Paging Steve Smith

January 18th, 2021

Steve Smith of NFL Network.

Anyone seen Steve Smith of NFL Network lately?

Joe’s just wondering if he’s gone into hibernation recently.

Joe will continue to ask about Smith’s whereabouts daily so long as the Bucs’ are still alive in the postseason.

Is Smith doing OK?

  1. Pete I Says:

Max Kellerman and Shannon Sharp too… 3rd Biggest Win in Bucs History last night…for now…

  2. Roy T. Buford Says:

Actually, he was on last night, and it was noted that Roadgers and the Packers passing game may be some bigger than the Bucs faced with the Saints. But Smith countered with “But the Bucs have their offense” as something the Packers may not be used to. Speaks to the obvious, but Smith is around.

The Packers D is just average. Snow or not, the Bucs have demonstrated a balanced attack, especially with the one-two punch we saw with Fournette/Jones yesterday. Rodgers throws a lot of TDs, sure, but second most in the NFL is Brady right behind him, while the Bucs have a #1 run D.

  3. Roy T. Buford Says:

My question is not Steve Smith, but Joe Freakin’ Buc. Both he and Aikman seemed disappointed as the Bucs began to pull away in the 4th quarter. On Fournettes TD grab, Buck said no less then three times he felt the officials should look at it again. Stupid as he11–he was by himself, he bobbled the ball, but had it and it never came close to the touching the ground. Then well into the Bucs victory formation, Buck says in a low monotonethat “Fox projects Tampa Bay be in Green Bay for the NFL Championship game.” WTF? I can’t stand those guys. Give us Burkhardt and Johnson PLEASE.

  4. Roy T. Buford Says:

The biggest story of this game, and how it was won, is back to the most basic stat in history. Turnovers, 4-0. Not Brady pass yards, not Shaq/JPP sacks, not stuffing the run. Turnovers, plain and simple. Yeah, we know Brees isn’t healthy but he hadn’t thrown three picks in a game in four years. It was pressure up front mixed with man coverage on the back end that created the turnovers. Throw that zone crap away, Todd.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Steve Smith was on last night……fell short of admitting he was wrong about the Bucs….and he had multiple opportunities to do that….
Any person in media who wants to maintain any credibility needs to come clean with their audiences……

  6. HereForTheDeepDowner Says:

Well all things considered he could write articles for the blog……

  7. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Tbbf

He did say that to get his foot out of his mouth, he would have to pick Bucs to go to SB.

But he’s still a douche… no offense to Doosh.

  8. All lives matter Says:

Our pass rush needs to get there. Seems they don’t have the same tenacity as early in the season.

  9. August 1976 Buc Says:

You know Joe, I just realized that Drew Brees only threw 2 passes of 20 or more yards against the Bucs in 3 games and none yesterday, and only 18 total for the year. You know T Bowels had to have the defense laying in the weeds about this. Reminds me of Peyton Manning in the Super Bowl against Seattle. Seattle knew what most did not, that Peyton could not get the ball downfield. I would think T Bowels knew this. Now that the Bucs knocked off their nemesis the Aints, it is now time for Brady to out duel A Rodgers and stamp a return ticket home to play in Tampa for all the marbles. GO BUCS!!!!!!

  10. Jay Mack Says:

Steve Smith said last night that he puts his foot in his mouth, and then picked the Bucs to win it all. It be looked painful for him to say, but he said it.

  11. ClodHopper Says:

He just admitted he was wrong and took his “foot out of his mouth” on NFL Network. Probably recorded last night but he picked us to beat the Pack. He looked like he was bummed and on Quaaludes too. lol

  12. Chris L Says:

I love this joe hahahah. This is better than shaq (still) drinking cam Newton’s gatorade which was pure gold hahah! Well done joe and well done bucs. Too many things to type but damn am I proud of this team. Every player contributed every one! Even mickens with a nice punt return after that gaffe tackle to start the game

  13. NashvilleBuc Says:

He was on NFL network after the game and he was either sick or drunk. He was horribly boring. We watched highlights on ESPN. Eff Steve Smith.

  14. Leighroy Says:

Steve smith was indeed incredibly boring and monotone last night. Couldn’t be less compelling even when he has stupid takes. You’d think NFL network could do better?

  15. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I heard it too, when Troy Aikman said “Fox projects Tampa Bay to go to Green Bay”.
I said to myself WTF ?
We were 2 scores up, and seconds away from the 2 minute warning, for crying out loud.
That game was over long before they called it!

