Tom Brady Has Different Standards

December 26th, 2020

Not satisfied.

Was Tom Brady the lone difference between the Bucs watching the playoffs (again) from their couches or a beach bar in Costa Rica, or actually making the playoffs?

Well, you be the judge.

Of course, Bucs fans are all but dancing in the street over the Bucs clinching their first playoff berth since 2007. It was longest postseason drought in the NFC.

But for Brady, who is used to playing in Super Bowls and has six rings to his name, just clinching a wild card berth seemed trivial to him. He didn’t even talk about it after the game.

Asked a couple of times about clinching the playoffs and Brady was either talking about the rout over Detroit today or the regular season finale against the Dixie Chicks a week from tomorrow.

When he was finally cornered to ask if he is happy for his new teammates that get to experience the playoffs for the first time, Brady all but said he doesn’t give a damn about just clinching a playoff spot. That there are much bigger fish to fry and one more obstacles to overcome.

“I’m certainly just happy we won the game,” Brady said. “We’re 10-5 and I know that gets us a spot, but I think there’s still a big week ahead of us for preparation and improving as a team.

“We’re playing better, we’re playing more consistently and it’s been great to see. There’s a lot of guys who have worked hard to get to this point. Ten wins gets you something this year in the NFL – it gets you a spot in the playoffs. There’s going to be a bunch of teams that make it this year and there’s only going to be one team that ends up happy.

“The more time we can spend improving as a team, [the more] improving as a quarterback that I need to do, the better it is for us.”

This Brady is just a different cat and has way different standards. It’s almost as if Brady is saying indirectly to his teammates, ‘I didn’t come to Tampa just to play in a wild card game and you shouldn’t be satisfied either.’

So is Brady the difference alone in the Bucs becoming a winner? Well, you could argue Brady’s mindset sure has been a gift to the Bucs.

. . . Or would you rather have the clown who felt up the Uber driver and invented eating Ws?

    Yeah, Brady is the difference.

  2. Bobojango Says:

    Brady AND Succop.

  3. Youngbucs Says:

Everyone who isn’t in a cult knows Brady is the difference.

  4. Bird Says:

He plays for december , january and february

He has almost always been in playoffs. He knows getting hot late is the key
Sure detroit is A bad team without coaches and qb in first quarter. Who cares.
Its the nfl. Any given sunday. That was a beat down

And That was confidence game in evans. My dawg.
Think frank the tank in the trust tree
Evans has to be focus and godwin and AB and gronk will shine too

Atlanta is next target. That is a good team that thankfully matty ice is now matty cant finish. Ring a bell

Get 11-5 and nfc east game Brady knows cold weather
All who said super bowl or bust with brady or was a waste cause the other guy was young
How bout we get to playoffs 1st cause that was not an option in a long time
    Aka 13 years

  5. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

How the hell can you even discuss this point. Jay Miss is “finger lickin’ good.”
33 TDs and 30 Ints = Jay Miss
    36 TDs and 11 Ints = Brady
You don’t have to be the head cashier at Walmart (thanks Larry the Cable Guy) to do that math.

  6. Bird Says:

And succop finally got his sucked up game out

  7. Bird Says:

    Alvin scissors

    Dont forget 5 fumbles
But dont trigger the guy that thinks he triggers people. Aka butt munch

He told people to jump off st pete bridge who said jameis wasnt spunge worthy

  8. BucEmUp Says:

The correct mindset to have. I coukd guve a crap less about a wildcard. They dont give out trophies for those.

  9. JimbobBucsFan Says:

The needed culture change began in Tampa Bay when Bruce Arians chose to come out of retirement after just one year (in spite of his age plus related health problems). It was put over the top when Tom Brady chose to come on down after he surveyed all of his options.

Now let’s see how it plays out for our last game of the season with the dirty birds. Then we shall see how it goes when we play our first playoff game since 2007.

    Go Bucs! De-feather the Falcons!

  10. JimmyJack Says:

Though this may not have been the greatest test it was great to see the offense lead the way today and give us a full game.

I can only say that this offense has proven to have championship potential that hasent been able to put it all together consistently yet.

We get one last tune up game and if we can be firing on all cylinders heading into the playoffs I do believe we can beat just about anybody……The only team i cant really say that about is the Saints. Our trenches will have to step their games up to beat them. I welcome the challenge!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  11. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Bird, you’re right about Munchie. Can’t believe Ndog left the site just when the Bucs became pretty good. Also, shocked not to hear from our buddy El Buco Realisto (aka “The Sheep F@cker”). Come on El Buco, give us a realist report!

