Todd Bowles’ Potential COVID Exposure Has Bucs Cautious
December 31st, 2020Nothing has the power to crush Super Bowl dreams faster than The Sickness spreading through a team.
Thankfully, the Bucs have escaped rather well this season. No major illnesses, and players’ time lost on the COVID-19 reserve list hasn’t cost the team any victories. During the current winning streak, the Bucs scored Ws without Ronald Jones and Donovan Smith.
Per Mike Garafolo of NFL.com, Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles is not working at One Buc Palace this week after being in contact with someone outside the team that likely had a “false positive” virus test. He’s been working via virtual meetings, Garafolo wrote on Twitter, and is expected back on or before Sunday.
Cautious is good. It’s becoming clear as the NFL season wears on that the league has very little interest in rescheduling additional games.
Thankfully, Bowles is up for coaching virtually, unlike his boss.
