What Exactly Is “Getting Close?”
February 1st, 2021Joe doesn’t expect a coach to offer up specifics on player injuries, especially in Super Bowl Week.
So Joe isn’t sure what to make, if anything, of Bucco Bruce Arians declaring furniture-throwing, bicycle-tossing wide receiver Antonio Brown and rookie safety Antoine Winfield are “getting close” to playing in the Super Bowl, per NFL.com this morning.
Both players missed the NFC Championship game. Brown hurt his knee against New Orleans in the playoffs and Winfield hurt his ankle in practice leading up to the NFC Championship game.
Of course, the Bucs need all hands on deck against the powerful Chiefs.
Jordan Whitehead, who forced two fumbles against the Packers, seems to be a bit more of a mystery, per Arians.
Man, if somehow the Bucs get all three of those guys back, Joe thinks the Bucs have a helluva chance against the defending Super Bowl champions.

Does this mean David is ok? I love it, prepare for Tyler & Scotty but get Brown. Even better get a piece of all 3. If Brown can go chances are he won’t be doing many burst patterns, that is unless BA is playing possum and Brown & Brady are secretly running practices on Clearwater beach.

Listnfrmafar – Lavonte is going to play. BA said someone would have to shoot David for him to be unavailable for this game. The hamstring injury is viewed as minor even with him listed as “questionable” Friday.

Never rule out gamesmanship during super bowl week. At least I hope it’s gamesmanship…

Getting close is better than…..fingers crossed……or the dreaded….it’s gonna be a gametime decision.

I wouldn’t expect Arians to say anything different on a Monday before any game, much less the SB. It’s the Wednesday report that is key.
Same for the Chefs…
Arians and Reid are masters of Liar’s Poker…

Agree with Joe. If all 3 are back, we are in terrific shape to bring it home!

Winfield is gonna play. There was tape of him warming up for the Green Bay game and he just couldn’t cut on that ankle. I’m sure after 2 weeks, it’s a whole lot better.
