly soon if he really wants to chase another ring with his devout friend, park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller-coaster-scared, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady.

If Licht goes out a week from next Thursday and drafts, say, Ole Miss receiver Elijah Moore, it’s very possible Licht pulls those contract offers off the table.

  1. Bird Says:

    Ahhh

I think its his last move to try and get more money
    No worries

I keep hearing seahwaks but they just gave a receiver a decent contract
Plus they already have a beast
And they can draft another young receiver. One of best classes of receivers this year.

He knows he has life cause of bucs who no one else gave him a shot at returning to NFL. He has cases pending

He will resign …cause bucs have leverage now
I hope he is a buc

  2. Godlovesbucs Says:

I want to wait as long as possible to sign this guy. Only for a 1 year contract for low money. He is 1 offseason incident away from not being available for 8 games. That is really the only downside to him, but it is enough to have 25-30 teams uninterested

  3. Buc-em-up84 Says:

I would love to re-sign AB but I’m also with you GODLOVESBUCS I want to wait as long as possible

  4. Bucanero Says:

I don’t think Licht will pull the offer even if we get Moore ’cause we always want more but AB is not going to get more money that is clear. Although the guy wants to play with Brady, its a stud, played well last season and deserves a raise, it won’t happen because he’s haunted by his past decisions. I hope AB can digest the truth and hopefully he does well with his decision wherever he lands, hopefully in Tampa. One more year of hard work and discipline and he may clean his karma. One more AB…

  5. firethecannons Says:

He was really good for us last season and I hope he gets resigned

  6. SlyPirate Says:

Q: How is one of the best WR IN THE WORLD unsigned?
A: Everyone knows the dude is nuts.

    It ain’t rocket surgery people.

AB puts the AB in ABnormal.

  7. Pa Privateer Says:

    Trust Licht.

Yeah, Brown is good, but only worth a certain price for the headaches.

I believe something is coming down the pike as far as future issues of AB.

  8. Swampbuc Says:

All the players know the score too. And they know the dude, they have all seen glimpses of his alter ego even if only for a second. “Waitin’ on you bro” from Devin White. That’s enough for me.

  9. Swampbuc Says:

Bucs first 8 games without AB

    6-2

Bucs record in the two games AB missed in the playoffs

    2-0

    They were 7-3 with AB

    They were 8-2 without him.

  10. AtlBuc Says:

Sounds like he has signed or is getting ready to sign

  11. Leave the Gun, Take the Cannoli Says:

It’s tough to live like a monk at Brady’s home during last season and expect to not get into a little trouble once you’re back on the street if you’re Antonio Brown. He needs deep immersive structure which Brady gave him to stay focused and on the straight and narrow otherwise he’ll think he’s getting screwed by the Bucs with their current offer. It worked last year, just not sure he’ll be happy with a similar deal and restrictions again this year.

  12. JA Says:

Agree with the amateur psychoanalysis of Peter Clemenza.

  13. Bruce Blahak Says:

He’s that extra piece of pie that a person usually doesn’t need but eats it anyway and feels sick after. Dont eat it. Thanks AB. Add a rookie Bucs!

  14. Ernest Shade Hunter Says:

Why don’t you admit ur jealous of him about something. I wouldn’t give a damn if he partied every night in Ybor. Catch the ball and let’s get another ring. Oh and Trump lost too.

  15. Defense Rules Says:

I still seem to be missing something in the AB discussion. Bucs purportedly have an offer(s) on the table to AB. Apparently AB wants more. Bucs holding fast. Must be missing something here; this is a simple negotiation.

The ball’s in AB’s court it seems. He can either take the offer OR not. Bucs aren’t in a salary CAP position to overspend on 1 receiver when we’ve got an excellent arsenal of weapons already signed. If AB wants to hold out for more money and perhaps miss the boat (draft is right around the corner) then that’s on HIM.

  16. SB~LV Says:

Sit down and shut is the advice his agent has told him, nothing is going to happen until the draft is over, Bucs or anyone else!

  17. THE TRUTH Says:

Most of you, Buc. Fans know nothing about sports. Wow you won’t win a super bowl without AB no parade, no trophy, no rings back to back. Terrible terrible fans.

