Big Time Game From Fournette

January 9th, 2021

Monster when needed.

In his previous three postseason games, Bucs backup running back Leonard Fournette had no less than 75 yards rushing and at least one touchdown with the Jags.

Tonight, he outdid himself.

With Ronald Jones being a late scratch with a quad injury (given the fact he was on the gameday active roster, it suggests he may have been hurt in warmups), Fournette was called on to carry the load.

He sure as hell did as he had probably his best game with the Bucs. Fournette had 93 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown. He also added four receptions for 38 yards.

“Leonard played great,” Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians said. “Best he has played all year. We only had two backs.”

When asked a two-part question about Fournette and RoJo, specifically about RoJo’s injury, Arians did not address it.

Yea he played well but it looks like he thinks to much when he is running instead of just hitting the hole and going. But still he played well.

  2. Lamarcus Guiton Says:

I think he did pretty good. Look like a playoff running back. Hope they keep him in more down the stretch

  3. Snook Says:

[Joe has zero evidence on this. And the playoffs is not the time to be playing games like that. Arians didn’t just fall off the turnip truck. — Joe]

  4. The_jake Says:

He was one of the few bright spots. I just wish the rest of the team (except Evans and Brate) wouldve stepped up to Bradys level.

  5. Leighroy Says:

They said during the game that he aggravated a quad injury. How did the entire media miss that he had an injury to aggravate in the first place?

  6. Miller5252 Says:

He looked different tonight. He seemed to be hitting the holes hard and even caught some balls without letting the ball hit the ground once tonight. I’m sure Vaughn will be done for the year after another giveaway. Get Rojo and white back next week and they’ve got a good chance to win by going point for point with whoever they play! Go Bucs!

  7. Robert Says:

He played like a #1 RB should play. Props. Can’t afford him next year though.

  8. SlyPirate Says:

After Brady, Fournette and both Tackles deserve game balls.

  9. David Says:

    He did great.
Not to complain but it always seems like he finishes by coming to a standstill standing straight up. He rarely lowers the shoulder and goes low and plows forward for another couple.

Either way, good win and what is up with Ronald Jones

  10. SteveK Says:

    Great comment Luv!

I agree and the last run he had he looked good and decisive. Even knew to slide to stay in bounds. He’s a player and we are lucky to have this roster. All hail the Goat!

  11. Marques Says:

Let’s not get carried away with the word “great” . He was good. Not great but good enough.

  12. David Says:

    Sly…
Exactly what I said on another feed. If not the entire O line, Smith and Wirfs should share a game ball

  13. BT Says:

What D-line? Our front five are made of granite. Having Larsen, hero of 2010, was icing on the cake.

  14. Robert Says:

Props to the O line too…. and we need to sign Honecker to be our next QB. Dude was lights out.

  15. Bucszntkt2005 Says:

What happened with Godwin ? Major choke !!! How disappointing to see this with Chris !

  16. FrankPillow Says:

The lights were not too bright for 28. He was clutch.

  17. 813bucboi Says:

    Execution on offense hurt us….

    Defense played horrible….

    GO BUCS

  18. unbelievable Says:

    @813 – 100%

I thought Leftwich called a pretty good game outside of just a couple plays. Brady had 1 or 2 early misses, and Godwin had the dropsies which was just maddening.

But mostly, the defense was just pathetic.

  19. lambchop Says:

    LVMYBUCS,

Leveon stutters b4 hitting the hole. Every RB has their own style. With 93 yards, there’s really no need to critique his style. The OL played great this whole game. By far the most complete game from the OL.

  20. EEK Says:

    Fournette was tremendous.
He was physically dominant and it looked like he could have taken over the game if given the chance.

Agree. Fournette played great and Donovan Smith played well…where was Young all night. On one of Fournette’s second half runs Smith stonewalled Young to create a huge hole.

He ran with power when needed…spin moves when needed..and quickly hit the hole when one was provided. I like ROJO but I still think if both ROJO and Fournette bring their A games I give the edge to Fournette because of size and hands difference.

Sadly Vaughn isn’t nor should he see the field again during the playoffs unless we’re ahead by three TD’s in the second half. You just can’t put the ball on the ground in that situation. Let’s hope ROJO gets healthy and we can truly use Fournette and ROJO.

  22. Rod Munch Says:

Whatever happened to Rojo must have happened during the pre-game warmups, otherwise they would have had McCoy active – which they didn’t.

But this is why they got Fournette, a proven guy, who came up big in the playoffs before – when you can add him AS A BACKUP, you do so. Thankfully the Bucs did just that. It’s also why they added AB, just think if Evans hadn’t been able to go and we’re facing a good defense with Scotty Miller as a starter. UGH.

Good for Fournette, he just made himself some money.

  23. Cobraboy Says:

Fournette play very well, but that fumble by Vaughn, like his other fumble, really hurt.

  24. Conte Piscateli Says:

Fournette played last night for a contract next year. He hasn’t looked like much all season, but that game gets him a better contract elsewhere next year

  25. Mike28277 Says:

Thank goodness we have depth on Offense.

  26. Listnfrmafar Says:

WFT def playing pass first, freed up the run. Little concerned about Rojo hope it’s not an attitude adjustment, he would if had 150 yds last night. Vaughn sorry bud, that turn over was huge, this is the PO’s, you turn it over you lose.

  27. Ericb Says:

LF did pretty good he needs to be more explosive and not side step at first step but explode forward…excllent job on using gronk to protect brady props to the oline…give brady time well win games…the fumble by vauge was disasterous especially when we probably would of scored that drive…it should of been a much bigger lead by Bucs but there were so many dropped passes which cant happen goodwin and evens dropped many….we need AB more envolved hes dynamic…our defense needs to step it up the kept the acore pretty low but tackleing is a huge issue we need to adress…lets root for the bears so well play at home TAMPA BAY ALL THE WAY

  28. Listnfrmafar Says:

Bears giving game away. Wide open drop pass in end zone and penalties galore. I like Bucs chances in shoot out Brady over Brees. Bress could be done.
