Bucs Sign A Quarterback

December 24th, 2020

Dealin.’

With NFL failure and former Bucs fourth-string quarterback Josh Rosen getting picked up by John Lynch and the 49ers, it left a hole on the ever-popular practice squad.

And Bucco Bruce Arians Arians reached into his past to have Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht sign one. That would be former Cardinals signal-caller Drew Stanton.

This news comes from NFL Network and FOX NFL insider and closet Bucs fan Peter Schrager.

Stanton started 17 games for Arians during a four-year tenure with the Cardinals.

The former Michigan State star hasn’t stepped onto an NFL field in a regular season game in three years. That’s when he played for — you guessed it — Arians in Arizona.

Joe guesses this is about the best one can do on Christmas Eve if you are looking for a No. 4 quarterback. Stanton already knows Arians’ offense inside and out.

Let’s hope the Bucs make sure he enters year No. 4 without taking a snap from center.

    Drew Stanton, nice!

  3. Clean House Says:

    😂

Not sure I would leave home on the holidays to get a practice squad check after 3 years- unless he’s dead broke, or still wants to play

  4. Joe Says:

    Clean:

Stanton will get somewhere around $12k a week so he’s bound to pocket $36k, minimum, through the holidays.

Beats paying a gym to work out in.

  5. Joe in Michigan Says:

Plus, Stanton gets to leave the wasteland known as a Michigan for Florida!

  6. Bucfanforever Says:

Future of the Franchise. Just like every practice squad qb.

  7. Mike Johnson Says:

This is just an Arians move to take care of one of his..down and out Ex-cardinal players. I don’t think anybody at all is the least impressed with this move.

  8. NPRSageBoy Says:

    Thank God it’s not JayMiss.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

    Peace, out

  9. Joe in Michigan Says:

Who needs cheerleaders when you have Drew Stanton?

  10. Joe in Michigan Says:

    Merry Christmas!!

  11. Allbuccedup Says:

Great news, if Brady goes down we have solid backups to replace him good work BA.

  12. Mort Says:

B.. b… but Josh Rosen said he wasn’t leaving!

  13. Aceofaerospace Says:

I would have no problem at all signing Mr Pick 6 to the practice squad. Someone needs to hold the tackling dummies.

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

BA is fiercely loyal to his ex players & coaches……either that or he/s getting kickbacks……

Dungy was loyal to Clyde Christenson

  18. Joe in Michigan Says:

Mike Johnson: Down and out? Do you know Drew Stanton? Nah.

  19. Jmarkbuc Says:

We need a fourth QB for why?

  20. admin Says:

    Jmarkbuc:

    COVID protection.

  21. Joe in Michigan Says:

Adrnagy: Only off by 59 years.

Drew Stanton has made over $26 million in his NFL career. I wish I was that “down and out”. Some people would rather go with “alternate facts” (made up gibberish).

  22. Joe in Michigan Says:

I was incorrect, Stanton lives in Arizona, not Michigan. He’s from here, but was smart enough to leave.

  23. Roy T. Buford Says:

There is more. Drew Stanton also helped the “Lions achieve their first road win in over three years, leading them to a 23–20 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers” in Week 15. Yup. A Buc killer is he.

Year: 2010. Bucs narrow playoff miss on the bad OPI call on Vaseline totin Kellen Winslow II. Then, Stanton led the team down the field to win on a field goal in overtime.

Win, and it’s playoffs for Raheem. But not so. The Packers took over that seed and went to the playoffs over our Bucs and won the SB that year.

  24. admin Says:

    You know it Roy. 🙁

  25. Joe in Michigan Says:

    Good information, RTB!

  26. Beej Says:

This seems to have iced it that we thought John Rosen wasn’t an NFL player, feel bad for the guy

  27. catcard202 Says:

Literally threw-up in my mouth just a little….Stanton?

Yeah I know the Blah Blah about how he knows the playbook & won a game for BA in like 2015 or something…How he could play in a pinch & all that Yadda Yadda BS…But the thing is…He plays like a guy that should be out of the league, selling Buick’s in Carver City.

Merry Christmas, Bucs Fans! BA & the FO gave us another reason to prey for TB12’s continued well being, this holiday season.

  28. BringBucsBack Says:

Am I the only person to think that it was foolish to leave Rosen on the practice squad when, neither of your back-ups will do much more than back-up, in the future?

Maybe he’s not starting material but, how do we know that he can’t run this system with this team. It seems like wasted potential/ opportunity.

Now we MUST draft a QB or pick-up the over rated Gorappolo.

  29. Listnfrmafar Says:

Like the locker room scene in the movie Invincible, if Brady goes down, does it really matter?

  30. Joe in Michigan Says:

catcard202: You do realize we’re talking about the 4th string QB, correct?

BringBucsBack: How do we know that Blaine Gabbert or Ryan Griffin can’t run this system with this team? Those are the guys that Rosen was unable to beat out for a roster spot. I had zero expectations for Josh Rosen, and I have zero qualms with him being left unprotected.
