Bruce Arians Says He’s Hoping For “False Positives”
December 17th, 2020Today, the Buccaneers are hoping to yank key players off the reserve/COVID-19 list that makes them ineligible to play or practice.
Bucco Bruce Arians was a little cryptic last night talking about a potential imminent return of Ronald Jones, who was placed on the COVID list yesterday a day after punter Bradley Pinion, kicker Ryan Succop and long-snapper Zach Triner got the same bad news.
“Knock on wood, these guys that we have right now come back as false positives and can [be] ready to roll,” told SiriusXM NFL Radio.
That leads Joe to believe the players indeed tested positive for COVID-19, rather than just landing on the list for being a close contact with someone that had the virus.
Arians also referenced retests but was not more specific.
Per the NFL’s recently enhanced virus rules, an asymptomatic player who tests positive for COVID-19 must sit out 10 days. No exceptions. So it seems the Bucs hope the players placed on the COVID list can be reinstated if its determined today that the initial tests were bogus.
Today, no news will be bad news.

False positives for three guys who spend a lot of time together seems improbable

They have a kicker on the practice squad, but no punter. Who is goiing to punt in the first quarter?
