Flashback: “Bruce Arians Right Now… He’s Not Cutting It”

January 26th, 2021

Whoops!

Joe is naming names this week. And this one was a doozy.

Former Belicheats linebacker Ron Ninkovich, an ex-teammate of park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking Bucs quarterback Tom Brady, made himself into a Colin Cowherd-like stooge twice this year on BSPN when he called for Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians’ head on a platter.

One reason was that Ninkovich felt Arians was mean to Brady. The second reason was when Arians explained in a press conference that A.Q. Shipley may have had a career-ending injury.

You know what is hysterical about the latter? Ninkovich wanted Arians launched for saying Shipley may have had a career-ending injury when he did have a career-ending injury!!!

On Arians’ work with Brady, this Ninkovich — talking more like Nincompoop — said Arians “is not cutting it.”

Meanwhile, two months after Nincompoop stated Arians wasn’t getting the job done, Arians along with Brady are preparing to face the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV.

  1. Joe in Michigan Says:

I’ve never seen Ninkovich on TV, and I’m thankful for that. I have, however, seen comments on here, and since we’re naming names…

Kobe Faker said Vita Vea would be pushed 10 yards off the line of scrimmage against Green Bay.

DalvinCookRules said the Saints would be beating the Bucs so bad, they’d probably call the game at halftime.

El Buco Realisto said Rob Gronkowski didn’t have the heart to play football anymore, Gronk’s been blocking like a man possessed in the playoffs.

Just a few of the gems I remember.

  2. Eric Says:

I’m guilty also I was calling him (BA) a used car salesman but the one thing I will say is he has changed his philosophy and adjusted also! The Bucs will still take deep shots but they will also stick with the run and they also has implemented the short game which is Brady strong point!

Unless the Bucs change their offense to fit Brady’s style of play (and age), this isn’t going to end well… my prediction, and there have been very few incorrect ones if I may say so myself, is that 1) Bucs will not change their offense 2) Bucs fans will be wishing they had JW back by end of year (of course some will forever hate him no matter what) 3) people will wonder if Brady would’ve been so great had it not been for Bellicheat.

The sheep will nuts for drafting OT in the first, or trading for an OT!!!!!! But when a draft is deep in a postion. Usually there will be a robust secondary market for OT from teams cutting older , overpayed OT that can be had on the cheap!!!!!!!!! Also, that second round OT market free agent has experience and can play well THIS year, as a drafted rookie will have growing pains!!!!!!! If you are going to mortgage the future, might as well to try to maximize draft picks that can contribute right away!!!!!!!!!!!

Then next year there will be article here ” Who deserves the “F” for Brady”
Its wash, rinse, repeat in Tampa land. Only sparks that this team can make is signing Brady. Ain’t nothing else happening
And this weird feelings of “Oh, Brady is gonna win for us now” mantra makes it really bad. Everyone playing better because of Brady is an embarrassment and doesnt make any sense. So we have high schoolers or nah

JimmyJack do you truly believe that this team has good enough pass protection vs teams with a real pass rush considering we basically have a statue playing QB that is basically useless at the first sign of pressure?

  4. mg Says:

Here in Massholeachusetts 70% of the sports radio personalities can’t stand TB-12. 2 former tight ends Wiggins and Fauria continually try and beat down TB-12. Who knows why? The only reason they have a radio job is because they played with TB-12. Disgusting. People in the N.E. are highly over rated.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

There have been many who have been wrong about Brady & BA…..you know who you are…..and it’s OK to be wrong….all of us are at some point.

It’s how you handle it from here that matters.

  6. Defense Rules Says:

Eric … I agree with you about BA changing his philosophy some and adjusting. Smart move when you add a QB like Tom Brady to lead your team. Smart coaches don’t try to change the greatest QB of all time to fit their philosophy.

