The Brady Impact

January 27th, 2021

In good hands with No. 12.

We can talk about Scotty Miller and we can talk about Devin White and foot-rubbing, car-littering Rob Gronkowski, or the power of Tristan Wirfs, NFL sack king Shaq Barrett and the prowess of Antoine Winfield.

But that, said former All-Pro receiver and talking head Brandon Marshall on the FS1 hollering show “First Things First,” is just clouding the picture.

The Bucs for over a decade were lousy and couldn’t win at home and always found ways to lose. They couldn’t get out of their own way.

In Marshall’s eyes, while the rest of the Bucs including Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Jason Pierre-Paul and Lavonte David are nice, the Bucs are in the Super Bowl because of one player and one player only. That’s park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking Bucs quarterback Tom Brady.

“This is the ultimate team sport,” Marshall said. “And [Brady] is the ultimate leader.”

Marshall said Brady’s mere presence in the immediately raised people’s games because there were new standards to reach.

Brady, Marshall said, commanded instant respect if for no other reason than his jewelry.

Joe believes that is absolutely true. Bucco Bruce Arians first discussed it when training camp began how younger players were sort of awestruck by Brady being on the same team.

That also meant respect.

How many young players — and the Bucs have several — do you think instantly listened to every word from Brady’s mouth and thought, “Man, if we want to win, we better do everything he says.”

Joe would guess every single one.

You can watch and listen to Marshall discuss what a major impact Brady made in the FS1 video below.

please tell me tom brady didn’t bring the gravy this year…

i was calling him tom gravy since day one…

    #TomGravy #HeavyOnTheGravyPlease

  2. Tackleblockwin Says:

He is correct. But I’m tired of hearing this team was complete garbage before Brady got here. Brady joining this team was like finding that last piece of the puzzle. It just so happened that the last piece of the puzzle didn’t just fit, but was also 24 carat gold.

  3. LVMYBUCS Says:

I agree 1000 percent. I didn’t care much if we made it to the SB this year because I knew next year would be great with a leader such as Brady in the locker room. CAN WE GO GET AARON ROGERS TO FILL BRADYS SPOT WHEN HE RETIRES?

  4. Buc1987 Says:

I tried to explain all this to Ndog a couple months ago.

  5. Bird Says:

    1987

There is a rumor that ndog was so sad and scared that he paddle boarded with his suit case from tampa to new orleans . Apparently he is somewhere in the gulf of mexico right now.

He just could not get excited that bucs were successful under someone not named jameis

  6. 813bucboi Says:

    agree with tackleblockwin!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  7. 813bucboi Says:

    1987

    we all did…lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  8. Robert Says:

please no Aaron Rogers………he’s a choke artist.

Time to draft a real QB prospect, and let TB make the call on who it is, no matter what the round.

  9. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Football at the NFL Level is as much a mental game, as it is physical.
Just the presence of Brady makes us believe we can win a Super Bowl, because he has done it, 6 times!

  10. Phred Says:

I’m starting to think this Brady guy is a darn good quarterback.

  11. rrsrq Says:

I must admit, I was team Jameis, only because I wanted to see a home grown QB get a second contract for the first time n team history without major free agency, but about halfway in, i was all in. LFG and I am glad #12 is in pewter & red. Go Bucs

  12. Alanbucsfan Says:

    Brady brought the winning culture-
Hard Work, Trust, Communication, more Hard Work, Good Decisions
Wirfs, Winfield Jr, Gronk, Succup were missing pieces to puzzle

  13. TOM Says:

Robert says no Aaron. Are you kidding me? What BS. I think Aaron would be perfect when TB calls it quits.

  14. Aceofaerospace Says:

Someone posted yesterday, I wish it were me, maybe it was Joe, “Brady is winning with Mr Pick-6’s team”. Priceless.

  15. 813bucboi Says:

did you not see AR choke!!!….lol…damn, AR went 13-3 back to back years and couldnt get it done….Bradys leadership and accountability is unmatched…..

