If any team in the NFL has four better linebackers than the Bucs, please point it out to Joe.
Pittsburgh? OK, Joe will give you that. Maybe. Still, between the pass rushing of NFL sack king Shaq Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul, and the run-and-hit capability of Lavonte David and Devin White, the Bucs have a fearsome set of linebackers.
And Chiefs quarterback Pat Mahomes knows it and is very much aware of them.
In an appearance on NFL Network during their broadcast of Super Bowl Opening Night, Mahomes was asked about David and White.
“I think the best things those guys can do is defend the run just as well as defend the pass,” Mahomes said when asked about David and White. “It’s impressive to have linebackers who have that much speed and pop in the run game to make stops. It’s a special group of guys.
“It’s something I have to keep in mind on every single play because they make plays every single game.”
And per NextGen stats, no team has a pair of linebackers who can cover real estate better on the fly to make a play. That is, no team outside the Bucs.
Joe has a hunch that White is going to go wild if David can play. If David (hamstring) can play, along with the return of Vita Vea, that could just unleash White.

Yah. We are so used to 4-3 defense we forget jpp and shaq are outside linebackers and not considered really defensive ends. Even though they are..

These guys are ready and hopeing Mahomes tries to run so they can lay a good lick on him. So is whitehead and winfield. The winner of this game lies solely on our defense.

I agree about our LBs being very good, but also good in pass coverage?
Ehhh….. that’s been a weakness all season except for most of the season.
That said, I hope they have their best game this Sunday!

uuummmm…they kinda need to stay quiet and leave everyone in the dark regarding injuries…
bottom line is everyone is basically playing….
this is the superbowl – for all the marbles…if you don’t play in this game while being questionable, wtf are you in the sport for…
you get ready with the training staff…then do as they do in north dallas 40…
and you get your ass out there and play in the biggest game of your entire life…
