Aaron Stinnie Will Start For Alex Cappa
January 11th, 2021The guy who replaced Alex Cappa after he fractured his ankle on Saturday, veteran Ted Larsen, is not the guy who will replace Cappa on Sunday against the Saints in the NFC Divisional Round of the playoffs.
Bucco Bruce Arians announced today that Aaron Stinnie will start at right guard for Cappa.
Stinnie, 26, has never started in the NFL. He was undrafted in 2018, and then was waived by Tennessee in 2019 and claimed by the Bucs.

Next man up!
January 11th, 2021 at 12:24 pm
Oh no!😐
January 11th, 2021 at 12:24 pm
Why???? Larson held his own.
January 11th, 2021 at 12:24 pm
Cleveland played 2 OL last night that they just signed. Time to step up hoss, it can be done.
January 11th, 2021 at 12:25 pm
“Stinnie, 26, has never started in the NFL.”
Great. Sounds promising.
January 11th, 2021 at 12:26 pm
oh snap! please let him play well!
He’s a big man though! Would this signal more run plays?
January 11th, 2021 at 12:26 pm
This is where the injury to Shipley hurts…
I suspect Gronk will be on the right side so Wirfs can help Stinnie…..
Look for Brate & AB to have good games…..Saints will cover Evans & Godwin….
January 11th, 2021 at 12:30 pm
Dewey, great point. Cleveland lost two guys that, frankly, are a lot better than Cappa. If you are to lose any position on a team – it would be right guard. The Bucs need to just make it work and execute. It’s go time
January 11th, 2021 at 12:32 pm
let us pray…
“it’s stinnie time”
he looks a little like donald penn in the above pic…let’s hope he plays like it as well…
larsen looked out of shape, sloppy and slow…just isn’t ready – or at the end of a long career
January 11th, 2021 at 12:33 pm
cappa X wirfs was really really becoming a terrific right side…
and should be for many years to come…
but we are in “right now” mode
January 11th, 2021 at 12:34 pm
Larsen aint big enough for saints DT
That was reported on other site
Plus larsen played garbage ball
January 11th, 2021 at 12:35 pm
This mean More of what we saw against Washington. Quick release plays. Not holding the ball for 5 seconds waiting for plus to develop. Know where the ball is going and get it there quickly. Or we may have another blow out on our hands. But I trust Brady and BA to get the job done.
January 11th, 2021 at 12:41 pm
larsen will be ready for the switcheroo if stinnie flops out
January 11th, 2021 at 12:44 pm
Larsen looked rough. Gave up interior pressure once cappa went out. Let wirfs and jensen help him out, keep a te in to help as well.
January 11th, 2021 at 12:49 pm
How crazy is it that Ted Larsen is on the team at all, when he was previously a Buc during the Rah and Schiano days.
January 11th, 2021 at 12:52 pm
agree with @bird…
GO BUCS!!!!
January 11th, 2021 at 1:11 pm
Oh Good Lawd. Please help us
January 11th, 2021 at 1:11 pm
Larsen went to Palm Harbor High School in Pinellas
January 11th, 2021 at 1:11 pm
I like it. We can use Larsen for depth
January 11th, 2021 at 1:28 pm
If Tyler Henikie come ball out from the shadows, why can’t Stinnie. Larson is a lightweight for the Saints DTs, Stinnie gives us mor size, Time to shine on the right side
January 11th, 2021 at 1:36 pm
Stinne got in against the Rams and held his own against Aaron Donald. This is a good move. I like Larson as a backup center but Stinne should be fine. They will help him.
January 11th, 2021 at 1:47 pm
This is actually a strong vote of confidence expressed to Wirfs. They feel Wirfs can work with the newbie and the right side will holds its own.
January 11th, 2021 at 1:50 pm
Oh boy. Next man up!
@tbbf – well then who the hell is gonna help D Smith lol?
January 11th, 2021 at 1:53 pm
hgiLarsen was not an effective player in his first Buc stint. He was poor Saturday nite, Bucs went more max protection keeping a RB in with Larsen.
Stinnie cannot be worse.
January 11th, 2021 at 2:12 pm
Larsen weighs 330lb and Stinnie weighs 312lbs. Not sure how losing 18lbs gives us more size.
January 11th, 2021 at 2:50 pm
@Listnfrmafar
“Larson held his own”. Did you even watched the game? Larson struggled the moment he went in. He surrendered 2 sacks WFT was credited for.
January 11th, 2021 at 3:02 pm
Guys…Stinnie went in for Marpet at the end of the Rams game and proceeded to pancake Aaron Donald. He might actually be good.
January 11th, 2021 at 4:03 pm
Like this move. Much more athletic than Larsen.
January 11th, 2021 at 4:04 pm
I like Joe Haeg. I know they cross train the Guard and Tackle positions. Is he not big enough for Guard?
January 11th, 2021 at 4:09 pm
Stinnie is young and fresh and gets some practice time with the other starters. He’ll be pumped.
Stinnie show everyone why the coaches kept you around!!!
Go Bucs!!
January 11th, 2021 at 4:14 pm
Ted Larsen is 305 and I doubt it’s that much. He looks small.
January 11th, 2021 at 4:36 pm
Larsen can play multiple positions, Stinnie probably doesn’t have the same versatility. This move feels like it’s more about having contingency plans than performance; although Larsen didn’t look good Sat night. Like the move to go with the youngling. If I were Stinnie I’d be jacked big time and ready for the challenge. I’ll be watching him closely Sun night. Can’t wait!
January 11th, 2021 at 5:26 pm
Smashsquatch … At least Stinnie’s been with us for quite a while (since Nov 2019). Larsen was only signed on to our Practice Squad last month on 8 Dec and wasn’t promoted to the active roster until 18 Dec. Doubt he’s 100% up-to-speed yet to the same extent that Aaron Stinnie and Joe Haeg should be. BTW, Bucs list Larsen as 6’3″ & 323 lbs, and Stinnie as 6’3″ & 312 lbs; 10 lbs or so isn’t all that much. Since Stinnie is 26 & Larsen is 33, I’m gonna guess that Stinnie probably has a little more upside at this point.
January 11th, 2021 at 6:17 pm
Who?
January 11th, 2021 at 10:26 pm
i miss cappa already 🙂
January 11th, 2021 at 10:47 pm
Sad to say but Larsen makes more sense here.
