Harnessed, In Pain, And Ready

February 7th, 2021

More damage revealed

Buccaneers bone-crushing safety Jordan Whitehead appears to have a date with a shoulder surgeon after the season, but he will play today in a harness that has Joe thinking back to the contraption former Bucs DE Noah Spence used to wear.

Whitehead had two forced fumbles in the NFC Championship game among his usual array of hard hits. But his final blow dislocated his shoulder, per Bucco Bruce Arians. And according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Whitehead did more harm than that. He also tore a labrum and will play through it today in pain.

Joe hopes Whitehead avoids additional damage and can play fearlessly. He’s not a special player without that edge to his game. That may sound harsh, but it’s reality.

Joe is not surprised Whitehead is toughing it out. Joe has heard multiple times that nobody trains/grinds harder than Whitehead on the Bucs roster, and that was evident by how he remade his body during the 2020 offseason.

Wow going to be some serious pain for him every time he hits someone. How long can he endure, that’s the question. Definitely showing his heart. He is letting nothing keep him off the field. GO BUCS!!!!

mofo is a stud, lays the wood and bring the hammer, have a great game brother

  3. 2021 Year of the GOAT Says:

    Iron man🏆🏉💪👊👍

  4. Pa Privateer Says:

The Bucs are gonna show the nation who wants it more. I remember back in 2003 so many people were talking for 2 weeks about the Raiders offense blah blah blah….but that was not the story in 2003.

I live near Erie Pa. There is no one talking about the Bucs winning tonight. Absolutely. No. One. When I mention that the big national names like JPP and Suh are on the Bucs people give me an “oh yeah”. People are very much sleeping on the Bucs.

I can’t wait for all the Bucs to start making plays and I start giving out stats and talking about Buc players.

    I BELIEVE

  5. Infomeplease Says:

JW is a true WARRIOR!!! He made BIG PLAYS in the last game and will make more today!! Kick some major ash today JW!!! The main man above has got your back or should I say your shoulder!! GO BUCS!!!!

  6. BobbyH Says:

Should not play if not at least 90 percent health. Will be a liability.

  7. Eric Says:

BTW, John Lynch made the Hall Of Fame everyone

  8. Capt.Tim Says:

Hopefully, our Med staff makes sure he’s not in pain, and the harness prevents further injury!
    So glad he’s playing!!!
And I have faith in our Back up safeties. They can help him when needed.

  9. Bobby M. Says:

Emmitt Smith played with a dislocated shoulder once…..they will numb him up and deal with the injury after the game.

  10. I CARE NOW Says:

I have had this injury but never got is surgically repaired. Here is my two cents. It hurts but it is not over baring. You can’t maintain holding anything over shoulder high but you can reach the cookie jar on top of the fridge.

Long term, the pain comes and goes. More so after workouts and cold weather. And often after watching a Kay Adams report as well.

  11. Doctor Stroud Says:

And, Mahomes has a date with a foot surgeon. Remember, guys, sweep the toe! No mercy! Go Bucs!

  12. DaBux Says:

Someone played that speech from The Replacements to fire him up:

    Chicks dig scars…

  13. NaplesBucsFan Says:

    Doctor Stroud: 😜😂😂😂😂

  14. Thomas Edrington Says:

    Pain?

Has no one here heard of XYLOCAINE?

Shoot it up, get ‘er done!

  15. Devinwhiteshorse Says:

Give mahomie butt turf along with his toe turf!!! Go JW!!

  16. #1bucsfan Says:

ERIC are you serious ? And joe can you confirm that John Lynch made the hall of fame? He’s bin my favorite buc of all time since he was drafted from Harvard

  17. Joe Says:

BTW, John Lynch made the Hall Of Fame everyone

Joe isn’t sure if this is sarcasm, someone that cannot get over that Lynch is in the Hall, or someone who failed to page down to read last night’s news (including Joe and Ira’s interview with Lynch). 🤷‍♂️

  18. MadMax Says:

Good luck JW33….speed speed speed, use those legs and get your good shoulder up to block that ball.

  19. Bradinator Says:

Love this guy’s grit. Always have.