  12. JimmyJack Says:

How much Touchdowns did we beat the Liobs by today. Was it 7 Touchdowns or 8?

  13. james west Says:

they say it’s very, very hard for a team to win three times in a season against an opponent, and were not talking about a team with the goat at QB, i am so damn happy for my beloved squad, go boys get tough, get down get dirty, get mean, and tom will drag you over the finish line i promise, to hell with them dirty taints

  14. David Says:

Exactly what I wanted to hear. I did not like hearing David saying
    “next stop, playoffs!” “We’re coming.!”
No! Next up is Atlanta. Another opportunity to start fast and show up for 60 minutes.
Yes you have to get in the playoffs and for long term Bucs like Donovan Smith and David and Evans, I’m happy for them but just making it is not what it’s about

  15. Miller5252 Says:

Of course Brady is one of the reasons for the turnaround. But it’s not just him….. you look at the good draft pics the last couple of years, the FA’s that have made huge change and the winning culture brought by the good coaching staff. All of this has changed Tampa. Think about the turd FA’s the Bucs have brought in the past and now a FA and drafts have to be a certain type of player. It’s not just the talent they look it but who they are and how the carry themselves. That’s been the biggest change that’s turned Tampa into the new Bucs

  16. #1bucsfan Says:

Let’s go Bucs. Let this be the new standard. Make Brady stay till he’s 50 so the Bucs will be this standard

  17. JayWill Says:

The difference is top 10 run game and defense, Wirf, Succop and then Brady. Winston didn’t have any of those things when he was here.

  18. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Oh Jaywill…..

  19. Youngbucs Says:

We don’t have a top 10 run gm stop lying. The difference is the turnovers it’s that simple sugarcoat it anyway y’all like.

  20. Youngbucs Says:

And the defensive numbers are better because we don’t have all the turnovers by the offense!!!!!!

  21. alton green Says:

when i first started reading this post i thought i was reading an article written by a reporter for CNN, ABC, or MSNBC about President Trump hahaha. I can only assume you haven’t watched Brady for the last 20 yrs. Yes he has different standards, DUH!!!!!

  22. Buckissd Says:

Bird… sponge worthy 😅 thank you for that Seinfeld reference.

I will say, Tom Brady is da man! There has been such a losing culture in Tampa for far too long. He refuses to look back and his winning attitude is just elevating the others. I’m so happy he’s here in Tampa. TB is the system, not a system qb- debate over!

  23. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Alton

WT actual F are you talking about? Do you even know?

  24. JustBucNwin Says:

He will keep the excitement to a minimum and refocus the squad that things are far from accomplished!!

  25. Jedleman Says:

Brady’s not thinking about anything but the Falcons. Been watching him for many many years. He will reign in the O and refocus them for next week. The early Saturday game should help. Extra day of rest this week.

  26. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

I was a Jameis fan but said early on minus the turnovers Brady is worth at least 4 wins and look where we’re at now, and I’m not even talking about the playoffs. Anybody who thinks Jameis would’ve done this even with this team is simply not in touch with reality. It only took Brady 15 games to beat the td pass record he set last year! Brady is the #1 reason the Bucs are where they’re at now, and will be also if we make it to the Super Bowl.

  27. Bucsfan951 Says:

Lol ok JayWill. Keep telling yourself that!

It’s simple. The defense doesn’t have to come back onto the field an average of (a little over) 2 times a game for extra work. THAT makes a HUGE difference in defensive performance.

It’s like you being the manager of an ace hardware and your coworker calling in sick twice a week and you having to cover their shift. You would be the first mfr complaining about it and don’t tell me you wouldn’t!

  28. unbelievable Says:

Yup. I commented on the Lavonte article about this very thing.

Hopefully the excitement and joy is celebrated by the team tonight and then tomorrow though go right back to grinding and Atlanta mode.

1 game at a time baby

  29. Jeagan1999 Says:

TB12 knows you want to be playing your best football going into the playoffs! And It sure seems like the Bucs are hitting on ALL cylinders!

With Brady playing like he did today, they are capable of beating ANY team in the playoffs!

