Did the NFL learn a lesson from the Buccaneers’ Super Bowl victory last month?
It seems like their ultimate “W” led established quarterbacks around the league to want more power, and some teams became eager to flip starting QBs to catch a Tom Brady-like spark.
Former Bucco Bruce Arians star QB Carson Palmer made a visit to KMVP-FM in Arizona recently and was asked for his takeaway from the Bucs’ win.
“A great defense can still win the championship,” Palmer said quickly. He wasn’t knocking Brady or the Bucs, just emphasizing that holding the Chiefs to nine points was astounding and historic. And Palmer noted the speed of the Bucs linebackers is obviously devastating to offenses.
Interestingly, Palmer said he understands QBs wanting more power within organizations, seemingly like Brady has.
Palmer never liked the attitude of teams that don’t want to involve players and coaches in personnel decisions, he said, noting the team concept should extend in all directions.
“You don’t have to shutup and play,” Palmer said.
Under Arians and Cardinals general manager Steve Keim, Palmer said he routinely was consulted on nearly all signings, getting mined for his opinion on players and their reputations
“I always felt like I was a part of it. I always felt like my suggestions were welcomed and heard,” Palmer said.
All that chatter got Joe thinking about how Tom Brady likely knew exactly how much legitimate input he would have in Tampa versus New England. That doesn’t mean he calls the shots, just that he’s given a true voice, one that should be given more weight as his Bucs tenure moves on.

Yup, CG we love you dude. But we must keep the defense. The old adage of getting rid of players one year too soon rather than one year too late doesn’t apply to LVD. He and White are deadly together, and are now in sync. Don’t mess with that by forcing DW to create a new partnership with an LVD replacement. I’m sure LVD has at least 1 if not 2 very good years left, and after 2 I’m sure TB12 goes, so LVD losing pace at that point , while Blaine is QB doesn’t really matter. (The Blaine part is just a joke).

the SB = TB12, defense played good few games including the last one. Is the same group that sucked last season, and most of this season….NO guaranty what so ever that is going to be special 2021….. you keep building, keep changing, keep tweaking… as long as TB12 is in locker room. Palmer…. doesn’t cost nothing to admit the greatness of TB12, he is the reason we won the SB, and you know it.

Sure, our defense was spectacular…..probably could have won with a sub-par offense but it was also great…
Keeping this defense together is priority one.
Keep in mind on a possible franchise tag for Shaq……he gets a 20 per cent increase over last year….might as well sign him to a multi-year deal…..my prediction is 4 years…75 million……45 or 50 guaranteed.

Sign Shaq, LVD and Suh. RB in FA. Also keep Succop, Gronk and AB. Need to think DT, Edge, OT or LB in the first 3 rounds for eventual Suh, JPP, D Smith and LVD replacements. Which they go with depends on the Bucs outlook for keeping Donovan Smith and LVD more thsn 1-2 years more. Another RB or IOL in 4th and 5th. WR and CB in the 7th.
If you trade OJ or Brate, pick a WR with that pick and pick a TE instead of a WR in the 7th.

Brady don’t play defense and they didn’t need for Brady to pump them up to play . They are grown men who have families to take care of . It was their second year in the 34 defense. Brady threw 3 interceptions and the defense held . He almost threw the game away. Last year we lose that game but the defense step up . Brady is not exempt from criticism.

The defense was great — but the offense scoring more than 30 in each playoff game certainly did its part. The defense, during the regular season, was nothing special, but boy did they turn it up when it mattered.

I really think we need to keep godwin, he is only 25 years old, does all the dirty work and is going to keep getting better. Sometimes brady has a difficult time trusting receivers especially new ones so when you have a young super talented receiver whom brady trusts implicitly you do not let him leave. I love lavonte and shaq but how much longer will lavonte retain his elite speed? Shaq is going to shoot for the moon with an aaron donald type contract, it sucks I would love to keep them all but it’s not possible.