  20. TampaTown Says:

Wow JW33 is tough. Good luck kid and congratulations on playing in the SuperBowl in your home stadium

  21. Garv Says:

Tough as nails! IDIOTS who think he shouldn’t be playing are not qualified to make that call. This is the SUPER BOWL and team doctors say he can play, coaches say he’s ready to play and HE says he can play through the pain. Admire the young man. Glad he’s a Buccaneer. LFG Bucs!!!

  22. OBF Says:

Hope he has a nerve block, these guys play with unimaginable pain. The average person, me at the front of the line, would be wining like a baby just trying to get up off the couch with his condition!

  23. AMI_Chris Says:

It is so amazing that that Bucs are losers for years, then one guy shows up and they go to the Super Bowl in that first year. Team sport, huh?

  24. Tampabaybucfan Says:

If he can force another fumble….it will be worth it.

  25. Jmarkbuc Says:

    AMI

Weird take. It’s about how the TEAM responds to that “ one guy”. It still takes 11 on offense, 11 on defense.

Shows how much the last guy was inadequate .

  26. adam from ny Says:

    way to go JW…

tough it out for 3-4 hours…

    then heal up all offseason…

do it for the glory yung buccaneer…

    glory is irreplaceable

  27. BucFan76 Says:

I read often but never post…

Gotta give Jason Licht his credit…Hes done a pretty good job of drafting the last 3 or 4 years…hes had a few hiccups here and there but for the most part hes done a great job of stockpiling this team with young talent like this heat seeking missile Jordan Whitehead…Also gotta give Bruce and his staff credit too…The last 2 drafts under Arians has been really good…

I also gotta tip my hat in respect for the guys on this team like Schiano hold overs Lavonte David and Will Gholston; and Lovie Smiths 1st draft pick as Bucs head coach Mike Evans…These guys have endured more loses than anyone on this team. For them to have an opportunity to play in a Superbowl as Bucs is
    as sweet as it gets…

And last, special thanks to Mr. Tom Brady for “Making the Bucs Great Again”…He was the steady hand we needed at the QB position…Without his Fire and Leadership we wouldn’t be here today at home about to play the greatest Superbowl in NFL history…

I have good feeling about this game; I believe we will dominate…Go Bucs! Lets finish the job.

  28. Clean House Says:

I have a torn labrum right now as we speak.
They want to detach my bicep from my shoulder and reconnect it to my upper arm bone, other wise it will pull out the labrum stitching whenever I contract my bicep. I’m not real thrilled at this idea, but my arm is messed up asnit is. I wonder if they want to do the same surgery on him?
Thank god he’s not antheowing athlete, because apparently it’s very hard for baseball players to ever really be the same.

I personally feel for the guy.
    Go Bucs!

  29. Locked In Says:

I wouldn’t worry as much about his hitting as his ability to wrap up and tackle. Not sure how you do that with a torn labrum and messed up shoulder. I hope he is able to power through it and make some plays today. Go Bucs!

  30. Jason Says:

As long as he can still wrap up.

  31. OBF Says:

Good thing he is so muscular, between that and the brace / harness that restricts movement from the danger zone he should be fine, of course localized pain control.

  32. Oxycondoms Says:

Hopefully he doesn’t endanger his future

  33. bucfan34 Says:

The anticipation is killing me!! I’m looking for the D to come out hot. Smash the run and smother PM. Punching receivers at line, not allowing them to get into their routes. And Whitehead is a MAN! Love it!!

  34. The Man Says:

The Chiefs are going to test his willingness to tackle early. I hope he is able to hold up. Go Bucs!

  35. unbelievable Says:

Admire the dedication and toughness, but if he can’t bring his physical capabilities, he’s prob more of a liability than an asset.

I’m sure they’ll shoot him up good before the game and again at half time though. No guts no glory LFG!!!

  36. Jeff Says:

Huge mistake. Team will see he’s not himself and will pull him quick for Adams or Edwards

  37. OBF Says:

Don’t forget Dean .. the guy is huge and fast!

  38. Darin Says:

I tore mine 20 years ago. It still hurts sometimes. That’s one tough sob. Go get em! Go Bucs