  18. Ben green Says:

It’s time to poop or get off the pot. If it’s not done by draft night, tell him to screw

  19. Casual Observer Says:

I really like this guy – he had a fine year. But agree that this soap opera has gone on too long. A deadline at draft time (as many here have suggested) seems quite in order.

  20. Irishmist Says:

Browns just released Sheldon Richardson. I’d rather have him.

  21. ClodHopper Says:

If he’s gotta eat I suggest not hanging out with the Saints dline. They ain’t got none.

  22. Eddie Marz Says:

Besides being a great wide receiver AB has put his best foot forward to be a team player. He did contribute to their Champion Season. Hope he comes back, the only way he’ll hurt the team is if he goes off the rails. This team has enough support to keep him on them. GO BUCS!

  23. JudyHyland Says:

    Hope they sign him.

  24. lambchop Says:

Hold on, what in the world is rocket surgery?

I’ve heard of nuclear medicine, but rocket surgery?

I believe the saying is, “It ain’t rocket science.”

  25. Bucsfanman Says:

AB makes the Bucs better, to that there is no question.
However, the Bucs don’t NEED AB. Tyler Johnson, Scooter, and a combo of rookie/vet could make up for his production.
I’ll say it again. There is ZERO question that AB is a great WR. Do we really need him? IMO, no. Are we better with him? IMO, yes.
I hope that clears it up!

  26. Beeej Says:

They’re likely offering something like 1.5 million, which is chicken feed compared to what he used to get. Has to be humbling, and if that guy is ANYthing, humble isn’t it

  27. Dew Says:

Elijah could be the stud return man we need. And an excellent speed receiver.

  28. AKicknTheBucNuts Says:

In the Bucs offer, if he signs, I hope there is a clause that when Dec. rolls around and he is not available because of pending lawsuit, no payments are made after that.

  29. Hope springs eternal Says:

Only if Brady is still willing to be ABs 24/7 shrink. Not sure Tom wants that burden again. Coming back cheap with a bad attitude could be a problem.

  30. Gordon Says:

Antonio has great talent being with Tom Brady and the Bucs in the future because he is liked by every player on the team with great respect. If he does not take the offer from the Bucs he could have a miserable year with another team!

  31. PatsBucsfan4years Says:

The Bucs should have a rocket surgeon do a full nuclear medical scan on Browns ABnormal brain before signing him🤯

  32. Kobe Faker Says:

“Arians and Brown cant stand and hates each other

    2 Narcissists in 1 room

    Arians doesnt want him back”

    Kobe Faker

  33. Mike C Says:

Smh, Wow, trolling is a lot harder after a super bowl win huh Kobe. You need to do better than that bro. Good luck

  34. bojim Says:

I hate it when a pro athlete says they have to put food on the table or they need to feed their family. If y’all don’t have any money for that it’s your own damn fault.

  35. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Good riddance.

  36. David Says:

I understand he’s really dynamic and really good still but I just feel the Bucs are loaded and ready to go.
I really want to see Johnson and Miller get more opportunities, so at this point, I don’t really care if they sign him or not.

  37. daniel Da Man Says:

That light in the tunnel is freight train loaded with fresh college receivers looking for a home

  38. LISTNFRMAFAR Says:

I think he wants 2 years and Licht is offering 1. That maybe the sticking point ya can’t let this guy gain control. Too bad.he is an awesome athlete/receiver. Who with a game time decision knee injury comes back after 1 1/2 games and lights it up in the SB? AB does get er done.

  39. Perimeter Blocker Says:

This team can easily survive without AB. It is AB’s decision…. as it was when he threw furniture off the side of a building. Decisions have consequences. He should thank God there is an offer on the table…. #my2cents

  40. Dave Says:

1.5. Is not chicken feed. 1.5 mill will feed u for awhile. Take it or walk.

  41. SufferingSince76 Says:

Lambchop, he’s combining it ain’t rocket science with it ain’t brain surgery. Like does the pope s*#t in the woods.

  42. Tom lamphier Says:

7 time super bowl winning, quarter back…on 2 different teams, model married, kid having, Tom Brady., Kansas City beating, trek hill stopping, winning again, Bucs quarterbacking, back to back super bowling, takes bad team makes a winning, Tom brady!!!!!!