Kinda thinking that at the beginning of the season that there was some of that going on while everyone was ‘getting to know each other’. But once strengths (and weaknesses) became obvious, they all settled in to a ‘blended’ offensive philosophy that incorporated the best of all worlds I think. And it’s worked very well for us in this recent 7-game winning streak especially.

Oops, my bad. Soon to be 8-game winning streak.

  7. Bird Says:

Dont forget lamarcus saying brady was garbage and winston was a HOFer

Dont forget the entire “messiah cult “ claiming jameis was getting 5 years 30 mil per year for 150 mil contract I mean that didnt age well

Munch recently saying vea was only a two down nobody nose tackle

    Cleanhouse predicting 48-3 saints

    —-
Its funny but most of the posts that people were trying claim as (bound to happen ) facts were about a former player here. Sure he will get shot with saints? He should? Well maybe And im good with that. Turnovers lose ball games.

And those 3 picks on brady. ( one was more of a punt when you go back and look at it ) and i dont think brady throws anymore 50/50 jump balls to mike who is a tall former basketball player that doesnt use size for some reason.

But those picks were on brady. He played a crappy second half. See normal buc fans dont make accuses for turnovers game in and game out like “the messiah cult” for 5 year. And brady is the goat but he shouldnt do those jump balls until he trusts his guys like he had with randy moss. I think he will do jump balls with godwin. He chucked one in first half for him to make a play. Godwin tracks the ball so well. Maybe he works on those with mike in full offseason. Again It worked when brady had moss. Thought we were the dunkaneers

  8. SKBucsFan Says:

No doubt the whole staff has improved. They did a good job of coming out in the 2nd half and improving their performance on many occasions . The fact of the matter is that it took 12 weeks to prepare them properly for a full 60 minutes. Does anybody remember the second game against the hated Saints?
In a league of ‘what have you done for me lately’ they do deserve kudos for improving. And I couldn’t be happier for them. Unfortunately I have been cursed with a long term memory. Although a SuperBowl may make me forget

  9. Tackleblockwin Says:

I knew all the Brady not getting along with Bruce Arians talk was a bunch of BS right when it started. I think both were probably very frustrated that they didn’t have much of an offseason to iron out all the details of the offense. They were frustrated at the situation, not each other. It is obvious that this coaching staff and team battled day and night to get things to where they are. A truly amazing effort by this organization. Win or lose the SB, this team has made me a very proud fan. Before the season started I picked us to go 10-6 with a wild card birth. To me that was a pretty logical prediction given the circumstances they faced. I figured they might win one playoff game this year, and to me that would have been joy enough in Brady’s first year. But, winning the NFC with three straight road games victories in the playoffs is just remarkable. I think only die hard Bucs fans can truly appreciate and comprehend how unbelievable this season has been for our Bucs.

  10. Defense Rules Says:

TBBF … Not sure I understand your ‘you know who you are’ comment. Every coach (and player) faces criticism at various points in their careers. Bill Belichick is NOW considered to be a great coach, yet in 5 yrs as the Browns’ HC he went 36-44 with ONE winning season, made the playoffs once, and then ‘moved on’ shall we say. Jon Gruden won the SB in his 1st year here, but went 45-51 in his 6 yrs here after that, got eliminated in the 2 Wildcard games we made it into, and got fired. Andy Reid went 130-93 in his 14 yrs as the Eagles HC, but then had ONE 4-12 season and it was hasta la vista baby.

All 3 HCs have won Super Bowls, and yet all 3 struggled at one point in their careers and paid a price. NFL really is a ‘what have you done for me lately’ league.

I get amused by how many ‘true blue Bucs fans’ heap praise on the team … when the Bucs win (saw the same thing in 2002 season BTW). But when they struggle, oh man they instantly become ‘the worst team in the world’ to those same fans. Hey, fans are fickle I guess. Me included. Football is ‘entertainment’, and it’s not ‘entertaining’ to continually lose.