O’NeilBuc .. you either aren’t serious or your lack of knowledge is amazing. You say they didn’t need Bradys input because they are grown men with families to feed ? What planet are you from ? Rofo, Godwin, David, Fournette , Evans, pretty much the entire teamhas said his leadership was invaluable. Of course it’s ok to criticize TB12. He’d say the same thing. Honestly thought, not a whole lot to critique. I’ve been watching pro football since 1970. He’s the smartest man to ever play that position. And Carson Palmers got Shannon Sharpe disease . Has a problem hearing over and over there is someone out there that is so much better that it’s a joke to even compare. There may have been others that might have been as good but then they would have to actually work harder than is expected and not stop to rest on their laurels. A lot to ask of most people , even men with families to feed.

Onelibuc Brady put the defense in position to take over the game and the defense responded. Don’t forget the offense had 31 points at the end of the 3 rd quarter. That enabled the defense to do its thing. Coach Bowls said,” it’s easier to play defense when you have a lead”. GO BUCS!

Tom The Great is the reason everyone played their best. Lenny said as much about the pregame pep talk given by Tom. Chris Godwin said as much when he said that Tom gave them the confidence to go from “Can we win?” to “We will win”.
Don’t forget that the Chief’s receivers dropped 2 sure touchdown passes and their “87” dropped a sure 3rd down conversion while wide open. Those things can sap a team’s confidence.

The D played great but let’s not forget the two drops in the end zone that hit receivers in helmets. Offense scored 31 points and had their own drop by Haeg. 31 points usually win any NFL game as long as Def has a pulse. This SB was won by all 3 phases, yes even special teams stepped up.

Its both people. But Shaq is special. Having JPP, Suh and VV allows Shaq to do his thing. Our offense scoring 30 pts allows our defense to attack. Put Lawrence Taylor on a bad front line and he would struggle; same with Shaq. Replace Brady with JW? hahahaha. Get it now all you Shaq haters?

Look without a good defense it doesn’t matter who the quarterback is you are not going to win . A offense cannot put a defense in a good situation . Defense puts offenses in good situations . What happened in the championship game Brady threw 3 picks and the defense stepped up. The first game against the Packers the defense dominated the Packers offense. Brady had a 166 yards passing. You can win a championship with a good running game and a good defense and with a average quarterback . That’s a proven fact look at Rogers, Brees, Rivers, big Ben , who haven’t won in a long time because they don’t run the ball anymore. Rogers has 1 ring . Brees has 1 ring . Big Ben has 2 but look at those running games he had . That’s why I will always say that every quarterback needs a running game regardless how good they are and every team needs a good defense to win a championship. Go back and look at all those Patriots superbowls and look where those defenses were ranked in scoring. Wich means how many points they gave up. Go see how many times did a team put 30 points on them . And you will see why I don’t believe in goats in team sports anymore . And if it is possible Brady ain’t it.

The Defense definitely played lights out and deserves a great deal of the credit for winning the SB.
Seeing as the goal now is to repeat, obviously keeping all the pieces from last year is #1 priority.
Squabbling over “who” deserves More of the Cedit only diminishes what the Bucs accomplished.

Oneil, when Indy beat Bears in SB, how was Indy’s defense? Was it KC’s Defense that won in 2019? How was the running game for Pat’s when they beat Atl in SB? How was the running game when Pats beat Seattle in SB? How was the running game when Pats beat St. Louis in first SB? How was the running game when Denver beat Carolina in SB? The Rams game both games was dominated by defenses .and remember Sonny Mitchell ran them to the superbowl . Blunt had 19 rushing touchdowns that season. And who close out the Cheifs superbowl the running back . And who held the 49ers to 20 points the defense . I’ll say it again, who was the MVP in SB 2018? Edleman ( a wr if.you didn’t know) not Sony Michel. It was Gronks reception that set up the 3 yard TD for Sony. In Seattle SB def almost lost game. They gave up TD with 6 seconds left in 1/2 and let them get down to 1 yard line at the end of game. If they gave ball to Lynch def would of lost the game. Brady brought them back in second 1/2. I am glad you have enjoyed the losing Bucs for years but now Brady is a Buc and you have something to cheer about.