  43. Art Johnson Says:

U know as soon as he gets his money ur going too get AB not Antonio Brown….AB stands for ass butt.

  44. LISTNFRMAFAR Says:

I guess you have to convert to a religion to get a second chance on this site. He has done absolutely nothing wrong as a Buc and like a Buc. There are so many degenerate personalities in the NFL, he is just one of them. Give the guy a break until he burns the Bucs then bitch.

  45. Free falls Says:

I don’t think he has proven that he won’t go back to his old antics. He should sign and go another year with the bucs to show he can be mature and stay on the straight and narrow path. We don’t know what is going to happen when he goes to court in December for his past bs. He should sign with the bucs and prove to the nfl that he is worthy to be in the nfl. He has the talent no question about that and Brady is keeping a close eye on him. But if he goes to another team he could get into trouble again and his nfl career could be over permanently. It was to short a season for him to prove that he won’t fall back to his old ways again. I think if he stays with the bucs and behaves himself and helps the bucs win another title then he could be one of the top paid receivers in the nfl. Then he can ask for a big pay check and who knows maybe Tampa bay will just have to pay more to keep him for themselves. There is to much at stake to offer him more at this moment.

[Until a Bucs player stands in front of a judge and is convicted by a jury — or a judge — of this charge, this won’t fly on JoeBucsFan.com unless you are willing to pay all of Joe’s legal fees and penalties. Especially when a guy by the handle of “Anonymous” types this. Sorry. — Joe]

  49. BUCFAN4LIFE Says:

Pretty damn sure my Wife & I could “eat” VERY well for more than only one year with whatever the Bucs are offering him . Plus he might not be available during the Playoffs if his pending Court case goes against him and he gets suspended again . That’s the #1 reason other Teams haven’t offered him anything . Too big of a risk ! Like the saying goes “A bird in hand is worth two in a bush”.

  50. RC Says:

I think Tom Brady not tweeting on this subject means it’s up to AB and he’s not going to try to influence negotiations.

  51. BB44 Says:

Tampa should sign AB if they want to win the Super Bowl.

  52. Chesapeake Bucco Says:

Fake Kobe says: ‘Arians and Brown cant stand and hates each other.” Where did that come from? And, oh by the way, when trolling, try to make a statement that makes sense.

  53. 6throundpick Says:

AB is better off getting another ring, than another million. These accolades pay off for the duration…which are not far away for thirty something AB. Just sayin…

  54. Kentucky Buc Says:

Hopefully the 2 sides get it worked out. Some of this is hilarious. Madden and fantasy football makes people think they’re GMs . Your not replacing AB with Scottie and Tyler combined let alone some college receiver. Lol. Clueless. With that said I like Tyler and Scottie both . They’re just not AB.

  55. cmurda Says:

I don’t know why I read every word of the ridiculous over the top, consistent, adjectives in fact for Tom Brady and Peter King. But I do and every single time I feel the need to acknowledge that you won this round again Joe. One of these days I’ll speed by all the fluffy, yet accurate quips to the heart of the matter. You won this round….again.

  56. Steve M.] Says:

    Tom Lamphier, Well said.

  57. Rs Says:

Everyone has at least one skeleton in their closet, just cause AB is one of the greats his r made public.get over it already!

  58. Wes Helms Says:

A shame Tom gave ab a trophy. He is a ghetto bird. That’s all!

  59. Jb kickback Says:

    You are a chump JoeBuck
AB was a major cogg in helping us win the SB yet you trash him at every turn
I’m done with your ignorant blog

  60. Boulder 66 Says:

Let’s not forget who caught a TD in the Super Bowl already pay the man a fair 1 year contract he has to know teams won’t offer him more than a year so make as much as you can every year . There’s no stability there but , he might have given that all up from all the trouble he’s been associated with .

  61. TB12GOAT Says:

The only thing I would like to say is that I heard a little rumor that a very good wr has failed a physical. Now I’m definitely not a rocket surgeon or nothing like that However I don’t see any elite athlete in the league just failing any type of physical. My thoughts are maybe someone would “throw” a physical and “retire”. I am thinking maybe a failed physical and “retirement “ is a very good way to get out of your contract. Maybe a little bit of Tomfoolery happening in this situation and might be a good plan to be continued. 🤞
