Without knowing it, park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing Bucs Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady touched off a firestorm in the sports community.
Earlier this week, Brady appeared on the CBS “Late, Late Show” and admitted the first thing his wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen, said to him after the Bucs won their second Super Bowl in franchise history was, “What more do you have to prove?”
Joe got the shivers learning this.
Brady made it clear when he appeared last spring on “The Howard Stern Show” that Gisele may have divorced him he had not blown off OTAs in his last few years with the Belicheats.
And in an interview she did on the syndicated TV talk show “Ellen,” Gisele said she’s been trying to get her husband to retire from football.
Brady has stated his goal is to play until he is 45. He will be 44 this August.
The “Late, Late Show” comments got the football world unnerved. Joe Montana was polite, saying he would tell Brady to keep playing. Shannon Sharpe had harsh words for Gisele, in a roundabout way saying she should clam up.
Now Colin Cowherd is piling on. The FS1 sports personality took to his TV show to basically tell Brady’s wife to get lost and get off his back. Cowherd painted a picture that Brady is being henpecked.
“Gisele is starting to get under my skin,” Cowherd said. “What is it about women not letting us have fun? … Gisele is going to continue to model. What does she have to prove?”
Cowherd said it is nonsense to not expect Brady to be both a good dad and still carve out time to be a dedicated athlete.
“You can be a great dad and be a professional athlete, you can do both at the same time,” Cowherd said. “By the time [the kids] are 14 they don’t want to hang out with you anyway.”
Instead of chasing football players away, Cowherd said their loved ones should support them as long as someone wants to cut them a check to play football.
“What is this rush to get Brady out of football?” Cowherd asked. “What is the rush to get these guys out of football? Peyton Manning is so bored he’s doing a comedy show on ESPN-plus and another show where he watches film. Can we slow down on this? I don’t understand the rush.”
Neither does Joe.
It’s not like Brady is out there embarrassing himself by poor play, the way Manning did when his career ended. He was so beat up he was a shell of his former self. Almost like watching a sick dog that needed to be put down.

All these takes on what she said and no one knows the context in which she said it. From what I could observe from Brady’s interview and how he characterized what she asked is very different than many of the takes by these national media types who are just needing a headline in the off-season.
Brady is not retiring until he physically can’t play anymore. If that’s 45 or 48 is anyone’s best guess.

I’ll speculate Giselle thinks if Tom retires he will be much more available to the family . However, Tom is driven and will absolutely require a new passion to dive in and immerse himself into ! That’s who he is ! Except he will never be as content with this next passion !
I imagine Giselle is imagining all the downtime relaxing in the Mediterranean with Leonardo and now wants that with Tommy ! But Tommy likely doesn’t want to spend two weeks on a yacht having cocktails and sunbathing.

Brady looks at his hands every morning and says, yup. I still have 8 fingers, 2 thumbs and only 7 rings. Something is missing. I understand his wife’s point though. Tom, you went through DB, AR, and PM to win another Super Bowl. You gave your new team, in a different conference the most TD passes in a season and the longest win streak they have ever had. What else can you prove? You see a question like that makes Tom think. Maybe he starts next season as a lefty lol.

With that said, it’s not like Brady is 67 and refusing to stop working. Hell, he’s 43 years old and gets a nice chunk of time off every year to be with the family.

Yeah I think that was also a sticking point in New England. In fact a lot of people here were kinda like “She jinxed the Patriots”. Fans were split down the middle by holy cow he’s the man! Superbowls and super models, Amendola and Edelman were also dating her friends. To many, it felt like a distraction. Then her comments. Firestorm! He can’t throw AND catch the ball comment after the loss to the Giants second Superbowl win, He’s had concussions, He’s not spending quality time with his kids. Yeah we feel your pain.

Just want to weigh in on this. We have been dealing with this same story in NE for years. We miss him and you all are blessed now with him. She was on his case the same way up here, he doesnt care hes going to keep playing to do what every dude does and thats go to work to get away from the nagging at home. I don’t blame her at all for worrying about her husband. We as fans don’t have to live with Brady she do . If I’m Brady would retire he has nothing else to prove. Now as for me I still don’t think he’s greatest football player of all times . I’ve seen better if their is a such thing as goats in team sports it will be LT because he actually challenged the way teams draft . He changed a part of the game . Brady hasn’t changed nothing about even playing quarterback. You can’t just live in the moment at some point they have to develop their own quarterback.

A few years ago I was up in Boothbay Maine on vacation. I was in a little shop full of souvineer T shirts and I noticed a tall muscular black guy who I recognized was a former all pro linebacker for the Vikings. We shook hands and chatted about football and while we spoke I noticed his wife was keeping her eye on us from a distance. Being from Wisconsin originally I was a hard core Packer fan back when he was playing but I told him how much I admired his skills. While we chatted he mentioned he was headed down to Boston for tests and participating in the NFL head injury study. He was a super nice guy we enjoyed a long chat about the good old days and our team rivalries twice a season. He was wearing his Super Bowl ring which he proudly showed me and then he introduced me to his wife. Before leaving we agreed to keep in touch via Facebook. A couple years later when I sent him a message his wife replied. She said she was sorry to tell me he had lost almost all of his memory and wasn’t sure how long he had left. This really brought home to me the reality of the head injury problem for many pro players. So yah I can understand where Tom’s wife is coming from.