After a long career in the military it was obvious to me that leaders are only as good as their people. And so it is with NFL coaches IMO. It’s hard to win if you don’t have the horses. But even if you do have a stacked roster, you’ve gotta build all that individual talent into a TEAM & even then there’s no guarantee of winning at the NFL level. So many intangibles (ask Matt LaFleur & Aaron Rodgers). I’m just enjoying this year for what it’s been … a fun ride. Can’t wait for Feb 7th.

  11. The_jake Says:

Just another reason why I no longer watch those friggin arguing shows. As the @Joes have said and opened my eyes on multiple occasions, these people will say anything for eyeballs, clicks and likes. Remains me of clothing optional establishments, the bright signs, the…….ATTRACTIONS, but you always leave disappointed. Anywho F the clowns that hate and GoBucs!!!

  12. Listnfrmafar Says:

Let’s be honest many on this blog had it out for BA earlier in the season after some of those big losses. BA, BL & Bowles have been scrutinized. Early on this team was undiscipline and clearly not in sync. Hats off to the coaching staff for getting it together. Ninkovich was a great player and good friend of TB12. He was just seeing what the rest of us were 2 months ago. He is not Steve Smith and Joe shame on you for calling him out for you to had some have had negative comments in the past regarding this staff.

  13. Roy T. Buford Says:

The fact remains, there were points in the season the Bucs coaching wasn’t getting it done. Some people have amnesia. That does not mean they didn’t adjust to where they ARE getting it done. I do think it was odd to say Arians should fired over the Shipley comments, and I’d expect hm also to say now that Arians has righted the ship. Frankly, my bet is Tom Brady was squawking (rightfully so), the coaches realized they needed to try something differently, and did. Good on all of them. This happens quite frequently in just about every aspect of life, right? Guys fix their issues, or guys with no issues starting having them. And after all, no one but those we don’t like is ever wrong any prediction or assessment, right (sarcasm)? I remember a lot of articles here about play calls, game prep, in-game decisions over the past two years. So go ahead, name the names, Joe, it doesn’t really matter. Childish really.

  14. SKBucsFan Says:

Well said Defense Rules. I have been one of those guys during a lot of games. But I know I wouldn’t want the job.
As much as they seemed to have improved we can not forget the Brady factor. He has brought an attitude that looks to be more infectious than the covid.

  15. Buc1987 Says:

Joe in Michigan….Kobe is always wrong and Realist has been so far off base this season he really shouldn’t even count as a gem.

  16. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @Defense

    I was referring to posters…..

  17. Hodad Says:

Arains admitted after the game what’s different about the Bucs this season, “one person,Tom Brady”. That’s right, he said what Belichick never would say, I’m not the greatest, Tom is. It’s what Gruden always said, “not about the X’s, and O’s, but about the Jimmys, and Joes”. Talent usually wins out. The Chiefs would be mortal without Mahommes. The Goat, against the kid, couldn’t ask for a better game.

  18. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

He was a much better Linebacker, as a Linebacker than he is on ESPN.
    He is a Ninkonpoop

  19. Roy T. Buford Says:

A couple more points that make articles like this so bad. It’s not that Arians should be fired over the Shipley comments…didn’t think it warranted that. But the day or two after Shipley’s injury, before medical news comes out, the HC shouldn’t take the liberty to basically declare a player’s career over, right? Who made Arians the NFL medical authorities and decider of what Shipley’s destiny is? Why not let Shipley come out in his due time. I think that is what was meant. Just like Brady did not come out when asked and declare that Brees was going to retire. He said folks would have to ask him that. It’s no matter whether Arians was correct on Shipley or not. Not his place to say. So, that’s not so hysterical, Joe.

