Tom Brady To Have Knee Surgery

February 11th, 2021

“Clean up.”

Joe sure didn’t see this coming.

It seems park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking Bucs Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady played this year with a knee issue. Per NBC Sports Edge, it doesn’t appear to be anything major.

Bucs head coach Bruce Arians described the surgery as a “clean up.” There’s no indication Brady will miss parts of the team’s offseason program, though knee surgery for a 43-year-old quarterback should raise an eyebrow or two. Brady has said he fully intends to defend the Bucs Super Bowl title in 2021.

Apparently Brady played on the bum knee this season. Specifics or a timeline was not shared.

So the guy played the season on a bum knee and never once limped (that Joe could tell) and it certainly didn’t affect his throwing. At age 43.

This dude Brady is not human.

I’m 42, and my knees creek like an old barn door. I can’t imagine what his are like.

  2. pick6 Says:

well if that was Tom with a wonky knee, look out NFL

  3. Cainishere Says:

Brady has been a durable player most of his career which is rare for a QB in such a high contact sport especially for how long he has played. Some may even say he has been lucky up to this point. With that in mind it is crucial that the Buccaneers pick up more line help in the draft. We cannot afford for him to get hurt and have no reliable back up. I know some of you will point at Gabbert but trust me, we need a young QB to begin the process of learning from the great one before he retires and becomes the new head coach. You watch I am right.

  4. TheBradyBunch Says:

Please put the juvenile preamble to Brady’s name in red so we can all ignore it like we do with the Peter King garbage descriptor. I get that you amuse yourself but please do all of us above the age of 12 a favor so we don’t have to figure out where that nonsense stops every time.

  5. Paul Bo Says:

Yeah I saw that knee brace yesterday.
Didnt want to rain on the parade.

Man, so many Bucs fans are peeved at Joe for one reason or another after the Bucs win a Super Bowl no less!

Joe has zero desire or reason to change his brand. There is a reason why Joe had three million pageviews in January and the other two locally-based Bucs outlets (who use AP style) are panhandling for money, and have been for the better part of the year.

Joe has no desire to change his business model from successful to failure — unless someone pays Joe to be a failure. That price tag is well north of $1 million.

If you have that kind of capital available, e-mail Joe and we will talk.

  12. Bird Says:

Agree. Wonder why he was wearing a knee brace to a boat parade

  13. Cometowin2 Says:

I like one of the best right tackles in the draft for our first pick. We would need to hang on to Shaq and JPP and then we could save some money by letting Donovan go and move Tristan to left tackle. I know Smith played much better late in the season and playoffs but we can’t keep everyone and by the time we draft, it’s unlikely to get a impact player on the Edge.

  14. Youngbucs Says:

Tried tell nut huggers before all nfl players play hurt!!!! A lot of times we’ll never here about the surgeries unless a player says something later. Brady don’t need excuses like some others.

  15. julian james Says:

Joe, if you stopped using those preambles your business would remain intact. People The long monikers might be amusing to first-time readers but for people who regularly check the site for it’s just tiresome. I’m guessing you do it to “differentiate” your blog or give it “character” but there are other, more creative ways to make your writing stand out.

  16. Cainishere Says:

Wirfs was a great pick up and it would be super nice to get another Lineman of his caliber. We would have to give away some draft picks to do that however without losing any players we currently have.

  17. DaBux Says:

He has to get all the silver cleaned out from rubbing off into his system from the 7 Lombardi’s. Apparently it accumulates in your knees.

  18. Kansas95Buc Says:

Joe, you gotta add “Lombardi trophy tossing” to the nicknames. And I for one love the nicknames

  19. 68%fraud Says:

I’m so sick of that name you have for Brady. Peter King makes total sense because he’s an a** hat, all the other ones make sense. But Brady changed this franchise over night, seems lame to disrespect him like that. Especially after the rapist got the moniker America’s qb (which I understood why you did that, he was a phenom coming out of college). But alas I’ve been coming here for a decade and know for a fact my comment will fuel your fire to keep the name going. And I’m going to keep coming back because it’s better than PR and BN and reddit. Am I allowed to use the middle finger emoji on here?