  16. The_jake Says:

Lol Paging Dr. Loudmouth! I say again paging Dr. Loudmouth!

  17. DoooshLaRue Says:

Joe Buck is a pompous closeted prick.
    Aikman is a wax figure.

  18. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

Joe Buck was actually taking a jab at FOX taking so long to call the election in favor of the clear winner Joe Biden. Look up Hot Mic blooper during flyover by Aikman and Buck, and you will understand more. They are serviceable as announcers , though Buck makes Trump seem humble.

  19. Ftmyersbuc Says:

Hey at least nick wright had finally given up bashing brady. This morning he surrendered lol.

  20. All lives matter Says:

Yeah seemed Aikman and Buck were have a Saints lovefest last night. They don’t hide their bias at all.

  21. BUC CHEEKS Says:

    FVCK STEVE SMITH!!!!!!!!!!! GO BUCS!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. Joe Says:

Joe Buck is a pompous closeted prick.

LOL Well, he stalked (his words) and married a former Broncos cheerleader. Not a bad move for a “closet” dude. 🙂

  23. 813bucboi Says:

    Crow eaters lol….

    GO BUCS

  24. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

Really not sure why you’re so angry. You continually insult Joe, so why come back? And for the record, Joe’s adjective of “savior” for Devin White, still often used today, was born from Bucs management painting him as a savior from the day he arrived. It’s not an insult. They figured he could be in a defensive leadership role before he put on a jersey, and they expected little to no learning, hence a savior to fix the defense after years of ineptitude. –Joe

  25. John Bowser Says:

Smith is terrible at this job. NFL Network should replace him.

  26. JimbobBucsFan Says:

To Roy T., @Joe and others, here’s how I handled my annoyance with d***head national TV announcers and analysts during the regular season.

I bought myself a pocket radio and a set of earphones. I merely muted the TV and listened to Gene and Dave’s call of the games. On Tuesday nights I watched the rebroadcast of the game. I generally got some good laughs out of any stupid remarks at that time. No one ruined my enjoyment of any of our wins this year!

    Go Bucs!

P.S. As an elder citizen I have been following the semi-isolation protocol required by the Virus. This practice did me a lot of good psychologically as well during these crazy times.

  27. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

Stop insulting our players, coaching choices and pretty much all the way down and I’ll stop insulting you…. And don’t pretend you don’t!!
Some players performances deserve insulting, as do some coaching decisions. That’s sports. That’s how Joe enjoys talking sports at bars and in the stands at games. Joe doesn’t tell anyone how to be a fan — ever. Not sure why some fans like to dictate to others. Don’t like it here, just find other Bucs commentary. This is an opinion-driven website. –Joe

  28. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

When you snub a player that was certainly deserving of being All-Pro as Devin White was , it can be a huge motivation in addition to playing in front of a bunch of people you know. White is absolutely one of the best in the league , and will only get better.
The Bucs have every reason to believe they will be even better next year with the return of VV and OJ. Brady may play into his late forties????????

  29. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

An opinion is different than the insults and mocking players with stupid monikers that this site does…. I understand it’s an “opinion driven” website… And MY opinion (which is just as important as yours believe it or not because me and others coming here is why you have a job) is that you and your team at joebuc have a knack for insulting our organization… You call it opinion, I call (some of it, not all and I don’t make bad comments on well written pieces) insulting to our young guys that made it to a level you have no comprehension of!! … I fought hard thinking I may be in the NFL one day and just couldn’t get there! I respect the hell out of these guys that make it this far!! ESPECIALLY the ones who are humble about it like Rojo …. If Arians thinks Rojo is the best running back on the squad, who are you to say he’s wrong… You can say “I believe Rojo doesn’t have the tools other RB in today’s game have” like other professional sites do… But no you say “he’s a piece of trash, fumble producing, blah blah blah” that I have seen MANY in here criticize but not too many say they enjoy… I think pretty much anyone in here just skips to the next paragraph…. I had your back when you spoke badly of Brown because his actions outside the NFL and inside have been deserving of that! Plus I think it messed up all the rhythm they had going… But some 21 year old kid being thrown into the NFL that you or I never came close to being called some stupid paragraph of insult is not deserved or respected…. Again I understand it’s an opinion piece.. which I have just given my opinion on.. whether others agree or not I believe these guys work their assess off to get where they are and deserve professionalism … Again, in my opinion
