A Vita Vea Update: “He Walked Real Good”
January 20th, 2021Obviously the Bucs shocked Bucs fandom when it was released yesterday that Vita Vea would be activated.
The monster nose tackle and crucial element of the Bucs’ top run defense was lost during the loss to Chicago with a busted up ankle.
In November, Joe asked Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians about the possibility of Vea returning this season. Arians didn’t think it would happen. That all changed this week but Arians suggested it became a possibility that Vea could return maybe three weeks ago.
Arians said he saw results from tests on Vea’s ankle and then witnessed Vea running in a pool.
No word yet on whether Vea will be good to go Sunday in the NFC Championship game. Asked for a status of Vea from today’s practice, Arians quipped, “He walked real good because that’s all we did today.”
Arians, however, did not discount Vea playing in Green Bay.
“I have watched him run for the last few weeks to get in shape,” Arians said. “So he looks real good.”
With the big pass-rush guns (Jason Pierre-Paul, Shaq Barrett, Ndamukong Suh) being held to one sack total in the last five games, could Vea maybe eat up a couple of Packers blockers to help free up one of the Big Three?
Joe figures Vea cannot hurt.

He would be a huge help. Even if they limit him to 20 snaps he would be a big benefit.

This would be uuuuuuuge!

BTW…I’m not sure the Bucs should show up. I just heard Collin Cowherd compare the Bucs vs. Packers to the Packers game earlier in the year against the Texans. He said he can not see anyway the Bucs win on Sunday.

A step in the right direction.

Cowherd is an idiot. Sounds like the same thing every other national analyst was saying week six.

When Colin says we are going to lose, its a great sign. He said the same thing last week

Hey Shaq Barrett – would be nice of you to show up this Sunday. We kinda need some sacks and pressures. Thannnnnks

Colin is indeed an idiot but as 813 said he at least owns it everyday with his right or wrong segment.

If Vea can contribute, that’s big. I wouldn’t lean on the guy, but certainly 15-20 snaps to spell Suh or Noonan!
Everybody is discounting the Bucs. Well, most anyway. What I find laughable is how easily the earlier match-up has been discounted as if the team is worse now than before. It wasn’t like how the Saints curb-stomped US. WE curb-stomped THEM.
NOW, because it’s in Lambeau Field, we’re the WFT of the conference championship?!
We deserve to be there as much as GB does.

he looked real good over the last 3 weeks is a wonderful thing to hear! this defense is completely different when he and carlton davis are both healthy

and obviously white… ^^^

Vea (once he got the cast off) was the best player on our defense when he got hurt. You heard BA say you need 2 guys to replace him.
January 20th, 2021 at 3:47 pm
We just Vea to play enough so that Rogers can get sacked a couple times. Once you get in Rogers head, he doesn’t wanna play anymore.
January 20th, 2021 at 4:15 pm
Arians was quoted as saying once he saw Vea on on the Alter G he realized he might make a comeback for the playoffs
