Playing At Home Is Good
February 4th, 2021Routine is good.
Most football coaches are wired differently than most human beings. They are the most paranoid people on earth and blow everything out of proportion.
Hell, if a player decided to eat fried chicken one night instead of roasted chicken, a football coach might go mental.
Take former Bucs commander Greg Schiano. His pasta and room-temperature mandates were legendary. Anything and everything can be perceived by football coaches as a distraction.
So when it comes to routine, playing Super Bowl LV at home is a blessing for Bucco Bruce Arians.
“It is really, really amazing to just be in our facility and our locker room, on the practice field same drive to work every single day,” Arians said. “Being able to stay in that routine is critical.”
Arians said practicing during Super Bowl Week is normally chaotic.
“You are jumping on a plane,” Arians said. “You are at another team’s facility or a college facility and you are getting accustomed to that the first few days — different meeting rooms.
“That’s been huge for us.”
In a normal year, this may have been a huge advantage for the Bucs. But before anyone listening to Arians’ media session thought that, Arians said it’s also an advantage for the Chiefs not to fly in until Saturday. They are working out of their own facility and sleeping in their own beds, too.
The game is just like any road game for Kansas City, only with tons more hype.

I, and the NFL, sure hope this game meets and even exceeds expectations!

I’m sure it won’t happen but I think Licht deserves executive of the year and Arians deserves coach of the year.