AR is who we thought he was….a choke artist…just like brees…brees just doesnt throw his team mates and coaches under the bus…lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  16. DingleBerry Says:

Its nice to fantasize about Aaron Rodgers being our QB after Brady, but in reality he’d never come here. He’s made it known publicly several times now that he doesnt like playing at Raymond James Stadium. He doesnt like our turf apparently so I’d seriously doubt he’d even consider signing with us.

  17. Oxycondoms Says:

Why is it i see mahomes in commercials and not brady. Is it brady just not wanting to do them?

  18. stpetebucsfan Says:

“please no Aaron Rogers………he’s a choke artist.”

PUHLEEZE is right. Do I have to drop Teddy Roosevelts “The Man in the Arena”.
We can take all the cheap shots we want because we have NO SKIN in the game.

Is Jim Kelly a great QB or a choke artist for reaching four SB’s and winning none. Does it take a GREAT QB to even get to the SB.

Is Dan Marino a “Choke Artist” because he only made it to ONE SB and LOST?

Were you all not pooping your pants like me that Rodgers was going to bring the Pack back. Do you give NO credit to our defense? And indeed he DID bring them back. A questionable decision to take 3 took the ball out of his hands.

For the record. AR won SB XLV…HE WON…HE WAS THE MVP OF THE GAME.
He threw 3 TD’s in that game. Not bad for a choke artist eh?

AR has 17 comebacks and 25 game winning drives.

And if you agree with D.R. and I do…the Bucs were the better team! Rodgers did not lose the game. Rodgers did not have that moronic D package and coverage to let us score a cheap TD in the final seconds of the first half.

Cmon guys…we should all be so lucky as to choke on OUR jobs as AR has in his.

And YES…I would love for Jordan Love to take over after next year and have Rodgers be a plug and play replacement for Brady. And just like Brady, AR would arrive with a large chip on his shoulder and a lot to prove to get even with the Pack front office for dumping him prematurely.

  19. SKBucsFan Says:

Nothing needs to be discussed here. The article headline says it all!

  20. 6throundpick Says:

This was a very good football team, stuck in very good. Now, they expect to win. And they are learning/willing willing to do what it takes to win the last game. It’s been fun watching them do this…

  21. Joe Says:

Is Dan Marino a “Choke Artist” because he only made it to ONE SB and LOST?

How many times was Marino quarterbacking a No. 1 seed and gagged at home?

  22. Show Me the TDs Says:

    Thanks, Mr. Obvious.

  23. stpetebucsfan Says:

    @Joe

Just so I’m not misreading. Are you saying that yes Marino was a choke artist?

I was never a giant Marino fan but I worship the late Don Shula. It just seems hard to believe that he would stick with a choke artist.

  24. David Says:

“IS AARON RODGERS A CHOKE ARTIST?”

Well… In his career he is 0-42 trailing by one, ONE!, point or more to any winning football team in the 4th.

    So…. yes.

As big of a team sport football is, massive amounts of credit go to the quarterback. With that ones blame.
With all the physical gifts Aaron Rodgers has, he’s not as good as they claim. Don’t get me wrong, he is somewhere between 9-15 all time but they make it out like he’s top 5 all time and no. Not even close

  25. David Says:

    *** with that comes blame

  26. David Says:

Back on topic, this article is absolutely correct. Brady‘s impact is Monday through Friday. It is confidence and belief and the motivation to push yourself further.
This buccaneer team the last few years had a lot of talent but kept lacking something-
A big-time leader on defense… They now have that in Devon white.
The respect commanding leader in a quarterback, they now have that in Brady.

  27. Joe Says:

Just so I’m not misreading. Are you saying that yes Marino was a choke artist?

    Never ever typed that.

Joe loved Shula too, but to suggest he didn’t have some crap defenses when Marino played is a con.

  28. sgrd0q Says:

The other thing going for Brady (and and the team he happens to play for) is that he attracts players. Players will give a home team discount to play with him, players will join him for less money to restart their career or for a chance of a SB toward the end of their career.

  29. Owlykat Says:

    Agree totally!!!
