Teammates Asking LeSean McCoy January Questions
December 18th, 2020The drive to the playoffs and (Gasp!) a Super Bowl is very new territory for most Buccaneers players.
It’s so new that guys have turned to LeSean “Shady” McCoy to inquire about what it’s like. And “Shady,” who owns a Chiefs Super Bowl ring and also played in the playoffs with the Bills and Eagles, is counseling them.
“You know, that’s what I’m telling guys because this team hasn’t been in the playoffs, you know, and they’re asking questions,” Shady told The Michael Irvin Podcast. “I’m like, ‘Once we get there, then everything else is done. Now we can settle down and we can game plan each game at a time, you know, and focus on that game.’ Because now you’re contemplating … seeding.
“We just want to get in there and get to have a chance. Because I think once we get into the playoffs with these coaches and these players, we have a good shot, man, to make a Bowl. And I’m very confident in the remaining schedule.”
This is tied to a big reason Joe wants to the see the Bucs clinch the playoffs in a hurry, as in on Sunday. That’ll give the reality time to sink in for playoff virgins like Mike Evans, Ali Marpet and so many other key players on the roster. Joe believes that extra time can only help.
Listening to “Shady,” it’s very cool to hear how he understand his role — “I signed to be a great teammate” — while simultaneously believing he has an awful lot to contribute. He also had interesting takes on how he focuses on readiness.
Will there be a 2021 for Shady? Most likely, he said, but he admitted he might pass if he earned another Super Bowl ring.

He had some opportunities earlier in the year that he didn’t do much with, but he looked good in his snaps last week.
More importantly, he has the right attitude and understands his role as a vet who is past his prime. Most older vets don’t seem to be as humble.

I think there are some big time plays made by Shady in the near future. I think his savy and fresh legs are going to be an x factor on third downs against playoff opponents.

Here is where and when the “great experienced teammate” acquisitions should payoff in our run for the Big Dance. Yes, we are talking intangibles as well as the tangibles represented on tape and on paper.
Go Bucs!

…”Joe wants to the see the Bucs clinch the playoffs in a hurry, as in on Sunday.”
If I’m not mistaken (read this somewhere) Bucs have to win v. Falcons and Bears v. Vikes has to end in a tie for the Bucs to lock in a spot.
Joseph – what say you?

Lets just win Sunday go from there

Read the same thing, Jaymiss…which seemed a bit odd. I get it if the Bears win as they hold the tiebreaker. Not sure why a Viking win would keep them alive vs Bucs…perhaps a possible 3 way tie scenario.

I agree with Mod, McCoy should be the guy. Fournette clearly doesn’t have it anymore if he ever did.
