No Alarm Bells For Godwin
December 9th, 2020Interesting past 24 hours or so for Bucs star receiver Chris Godwin.
A day after his coach, Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians, raved about his toughness, Godwin was not initially seen at practice during the open window for media viewing.
That’s because Arians held him out of an important element of practice for a receiver: catching the ball.
Godwin this week had pins pulled out of the finger he broke in October. The pins were used to help set the finger back in place.
Arians wasn’t and isn’t going to risk Godwin screwing up that finger, as Godwin will be needed for a huge game Sunday against the Vikings.
“There was no way with that finger – having the pins taken out – that I was going to let the ball touch him,” Arians said. “He went through walkthrough and caught one upside down [and] backwards [pass], but he’s not going to catch any balls until Friday.”
Smart.
At this point in the season, a veteran stud like Godwin doesn’t have to prove to anyone he can catch. His hands are among the best in the NFL.
Those hands will be needed Sunday, not to get them screwed up in an early-December, midweek practice.
Smart move by Arians.

It’s definitely a smart move, but I am more concerned Mike Evans has a new hamstring injury coming off a bye week.

I saw her today, I saw her face, it was a face I loved, and I knew
I had to run away, and get down on my knees and pray that they’d go away
But still they’d begin (uh), needles and pins (uh)
Because of all my pride, the tears I gotta hide