  20. Cainishere Says:

Hey Kansas95Buc. I like your additional name added to the already long moniker Joe uses to describe ol’ Brady It just sounds like something Joe would say. On a side note, I am sure you must be hearing plenty of trash about the Bucs in Kansas. The comment I find most amusing is the one where the Chief’s fan says If we played it again the Bucs would lose. LOL Too bad they can’t replay em over eh boys? Guess they will just have to watch a replay and wish for a different outcome. No way Kansas City goes to a Super Bowl next season cuz the game plan is out now and every defensive coordinator out there is studying what the Bucs did to em. GOOOO BUCS!!!!!!!

  21. 6throundpick Says:

Like getting all of your O2 sensors changed after a tuneup; wear maintenance that restores the ride. This muthaf***er is making a few more runs; loves having an Oline, many people to throw/hand to, and a coach that teams with the team. Nothing but a thing. Cheers!

  22. Casual Observer Says:

It was a boat injury. Not too bad.

  23. Brandon Says:

I’m 47 and I feel and look like I could still play… and I probably could too… for about one series. Then I’d come off the field and when it was time to come back on my body wouldn’t work. I quit playing full contact competitively right before 40 for good reason… then again… I wasn’t a QB.

  24. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Everytime I saw Brady throwing the ball outside of a game and wearing his jersey this year, he had the knee wrapped. I’m gonna guess it was same knee that he tore the ACL in years ago in New England and missed an entire year.
He probably has a little instability in it and this “clean up” will make him better than ever next year.

  25. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Cain

You realize KC is in Missouri, right?

  26. mark2001 Says:

I’d guess it happened in the Packer game. When you think about it, those Ints. he had later in that game were uncharacteristic once he got on the same page with the receivers earlier in the season.

  27. buxsxntkt Says:

That’s amazing, one wonders could he have had knee pain that accounted for some of his throws that were just a bit high or “off”. Maybe it was just a bit off but certainly pain could have accounted for not planting or pushing off the way he is used to.

  28. Joe Says:

    Jmark:

Kansas City is mostly in Missouri and about a third is in Kansas. Joe has driven down State Road in Kansas City. One side is Missouri and the other side Kansas.

Arrowhead Stadium is actually in a Missouri suburb of Independence.

  29. All lives matter Says:

sounds like they’re scoping his knee for meniscus particles and tears

  30. mark2001 Says:

    Joe…don’t change your business model.

And no, I don’t blame you for thinking Jameis was the answer. After all, you likely grew up a Bears fan in Chicagoland. And Bears fans typically know great running backs, as they have had a number of them, but are unfamiliar with great QB’s. I know we are both too young to have seen Sid Luckman play. LOL.

  31. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Flew to Kansas City for a Wilco show about 13 years ago. Landed in a terrible thunderstorm which was the leading edge of a cold front. Maybe the worst landing I ever had.
I can’t say I was impressed with Kansas City, Missouri or Kansas City, Kansas.`

  32. mark2001 Says:

Maybe we should ask Ira if he remembers how good Sid Luckman really played? After all, he probably would remember those QB’s that played in the 1940’s. (:

    …………………

    THIS!!!!

Don’t change your brand Joe. Just put those ‘descriptions’ in red please so that us EVERY DAY readers know what to skip over so we can read on.
I get your model. Funny to the casual reader prolly. However why not just do the same as you do for Peter King.
I know Exactly where to start reading again when you talk about him.

    Well I’ll be….

  36. David Says:

“Cleaning out” the knee it’s a very simple surgery. It usually means just cleaning out a little cartilage that may be inflamed and causing a little discomfort. The average person recovers in 6 to 8 weeks.

This should not be a big deal at all.

  37. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I sure hope it is nothing serious!

  38. Steven007 Says:

Brady has been a durable player because he takes care of himself and largely because he knows how to take a sack. As in he doesn’t go out of his way to sack himself like others recently have done repeatedly. As for the monikers, I agree with most above in that it’s tired and juvenile and overdone. It has nothing to do with changing your business model, we understand that you’re irreverence is part of the shtick. But yes, at least do us regulars a favor and highlight it so we can get to the meat of the article. That’s all. Easy peasy. Thanking you in advance 😉

the difference between brady at this stage of his career, with his knees and his playmaking abilities, and who knows how long he’s going to go for, and that of willy joe namath, in the twilight of his career after he got waved by the jets and g signed by the rams, should be a testament of brady’s conditioning, his relentless pursuit of being fit, and training, i know i’m going way back, with namath, but it shows what can be achieved by doing the right things, your whole career, and being a party animal, do us a favor tom, lighten up on the avocado tequila brother
