Where’s The Hall Call?

January 4th, 2021

Joe’s getting really cranky about nearly 24 hours of silence from the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Three years ago, then-Bucs QB Ryan Fitzpatrick became the first player in NFL history to throw for 400 or more yards in three consecutive games, Weeks 1 through 3. The honor quickly generated a request from the Hall of Fame for Fitzpatrick’s jersey.

The Hall even Tweeted a picture of it being displayed.

A year later, decision-makers at the Hall of Fame also secured Patrick Mahomes’ jersey when he became the first player to throw for 10 touchdowns in his team’s first two games of a season.

So where’s the public request for Mike Evans’ gear from yesterday’s game, when he became the first man in NFL history to record seven consecutive seasons of 1,000 or more yards receiving to start a career. That’s a far greater accomplishment that what Fitzpatrick or Mahomes did.

Joe hopes the Hall of Fame power brokers just took a long weekend, or they’re a little tied up preparing for a revamped schedule of picking the class of 2021.

If there’s no display forthcoming for Evans’ accomplishment, then something is very, very wrong.

how many yards did he beat 1000 by?

  2. Beeej Says:

    A very few

  3. Roy T. Buford Says:

Mike Evans is probably more worried today about getting his knee sorted out than sending a dirty shirt off to Canton. I think anyone with half a brain will realize it’s sensible to wait a bit as well, out of courtesy. The stat’s not going anywhere.

  4. unbelievable Says:

@Joe it’s because the NFL hates the Bucs.

Always have, always will. Even with Brady we still get no respect.

  5. Bird Says:

His record was not on any of the major sports networks/ sites

The rookie from minnesota beating randy moss rookie yards record was…
    But no mike evans.
    Its a shame.

Lets hope he goes on a tear in playoffs. He wants the bigger trophy anyway

  6. 813bucboi Says:

go deep in the playoffs and he’ll start getting attention…

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  7. Pewter Power Says:

He’ll make it 8 straight 1,000 yard seasons with a healthy Brady and a full off-season

  8. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

Think they are using caution waiting out the prognosis of his injury, ME gonna be in the Hall of Fame as a player as well

  9. windbaggery Says:

Oh, no… nearly 24 hours!?!? Like there’s nothing else more important going on…

  10. rrsrq Says:

actually, there has been very little talk about, i have seen more about Justin Jefferson breaking randy moss receiving yards record

  11. unbelievable Says:

    @rrsq – same.

    Like I said, no respect.

  12. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

If I remember correctly, Cadillac Williams sent in uniform items to the HOF when he had the most rushing yards in his first 3 games as a pro.

  13. David Says:

    Bird-
That’s not true. ESPN last night and on SportsCenter and again this morning mentioned it. Fox mentioned it several times during the game and later on.

  14. SlyPirate Says:

7 more 1000 yard seasons and he ties Jerry Rice for most 1000 yard seasons in a career.

    Wow, that sounds impossible.

  15. TOM EDRINGTON Says:

Have Ira make that call to the Hall…..

  16. Buczilla Says:

Something is already very, very wrong with the NFL HOF, but I’m almost tired of b!tching about it. Ira probably takes about 15 showers in a row after he gets back from hanging with some of those folks who are unworthy to be in his presence. 😋

  17. JustBucNwin Says:

It’s been briefly mentioned on networks but his injury overshadowed it! Caddy’s cleats and Fitz jersey was quickly requested, if we go through the week without any word than maybe our media friends should ask the question…

  18. Buc Bro Says:

Since Ira has so much pull with the hall and is great at getting Bucs players in have him give them a call. Oh, wait… maybe that’s a bad idea.

  19. TampaTown Says:

This small market/ Bucs in general disrespect is exactly the reason John Lynch, Ronde Barber, and Simeon Rice aren’t already in the Hall of Fame

  20. Mark Says:

Even Cadillac Williams got in the Hall

  21. Mort Says:

they’d just throw the jersey in the basement. forget that. sell it to benefit the Mike Evans Family Foundation or something instead.

  22. SOEbuc Says:

Mike is probably very happy about his accomplishment. Probably very pissed over the next play. He no doubt should get in the HOF for all his accomplishment’s. When it comes down to it though, he’s a professional beast on and off the field. Love you Mike. Given a lot of excitement to this dumpster fire of a team for the last 13 years.

  23. BucEmUp Says:

As long as the Glazier boys own the team the NFL will always hate the team. People who know them behind closed doors don’t respect them. Truth…

  24. REDZONE BA Says:

@BucEmUp – Please share why NFL hates Glazers – just asking as a Bucs fan.
