Super Bowl prediction.
Late in the season, Matty Ice and the Dixie Chicks finished the season playing both teams in Super Bowl LV in the final three weeks of the season.
The Dixie Chicks hosted the Bucs, traveled to Kansas City and then finished the season in Tampa for the second NFC South game between the two rivals. Atlanta went 0-3.
In the game at Arrowhead Stadium, the Dixie Chicks choked in the fourth quarter giving up 10 points in the final quarter for a 17-14 loss to the Chiefs. The Dixie Chicks, however, made Pat Mahomes (24 of 44, two touchdowns, one pick) and Cheetah Hill (4 catches, 65 yards receiving) look mortal.
So who would he choose between the Bucs and the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl?
John Breech of CBS Sports has the answer.
“Tampa,” Ryan said. “As much as it pains me to say that, I felt like their defense was one of the most difficult for us to go against all year, we had to face them twice. I think offensively, they’ve gotten better the entire year and I think they’re playing their best football right now, but I think it’s going to be a close game. Both of those teams are really good, but if I had to pick one, I think I’d choose Tampa.
“I’m just telling you, first-hand experience going against both teams and we played both of them tough. There’s no doubt about that. To me, that [Tampa Bay] defensive line was the best we faced and they make it difficult on you. It’s really hard to run the football, but they also pass-rush, they’re beasts in the pass-rush game.”
That’s just it: If, facing a decimated Kansas City offensive line, the Bucs can get at Mahomes or at least make him run out of the pocket (remember, he’s battling turf toe), that could force him into bad passes.
As regular readers know, Joe has an erection for sacks. A strong and effective pass is invaluable and makes the entire defense look better.
To paraphrase the great Al Davis, Mahomes must go down and he must go down hard.

Keep him on the ground all day. Force bad passes from him and some fumbles. Bucs will win this.

KC will NOT get 2 turnovers like the previous game…TB12 had a fluke game against GB with the turnovers, he won’t repeat those mistakes this week! Brady gets 3+ passing TDs and possibly 2 rushing TDs from our backs.

Facts Joe. We win this game on offense by being able to run the game which will really open the passing game. On defense, we win this game by getting heat on Mahomes and capitalizing on the mistakes that Mahomes makes. There will be opportunities.

Bamabuc you really think in the middle of a super bowl run Godwin is talking to any other teams. It’s just a wish list that teams that don’t make the playoffs see every year. Your probably a new bucs fan. But we have seen these stories for the last 15 years. Bucs are interested in what ever hot free agent is available. We get excited think if we sign them and if a top 3 pick drops to us at 7 we will be great next season. The bucs aren’t fixing to let Godwin walk for nothing but a late 3rd round compensatory pick. When we can Atleast franchise him and work on the contract throughout the season. But since you are a patriots fan but now say you are a Tom Brady fan so you can bandwagon on the bucs. I see where you wish the patriots would sign him. But not gonna happen. Sorry about your patriots luck of drafting wide receivers it is bad. Between the Steelers and the bucs we do pretty well at drafting recievers. So enjoy your bucs Brady jersey this weekend. Plus we didn’t even have Vita Vea when we played the Falcons. It’s all about seeking and destroying Mahomes. Be relentless Bucs defensive line and straight up curb stomp the Chiefs into submission. I believe our defense will be the difference in this game. This is our house and it’s time for the Bucs to once again raise the Lombardi trophy! Go Bucs! This is our time!

What is unique about Mahomes is not just he gets out of the pocket. Normally, when a QB scambles, it’s laterally, and if you can make him get depth, the passes are off-balance.
Mahomes can get both width and depth and STILL fling the ball accurately.

Jeff buc my man sorry to admit it but I could not force my self to read your entire comment but no I think his agent is shopping around and seeing who is interested and how much they might be willing to pay and if not he needs to fire his ass. Not that it matters but I’ve been a fan since I was around 12 when Jeff Garcia broke his nose and then we lost to Giants in the Playoffs that same year I believe

we have a great opportunity to win this game. KC,s OL is injured and a few have Covid. I believe they are without their tackles and center. We must play Press and Blitz Shaq,JJP, and White every other down.LOL. I think this time around J. DEAN will be covering Tyrek…plus he will need some Safety help. So proud of our Bucs..its been a long time since we have been in the SB. I really like our players…Bruce has helped Jason with drafting better talent. Amen

My post on another thread was score prediction of Bucs 44 – Chiefs 41. I projected a high scoring game that killed the Vegas O/U. Yep – and i am loyal Bucs homer!
But -if Pat M foot/toe is 95%??? Not so sure now. I still project high scoring game. I want a Bucs victory. But my wallet is leaning Chiefs. Their D is under-rated.
Now, I am leaning KC 47 – Bucs 45. Not my wish – wallet talking. Will be an EPIC offensive SB game.

Mahomes is a better thrower out of the pocket, the key is to keep him from scrambling, it also prevents time for Kelce, Hill & Co to break route and get open.
Godwin would be crazy to go to Pat’s or any organization that doesn’t have a good QB. If he does may vanish into the abyss. Stay hard Joe.

It must pain Matty Ice to have to talk about how good the Bucs are… but yeah, I agree with his perspective. The Bucs D is the real deal and can put the hurt on you. It all comes down to winning at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, and the Bucs can definitely do that.