  30. PatsfanLou Says:

Jimmy Jack, don’t say that about the Saints. As a Pat’s fan I watched Brady throughout his entire career here. Never say never with Brady. You gotta believe! With Tom, he gets better as the season goes on and forget about the playoffs. He gets super pumped for those games. Bottom line…. If anyone can beat da Saints, it’s TB 12

  31. adam from ny Says:

can we please get fitzie back in here next season as the back up…

because next year is the real superbowl year for us…

he is the perfect guy to spell TB…or in case of injuries

  32. Mike Malarkey Says:

    America’s Quarterback

  33. ItzOK Says:

Itz of course Brady. When you have 25 less turnovers from your QB that’s just not losing games 5 games a year on purpose.

Give Licht some credit too. Recent draft picks-Wirfs, Winfield, Dean, Bunting, (2018 alone) Vea, Jones, Davis, Cappa, Watson. Free Agent Brady, Shaq, Trade for JPP, Gronk. Fixing the kicker

  34. Mike C Says:

Adam, wtf are you worried about next years back up QB??? It is all about the NOW!

  35. MRRR Says:

Yup, it’s safe to say that Tom Brady is a huge upgrade over the Saints 3rd string quarterback.

  36. alton green Says:

Tom has different standards? How did you come up that? Tommy Boy and Bilichick lived by Vince Lombardi’s words; “winning isn’t the most important thing. it’s the ONLY THING” All football players measure their success by getting to the top rung of the ladder. WINNING the Super Bowl. Losing the SB is the 2nd to last rung. If Tompa Bay and the Bucs fall off the ladder, so be it. So Sissy Smith, go back to LOUDMOUTH LAND

  37. adam from ny Says:

    @ mike c :

    so true…so true…

got a soft spot for fitzie…and got amped watching him beat the raiders last night…

  38. Listnfrmafar Says:

Not only is it his nature approach to the game, we keep forgetting he brought AB and the Singing Eagle, party hosting, tank top wearing, Fox failing, mic dropping, CBD pushing Gronk out of retirement. How’s that working out?

  39. stpetebucsfan Says:

I do not bring politics into this other than to cite a comparable example to what is going on with hopefully the last of any need to compare JW and TB12.

Two sides have just experienced disappointment. Those who voted for Trump and those who pimped JW to the very end.

Those who selected the “happy” side now have IMHO an obligation to move on with some class and dignity. Whether it’s politics or sports there is no need to “neener neener” anybody…unless we’re on the playground.

I confess at the start of the JW defenders trashing Brady as too old, some characterized the Brady signing as the worst move ever…a disaster for the franchise. Along the way I thought I can’t wait until the end of the season and scores can actually get settled.

OK time to settle. I wish the very best for JW and his fans. I’d love nothing more than to face him…them? ( would they root for him or us) and say the Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl.

NOW…it’s time to move on! We have a team in the freaking playoffs and as is cliche in the NFL…the team that gets hot at the right team can win it all. We have now put up six straight quarters of not good but EXCELLENT football…except the special teams…we are building the mighty MO and yesterday…EVERYBODY got theirs…ME..Gronk..AB..CG and next game I won’t be surprised if Scottie gets a long bomb. Happy New Year we’re in the playoffs!

  40. 6throundpick Says:

If tbey had just won it all, he’d have started his conditioning/workouts, and talking about more wins. That’s what he did in NE every time.

  41. Ben green Says:

Their record would be flipped save for 5 qb’s, brady being one. They’re doing more pre snap reads and more play action. For the first time it looked like the offense has meshed what brady likes, without totally abandoning the scheme. The scheme still sucks and the saints will destroy them if they make it that far. This entire season is about tb12. He demands the best on every play. Your gifted wideouts haven’t always done that. He also makes the idiot headchoah and coordinator look like they have half a brain, which isn’t easy. Long live the goat

  42. Ed Says:

There is a way the Bucs offense could score on the Saints but it would require they would have to run the ball and shorten up their route trees. Latimore negates Evans and the Dennis Allen knows the best way to pressure Brady is to not allow a clean pocket. The D line of New Orleans is too physical for the Bucs line to hold up in long developing passing plays.

The reason the Bucs couldn’t handle Nee Orleans’ D is they didn’t run the ball well enough to set up play action.

  43. G DAWG Says:

TB is the KING. I havent heard much about Billdo not making the playoffs. He won bc he had the GOAT.

Will be interesting to see if the Bush can be consistent.

  44. G DAWG Says:

    TB da KING

Billacheat let go, arrogance is not a vulture