  20. JimBuc2 Says:

    A. Rodgers is likely watching what he called media porn with an unimpressive 1-4 Championship record, and unpleasant Tampa Bay memories. I don’t think the shield expected this outcome. The talking heads were near unanimous, with 2\3 picking Green Bay. Rodgers has been exposed, now left arguing with Brees, Heinike, and others about who is number two?
Brady stands as the best QB, redefining Buc culture to commit to winning your matchups. These Bucs are different. They take the field and expect to win, not play not to lose. BA n JL deserve praise for putting Win Now on the field this year. Glazers seeing results they very much like. Joel G. actually lent his voice publicly “We’re coming home!” He shouted. Good that Ownership speak out, and show some enthusiasm.
    Go Bucs!

  21. Winny Testaverde Says:

At 7-5 and leaking more oil than Ira’s former OldsmoBuick…it wasn’t unreasonable to think Josh McDaniels was a possibility in 2021. A 7 game winning streak later…Arians is slated for the Ring of Honor if Joe had a vote. What a league…what a season!

  22. Wesley Says:

At that time a lot of us thought the same way.

  23. sgrd0q Says:

He has a point, though. Bruce will call out players publicly; it’s just the way he is. Does that bother Brady – hard to say. There is no perfect partnership – you got to take the bad with the good.

  24. gp Says:

    Excellent post DR, especially
***I’m just enjoying this year for what it’s been … a fun ride. Can’t wait for Feb 7th.***
I’m a die hard fan who roots for and defends all who wear pewter and red (and orange and white too) until they’re not wearing them anymore.
I’ve done so since their inception. I even have somewhat fond memories of stopping at Hooters on the way home from a game just to see something that looks good in orange and white!
I wholeheartedly agree that this is entertainment. And this has been a VERY entertaining year!

  25. gp Says:

    Mea culpa…
I did post a few discouraged comments about DS76
    Nobody’s perfect

  26. Joe in Michigan Says:

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, geno711!

  27. Defense Rules Says:

@gp … “I even have somewhat fond memories of stopping at Hooters on the way home from a game just to see something that looks good in orange and white!”

LMAO gp. Go ahead and tell me that it was all the FANS wearing orange & white at HOOTERS sharing their comments about the game that had you all excited. Ya right, I’ll buy that; Just not today. Tomorrow’s not looking so good either.

  28. Joe in Michigan Says:

Buc1987: I just wanted some/all of the doom and gloom trolls to know that, although they’ve went into hiding, they’re not forgotten.

  29. 813bucboi Says:

BA BL and Bowles have all gotten better each week…

    Great work fellas!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  30. Buc1987 Says:

    I used to do that.

Use posters own words to make them look stupid.

Then I predicted Jameis Winston would win a SB within 3 years of entering the NFL. Said so repeatedly.

Peeps get shyte wrong, but when peeps are so off base like Realist sometimes they need to be called out.

I defended Arians back then saying stuff like you want to bring back Schiano and Mike Glennon. The team was 7-5 and I kept also saying the team would finish 10-6 or 11-5. Most peeps answer was then it’s one and done in the playoffs. Then I said…..I’m fine with that.

  31. Chesapeake Bay Bucco Says:

geno711, thanks for the reminder of the doomsayers BS spout! They are the real losers and not real Bucs fans. Almost feel sorry for the sorry lot!

  32. orlbucfan Says:

I predicted 11-5, and was very pleasantly surprised when it came true. I don’t watch the boob tube much. The only way I know about the idiotic bloviating sports yahoos is from reading sites like here. Sure don’t miss anything.

  33. geno711 Says:

So there are plenty of guys on here that I do not always agree with and I love the blog for the fact that we are able to give our varying opinions.

Certainly, as fanatics we can call out a coach or coaches for bad play calling or that certain players are weak links and we want to call them out. All fair IMO.

But I decided to want to troll back to some of the biggest trolls on the site over the last year.

My strongest opinion on the coaching staff is that they do understand how to coach. Whether they adapted more to Brady or Brady more to their scheme that is good coaching. It did not happen in a day but it happened before the playoffs started and we got in the dance.

Also, as to whether we have good or average offensive line and defensive backfield, I say those are the two positions that fans only notice when bad things happen.

