Starting Fast Means More Now

Yes, it behooves teams to start fast in the playoffs. And maybe this week for the Bucs, it’s never been more important.
Former Jets and Dolphins general manager Mike Tannenbaum puts out really interesting NFL research on Twitter from time to time. Today was one of those days.
Per Tannenbaum’s research, when the Redskins play from behind, they are awful. When they ground-and-pound with a lead, they are a handful.

Of course, these numbers might be tilted as Dwayne Haskins, now a former Redskins quarterback, started six games. He is horrible.
Still, the message seems clear: Don’t fart around Saturday night, Bucs. Turn loose your weapons early.

this is huge. i found the issues with the bucs mid season was they would get down and then try and make it all up right away by passing. we cant afford a slow start by either units on saturday. if we can go out to a healthy lead, it changes everything including an attacking style of defense and a run game which will inevitably lead to shots downfield. let’s not give them any confidence whatsoever and just pound them into submission right away. start fast bucs

It would seem to me that supporting our home team’s stadium sponsor would be more appropriate than supporting our opponent’s.

I guess I have to say it again, fast starts don’t matter when you let the other teams back in later! Up 20-3 midway thru 2nd quarter against the falcons, the Bucs found themselves only up 30-27 midway in the 4th quarter. Hardly a runaway. But the GOAT is a finisher, and that my dudes is what matters most! Even corn fed 19-year old hog mollies holding up 4 fingers at the last intermission get this.

Lets think about who washington has beaten for a second.
Eagles x2 (and 1 was without eagles trying)
Cowboys x2
Bengals (they were losing 9-7 when burrow went down early 3rd quarter)
Steelers (pittsburgs 2nd game in 5 days)
49ers (with mullens, no kittle and samuel out in 3rd quarter)
And thats it. They lost to carolina, arizona, giants x2 and the lions. All of those are not playoff teams. 5 games lost to non playoff teams. 1 game won against playoff teams.

I think Washington will put up a fight the 1st qtr. After that, it will all be downhill. Just too many offensive weapons for their secondary to handle IF..our O line brings their A game.

A friend of mine suggested that my use of the Redskins name was racist. Knowing I was a fellow Jewish man, he said, how would you like it if the team was named the “Jews.” Well, I said, that would never happen because it’s really a stupid name. Besides, the Redskins name was created out of reverence for the warrior spirit it embodied, it is not and never was meant to be derisive or racist. That said, I told him I’d love it if the team changed its name to “The Maccabees” after the group of Jewish rebel warriors who took control of Judea hundreds of years ago. Jaw dropped, debate ended.