But as to coaching, it is clearly my strong opinion that both of those groups are much better in the two years since this coaching staff has arrived. This staff can teach!

  34. Drunkinybor Says:

Even in our downest moments this season I had no doubt it would come together. While it seemed negativity rained I kept seeing a team that was better than any I had seen since 2002. At the very least I thought 10-6 wild card win and if it comes together like I thought it would a super bowl team. Just look at our talent its unbelievable. Aa far as rosters go this is the best roster we have ever had. Sure our old Bucs had great great defensive players but the talent in this team is on both sides. * side note* the trade for JPP is up there as the best trade in our history.

  35. gp Says:

    @DR
    C’mon man
!st couple of seasons I was 12-14
    I was all about entertainment!

  36. David Says:

    Geno and Joe in Michigan-

LoL. Those quotes and pointing out completely ignorant football minds like elBucorealist, is hysterical.

    The facts are clear:
The Bucs OC, DC, & HC have outcoached all the other coaches, including the great Sean Payton, in the playoffs so far.

Brady looks like he can play three more years easily.
Vita Has shown his presence in the middle is priceless.

Notice how throughout the playoffs all these idiots have not been on this site posting anything. There’s about 7-8 of them. It is my belief that they are all not actually Buccaneer fans.
What all of them definitely are, however, is very ignorant when it comes to football

  37. Lamarcus Guiton Says:

    Bird and Geno

Yea and IRONICALLY we are going to a SB on 3 ints from the Qb lol.

  38. Fernando Diaz Says:

    Another gasbag
Like Joe stated games are not played on paper or social media.
Brady picked a team, culture changed a we are in a SB
Funny first Washington front 4, then The Aint’s & then Lambeau and the Packers
We can win out, all we need is a couple of plays.
    Go Bucs

  39. Crack3rK Says:

I miss the sunshine that TMaxcon brought to the convo. I guess he’s retreated to his own “safe space.” Probably trolling the Bellicheats.

  40. BucEmUp Says:

At the time Arians and leftwich we embarrasing themselves.

  41. Mike C Says:

It is funny to laugh at people who “Knew” that the Bucs had no shot. I don’t have a problem with opinion or speculation at all. Some of these people had us as one of the worst teams in the league. From any reasonable objective observation one could see this team had Talent and Leadership AKA a shot.

  42. windbaggery Says:

This is the problem with sports media in general — snap judgments, conclusions with inadequate sample data, hot takes, rumors turn into truths… It’s there only to sell advertising.

Remember how all these idiots thought there was a “growing rift” between Arians and Brady before midseason? Completely made up, and some people believed it… Not unlike the stolen election lies.

  43. Keir Says:

I LOVE you calling ALL these dopes out Joe!!!

The 2 weeks are a time for all Bucs fans to make uninformed talking heads eat their words.

  44. Bucsfanman Says:

I’m just wallowing in the moment, no “I told you so’s” necessary! A trip to the Super Bowl says everything needed to be said.

    Go Bucs!!!

  45. Bird Says:

    Lamarcus

    Read the post. Bradys fault.
You never blamed jameis It was everyone elses fault

And what about jameis 5 turnover game
The only qb with 30 and 30
    😂

I mean i am embarrassed for you
Glad you dont post anymore cause your scared.
    🗑- thats you

  46. JimmyJack Says:

Epic flashback Joe. Keep em comin I say.

I been happy with Bruce since the day he walked through the door. From Day 1. you could see Bruce made great decisions on how to rebuild one of the worse defenses to ever step onto an NFL field. Bowles of course was the best decision made in that department.

This guy knows nothing about the Buccaneers if hes calling for a coach to be canned after 2 years.

  47. LargoBuc Says:

yes, tmax and realist. I used to call them out constantly but soon realized it was pointless.
And 1987, a true OG here at JBF!
Man I can’t believe we’re in the freaking super bowl!
